Ally Auto Finance

Ally Auto Is Probably Not Worth The Hassle

The bad things that you have heard and read about Ally Auto Finance are probably true.

This is the first negative review that I have EVER written about a company, but I feel compelled to do so.

I will NEVER EVER use Ally Auto again. And I encourage you to make sure you ask your car salesman which bank they use.

Trust me, and Ally Auto is probably not worth the hassle. For me, I purchased a car with the loan through Ally Auto.

Already, their website isn’t very fleshed out, meaning you cannot download an electronic copy of your title.

You have to contact them and request that they send it to you. After about 5 payments, I paid the rest of the sum off in a large payment, and it was an EFT.

According to their website, “If you pay with any other method like a personal check or online payment, we’ll mail the title or lien release following your state’s requirements.”

So, I called them and reached the Philippines (outsourced customer service, never a good sign). All they could tell me was that I would have to wait 10 days for the release and then another 3 to 5 days to receive the Lien Release or Title.

I live in California, and the Title is Electronic. I checked California’s laws, and nowhere is it indicated that a payment holding of 10 days is necessary.

I contact them back in the Philippines, and II tell them that 10 days isn’t law and why aren’t they releasing my title.

After calling and chatting on their website 3 times, I got transferred to their lien release department (also outsourced to a third party holder).

Of course, since they’re outsourced, they don’t even understand the situation; they just have to wait for Ally to notify them.

I call Ally back, probably a total of 10 times. I speak to a team lead who continues to repeat himself until I tell him that repeating himself and treating me like some account is not good business practice and does not help the situation.

I finally speak to someone who can help, and she tells me that the 10-day holding is not a state-required policy but a company-wide policy to procure the funds, “which could be stopped at any moment.”

I respond in kind by stating that an EFT can be sent, secured, and paid out within, max 5 business days.

I told her that 10 days is an outdated company policy that needs to be revisited.

She says there’s nothing she can do but overnight me the release after the 10 days.

Their customer service calls me and asks me if everything is alright, and I tell them that if the idea of an electronic title is supposed to be faster, why in God’s name is it slower? I tell her that her company is not transparent enough and that their policies are outdated, and they treat their customer like account numbers and are not trained to try and handle each case by case.

Customers are human, so listen to them. Train your customer service to answer or obtain answers to difficult questions, and perhaps you will pull your company out of the slums.

Your stocks look horrendous, and it appears it’s because people are banking against you.

You have horrible reviews internet-wide. Get with the program and do better.

The people that work for you are capable, so stop giving them a bad name and make them embarrassed to work for you.

  1. Unlawful repossession

They unlawfully repossessed my vehicle. They did not give provide the Cobb Notification letter they are required to send me since they were accepting my late payments. They are Ally financial and have class action law suits against them for this exact issue and also within the state of Minnesota where they paid $780 in settlement due to them not following proper protocol per state laws. I got behind in payments when I was laid off last year, notified them of my lay off, they wouldn’t do any payment arrangement or payment assistance since my loan was so new so when I regained employment I have been paying monthly payment plus additional amount each month to get caught up. They closed my account in February regardless of those payments they had been accepting (without me knowing it until today) and continued taking my payments. Last payment was on 4/17/23 for $900. They repo’d vehicle on 5.7.23 with no Cobb notice sent to me. I would have been able to get completely current with my auto loan within the next 30 days if they would notified me of the repossession action and allowed me to make large payments now and then in two weeks when I get paid again. They are telling me since they closed my account they won’t even allow a payment arrangement to get current and I either pay loan in full or they will sell my vehicle.

  2. Horrible customer service

Paid same amount online for 3 years last payment they doubled amount and said they couldn’t refund the extra payment. Caused me all kinds of problems . SHADY!!!!

  3. Ally refused to provide me with the pay off value of the car , minus the interest rate!
They refused to provide the necessary information to sell the Car, after my late spouse, the owner passing!

  4. repro scam

Ally is the WORST company to deal with. They have their own towing company are will repro your car if you miss a payment. Then the fun begins. My friend had to call many times, make appointments, and has to go to three places to get his belongings, plate and car back. Not to mention tons of Fees and charges they come up with. Will try and have the News expose them for the scum they are.

  5. Horrible company

My vehicle should have been paid off on 6/7/21 when the dealership sent in the check for the payoff of my car. The payment was applied on 6/8 and then was reversed on 6/17. I have tried to call every day to get it resolved since 6/8 and I can’t get it fixed. Now my loan is showing late as of 6/15 and will mess up my credit. I have asked this entire time to speak with a supervisor and have yet to get one to call me back. This company is a joke and I cannot believe they can get away with treating people like this. They are messing up my credit that I worked so hard to build.

  6. No one should ever use Ally.

Having an Ally auto loan was the worst experience I’ve ever had. Every time I talked to them they did not listen at all. I initially had signed on this loan with my ex. When I left him he kept the truck but my name was still on it.

When I went to sell the truck because my ex had missed the payment I talked Ally them multiple times about the fact that I was selling the truck and they would get paid in full soon but that being a single mom I could not afford to pay the late payment to hold them off until the payment went through.

I was transferred three times to higher up managers and all of them said there was no way for them to keep it from going to the credit company. All they would ever say is “How will you be making a payment today”. They still sent the loan to the credit company even after they had talked to the car dealership about the payoff amount.

My credit score which was 810 is now at 679 all because they refused to help me. They do not care one bit about their customers, only about their money. No one should ever use Ally.

  8. IF YOU CAN, DEAL WITH ANOTHER COMPANY NOT THIS ONE.

ALLY IS HORRIBLE. ALLY IS HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. My senior citizen father who has one reliable vehicle which was wrongfully repossessed because of a mistake one of there customer service rep made because she typed in the wrong card number provided to her.

Ally didn’t even bother calling to say pymt was not made or received and came 2wks later Ally had the car repossessed @ 2am. Long story short, they never went back to listen to the so called ” recorded line” to verify that is was a mistake on their end. They just kept saying WE provided them the wrong card number.

Ally been moving the vehicle from Staten Island (where we live) to Long Island to now some place in Bordentown , New Jersey. How is my 80 yr old father going to go all the way out there (which is 3hrs away) to pick up a car that should not have been repossessed in the first place ?THEY ARE IN NO WAY AT ALL TRYING TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE. AGAIN, ALLY IS HORRIBLE.

IF YOU CAN, DEAL WITH ANOTHER COMPANY NOT THIS ONE. Also, till this day they have not even apologize. I hope they go out of business because they are horrible and treat customers horribly. Save yourself and the ones you love by not dealing with company at all.

If I had time, I post something a couple of times a week to help DECREASE their business… we are starting the process of taking their behinds to court for wrongful repossession… ALLY IS HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE

  9. Unbelievably bad

so these idiots double drafted my payment… and then of course could only refund me “within 7-10 days by check” … so while i’m trying to buy a house.. my account is sitting in overdraft status. thanks a heap, morons.

  10. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY ALLY

Worst experience did not receive any paperwork from bank for my auto loan. No one is helping all they say is so sorry but problem still exist . I have car for 3 months made payments on time but still don’t have letter of permission to register auto in NY.

3 months have received tickets on car n also was told today if car is still on street with no plates that will tow me. Can’t get nowhere with company gonna contact lawyer n banking security on matter. Stay away from this company all the calls r sent over seas foreign country n hard to understand them n I’m sure it’s hard for them to understand me. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY ALLY

  11. Horrible customer service!

Horrible customer service!!!!! They just repeat and repeat a scripted response. Also, hard to understand.

  13. Terrible lending company Good luck trying to set up on line account.

Terrible lending company Good luck trying to set up on line account. For more than one vehicle. Second and last time we deal with them. My personal bank wont even deal with them due to so many problems they experience. When we go to get another vehicle and they say ally is financing it we are going else where.

  14. Don't ever use them

I don’t even want to give them 1 star. Sent a payoff check 4 weeks ago and even tho I have the name of the person who signed for it, they never received it. So they lost it. Re issued another and here we are a week later and nothing.

They always say the same thing when I call..”please give it a few more days”..why? So you can keep adding fees and reporting it to my credit bc I’m late on a payment? You had/have a $20,000 in your possession and you won’t pay off my car! My credit dropped 45 points bc of their negligence yet they don’t care at all.

They call everyday for my past due payment but can’t seem to apply a payoff. Useless company and I have contacted the BBB and turned to social media for some kind of help. Don’t ever use them

  15. They SUCK!!! I hate this finance company.

This is the rudest place I have ever dealt with. Called to get a payment deferred and they asked if the car had been wrecked.. I said no I just need to defer a payment. They said I did not qualify for a deferment.

NO one speaks English. I also called to get my pay off and it took twice to get someone to finally answer my question and she was rude as hell and wanted to know why I needed my pay off. Wished I could give them a zero rating. They SUCK!!! I hate this finance company.
