American Financing

NO ANSWERS

Everything started smoothly at first, until it came time to close! I was initially quoted around $5,100 needed at closing. My original loan rep, Ji Kim, was very specific about that.

While having our house built, the loan file was changed over to a new loan rep, Carolyn Sullivan-Hollingsworth, and her assistant, Eric Bloomquist.

I always promptly responded to every single email and provided every bit of documentation requested of me.

Once we were notified of a closing date, I notified Carolyn Sullivan-Hollingsworth to see if that date worked for them and to verify exactly how much I was going to need at closing in the next few weeks.

I also needed to firm up a date so my wife and I could take off of work and so we could give notice to our landlord to move.

Days and days went by and all of a sudden American Financing was like a ghost town.

After begging for someone to confirm our closing date and amount needed, a new dollar amount was finally quoted to be $9,000+ needed at close.

WHAT? How’d we go from $5,100 to $9,000?? NO ANSWERS.

Again, I begged for an explanation as to why such a huge difference. And again, nothing from anyone.

We were left scrambling to find a new mortgage lender.

We went with a local lender (which we should have done in the first place) and went through all the trouble to start a mortgage application all over again with all current documentation and everything!

We spent days getting approved with a new lender. Once we sealed the deal, I emailed American Financing and told them to cancel our file.

Only then did the phone calls and offers of a better rate start coming in. How incredibly lazy, disrespectful, and unprofessional of them!

Here’s the list of the incompetent reps that grossly mishandled our file: Ji Kim, Brian Barker, Carolyn Sullivan-Hollingsworth, and manager Cindy Sotelo.

And yes, I have EVERY single email sent back and forth to back up these events. This taught me to NEVER rely on a celebrity endorsement.

Had I only researched American Financing BEFORE I ever wasted our time I could have saved myself a HUGE amount of stress.

BE WARNED, PEOPLE.

  1. Scammer

I also called American Financing based on a commercial that I heard on Glenn Beck’s radio program, he personally endorses them. My prequalification was really a pleasant experience, I met with the loan officer in a Starbucks here in Raleigh, NC.

I filled out about 300 pages of paperwork, gave them everything they asked for – to start the “pre-approval” process. And then….heard nothing. For 3 weeks. Until I finally called the loan officer’s cell #, at which point she informed me that the Raleigh office had CLOSED, and they had let her go 2 weeks prior.

She apologized profusely for no one contacting me – but, there was really nothing she could do, as the company kept all of her customer contact information.

When I called the Boulder, CO office I talked to a man named Jin Loo. He also apologized for dropping the ball with my mortgage, and asked me if I would kindly call back in a week or so – to give him time to hopefully acquire his loan officer license, as they no longer had a LICENSED LOAN OFFICER IN NORTH CAROLINA.

That is the most unprofessional response I have ever had from any business. ‘Um…can you call me back…because right now, there’s no one here who can deliver on the mortgage we advertised’. Unbelieveable.
I did not call Mr. Loo back,

and I received all of my personal documents back in a UPS package a couple of days ago. Again…no explanation, just a packet of my paperwork sent back to me. What an immense waste of time!

  2. Never Again

We were promised, as well as signed paperwork to that effect, that we would not be paying closing costs. Our consultant suddenly was out of the country and could not resolve the issue.

Also, this is probably a place that caters to the low rent type of people as you can see from all the bimbo employees parading their unprofessionally dressed bodies around the office.

  3. Their close costing is way over price.

I waited another 30min. She came back with another 50 pages of documents and want me to start signing. At least the spelling it right this time. We looking over it. Their close costing is way over price.

  4. Bad Service Provide

I moved back and rented until I could finally afford to purchase again. I was told I qualified for two different amounts. The lower amount would allow me to keep my son’s car under my name since I co-signed and the higher amount meant I’d have to sell, refinance and put his car under his name.

  5. I was a great experience.

We had a great experience! Douglas Longoria was extremely helpful. Got our mortgage down. Which was our goal. My only complaint, our notary was over an hour late, and we were only updated about her lateness once. Other than that. I was a great experience.

  6. I would be a return client in a heartbeat.

I just finished helping my mother with re-financing her loan. Andrew Tinkle was our contact through American Financing. I thought he did a fantastic job. He was pleasant to deal with and answered any questions we threw at him. Pretty straight forward and fairly streamlined process. I would be a return client in a heartbeat.

  7. Thanks American Financing and Douglas Longoria for the great service!

This is the second time Doug Longoria at American Financing has helped me out. 1st with the refi of my first home and now with the purchase of my second. Thanks American Financing and Douglas Longoria for the great service!

  8. Dont waste your time!

Dont waste your time. This company promises the world but doesnt deliver. After 3 MONTHS working with them and spending so much time getting them documents I was denied for 2 loans that another company easily completed for me.

It took them an average of 5-7 days to return my emails and calls! No joke. And my 2 friends that used them also had horrible experiences and went to another lender. Dont waste your time!

  9. Run away and do not use!

Terrible serivce and terrible lack of communication. They dont respond to requests and when they do information is sloppy. They moved forward with our loan without approval from us. Run away and do not use!

  10. I will never use AF again nor will I recommend them.

I feel the person I’m working with at AF is new or has not been trained well. She had my name wrong on some of my initial paperwork had address information incorrect. She asks for information I’ve already shared with her. I was to have closed @ two weeks ago but it seems like every day or every other day they are like…oh, we need this document or that document”.

I travel frequently and am not always available to just drop everything and run to my home office to pull whatever new document they decide they need. I don’t understand how you can’t figure out everything that is going to be needed at the beginning of the process.

It’s been a very disorganized; unprofessional process. I had used AF in the past about 7 years ago I think and it went really well so I expected the same but sadly their service is very poor. I will never use AF again nor will I recommend them.

  11. I would not recommend AF for refinancing.

I would not recommend AF for refinancing. If I could cancel now without being out cash for the appraisal I would. (The fee they tell me is @ $450 for the appraisal which is a joke as the appraiser wasn’t even in my house for 5 minutes and I believe he completely under vauled my home based on the sales prices I know from similar units).

  12. This place is a joke, and we have found a different company.

I am a first time home buyer and let me tell you that this mortgage company has me so concerned that I have literally put a halt on my home buying process.

Not only did they push my file to the side for 20 days after receiving my application they have no idea what my file even consisted of. My mortgage consultant has been oblivious to our situation and now wants us to restart the process… not a chance! This place is a joke, and we have found a different company.
