Alaska Usa Federal Credit Union

This company is extremely shaddy

Wow. I make a payment and its gets jacked up in Alaska Usa Federal Credit Union’s system. They charge a $26 late fee and will not reverse it even though I made the payment.

They said the account number was inputted wrong, well I copied and pasted it right from my spreadsheet.

When I read it too “Debby” the manager, it was what they had in their system.

She then still would not reverse the charge because she said I must have made a mistake inputting it.

I then asked for her last name and she said “I do not give out my last name” and then hung up.

This company is extremely shaddy and I would not do business with them.

  1. Bad Service Provide

I again forgot to pay January’s payment this year, I received a phone call that I was late for January and owe $103… It was only $103 because again, I always pay more then the minimum required. The associate was very rude and condescending, even after I told them I would get online right now and make the payment.

  2. Scammer.

Alaska USA Federal Credit Union is trying to tag on extra charges of $2000.00 on an in operable car (from Jan to May) because they said we needed insurance but you don’t in California .

And now want to charge us for the past when the car had no claim and now is running with insurance. Just crazy!!!
Please email me if you’d like to fix any wrong they did to you. Companies need to be put in their place and be honest or pay the price of wronging the wrong customers!!!!

  3. The "special credit" woman was extremely rude.

I have an auto loan with these people. I’m grateful about iot because I was upsidedown on a loan on the previous vehicle. I have a huge payment and was trying to refinance. I called yesterday and submitted the application over the phone and was told I’d get a call back in a couple of hours.

Call never happened. Called back again today and after call #5 I’m told that they can’t help me out because the principle isn’t paid down enough. Apparentlyno one could tell me this information the first time I called. The “special credit” woman was extremely rude.

  4. Bad Service Provide

The burden was entirely on me to prove that I attempted to have the due date as the 15th, every single payment coming in on the 15th wasn’t enough for them. Funny thing, I’ve read other reviews here where people had problems with due dates during loan origination, to Alaska USA, apparently the customer is the only entity capable of mistakes.

Furthermore, I was told that they wouldn’t attempt to call me unless the payment ended up 60+ days late – of course, Alaska USA would get a couple late fees at that point. I guess the late fees were more important than keeping me as a customer.

  5. Very Bad

She also appeared to believe that the scenario made the most sense that I decided to pay late every single month (8 months if I’m not mistaken) since the refinance, even though the full 2 years prior to the refinance my account was perfect. So, Alaska USA believes that I made late payments for the entire duration of the refinanced loan on purpose, generating a late fee every month,

and since they didn’t call/text/email so I could handle it before it turned into a problem, they believe I was trying to do something nefarious to reverse the credit issue – they did not have the courtesy to contact me, and, even though I took action, I couldn’t prove who I spoke with.

BTW, I had perfect credit for 10 years; it still hasn’t recovered after nearly a year.

  6. The customer service center manager named Jessica is terrible.

The customer service center manager named Jessica is terrible. The first time I called in I asked the agent to hold for just one second and I looked down and she had hung up on me! So, I called back, the lady helping was extremely rude and condescending.

I could not believe the way she was talking to me, so I asked to speak to a manager and she told me she was the manager. I asked about closing my account, foolishly thinking this manager would care that their customer service made me think about closing my entire account and she offered to send me a check for the balance! I will be looking for a new bank VERY SOON!

  7. I bought a truck recently and financed with Alaska USA.

I bought a truck recently and financed with Alaska USA. What a mistake that was. They charged the wrong fee for title and registration so it was rejected by the DMV. Normally it wouldn’t be a big deal but I’m being transferred across the country again and I don’t have a license plate on my truck. Its not the DMV’s fault, it’s not my fault, its Alaska USA’ s.

when they called me to explain that it got rejected they made it sound like it was my fault. Then said they would call the DMV the next week so see what they could do! Next week!!! What a joke. I got upset at that point. And the lady finally said she would call them to see what could be done. She said they would rush it and call me back with an update on two weeks.

  8. NEGATIVE STARS!

NEGATIVE STARS! Worst bank ever! I purchased a vehicle in, and usually just go with the lowest rate the dealership can find. In this case, it happened to be AlaskaUSA (At least I thought I was getting a good rate, who knows). What a nightmare from the very beginning… tried to charge me for being uninsured (which I wasn’t), could never get them to apply my overpayments to principal amount, and they bring a whole new meaning to customer “service”.

I thought about re-financing several times, but didn’t want the hassle. On June, I purchased another vehicle and was so excited to get away from AlaskaUSA. But, here’s where the straw broke the proverbial camels back.

Here’s my story. In April, I had made a large lump sum payment, in which the amount above the payment amount was to pay down the principal. As usual, even though I stated in writing with the payment to apply the overpayment to principal, the bank decided to,

again, apply this lump sum to several advanced payments on my loan making my next payment due on July. Ugh! Having had this issue and several other issues with the “bank” that could not be resolved, I decided to let this slide…just to avoid further grief and frustration!

  9. My money is locked up for now and I WILL be closing the acct soon.

I opened my acct on 7/2 and am STILL waiting for my debit card. When I call in to C/S I get passed around and lied to. Very FRUSTRATING!!! And as far as I know they haven’t even mailed me any checks. 10 business days is now 18 days & counting. They can give you a temp ATM card but it is only good in their ATM machines. My money is locked up for now and I WILL be closing the acct soon.

  10. Worst ever. Can you do negative stars

I have been trying to get rid of these guys since they made a double payment on my house and refused to give me information on how this happened. – since then:

I recently went to Tampa to work on a contract. Because of bills in Tampa I did a change of address and I asked the AlaskaUSA if I needed to do anything to make sure my address stayed in Seattle and they informed me that they call if they receive a change of address and will not make a change without my permission.

Since the Tampa housing is temp and I have someone checking my mail in Seattle that is safer. I closed all the accounts that were autopaid to Alaska, cut up the debit card and I have been getting ready to close the account, so the balance was like $80?

I got a check from the cable company in Seattle and I called to see why, and it turned out they had charged me an additional month by mistake. The amount was much higher than $80. I went online to check, and I was locked out.

  11. Refinanced my vehicle which was originally serviced by Alaska USA.

Refinanced my vehicle which was originally serviced by Alaska USA. During the paperwork process, I had noticed that the paperwork showed the 1st as the payment due date, I asked if I could have the due date moved to the 15th as I requested at the start of the process (my former loan was the 15th also). I was told this would be handled.

A few weeks later I noticed that I was receiving late notices, called in, talked with somebody who told me that it wasn’t a problem if I keep paying on the 15th. I expected this meant that they were changing the due date, or that it didn’t need to change, not sure what the person on the line was thinking (telling me I should keep paying late?) – I had autopay set up and just kept living my life.

I got more late notices but since I had talked to someone a couple weeks prior, I didn’t expect it was a continuing problem, particularly because I had noticed that their website is circa the mid 90s and customer service in general seems lacking; I attributed it to outdated systems/practices, true I shouldn’t have trusted them.

I went on vacation and the payment didn’t clear for a particular month – it was an error on my part, however since the payment in their system still reflected the 1st and it was the 30th when I returned, they sent a fail to pay to the credit bureaus. BTW, Alaska USA only uses snail mail to let you know of problems, per their own policy, I learned this the hard way – they didn’t attempt to contact me any other way.

  12. I will not go into details but they sign customers up for services that I rejected.

This business has issues. I will not go into details but they sign customers up for services that I rejected. Later, after trust is gained, they automatically deduct small fees on a monthly basis – when discovered they refuse to refund the fees since 60 days passed before the discovery. Therefore, they refused to refund more than 12 months of these illegal charges.

  13. Have to get the direct deposits that I get changed, them I will be done.

After almost 50 years of banking at Ak USA, I am in the process of moving to a smaller, more helpful credit union. I do not like dealing with the tellers, who can’t help you.

  14. seriously worst ever

I wish I could leave negative stars! I wanted to start a college savings fund for my son. After researching and speaking with agents the certificate seemed like the right one. I asked them many times , I can keep adding money in as I choose yes?

They said of course you can. So I showed my son how to fill out the deposit slip and mail it out. I got the check back. So I called them asking why? Well you cant touch that till 2023. I reminded them that when deciding on the right one they assured me I could deposit money at will.

  15. Wish I could give negative stars.

Wish I could give negative stars. Phone service is absolutely horrible. Extremely unhelpful and a complete waste of time to try to call them for anything.

Nobody working for this company has a single clue as to what they’re talking about. You could ask 4 different people the same question (which I did) and each of them would give you a different answer, none of which helped to solve the problem! By far the worst bank I’ve ever had to deal with.
