Ally Auto Finance

Ally Auto Is Probably Not Worth The Hassle

The bad things that you have heard and read about Ally Auto Finance are probably true.

This is the first negative review that I have EVER written about a company, but I feel compelled to do so.

I will NEVER EVER use Ally Auto again. And I encourage you to make sure you ask your car salesman which bank they use.

Trust me, and Ally Auto is probably not worth the hassle. For me, I purchased a car with the loan through Ally Auto.

Already, their website isn’t very fleshed out, meaning you cannot download an electronic copy of your title.

You have to contact them and request that they send it to you. After about 5 payments, I paid the rest of the sum off in a large payment, and it was an EFT.

According to their website, “If you pay with any other method like a personal check or online payment, we’ll mail the title or lien release following your state’s requirements.”

So, I called them and reached the Philippines (outsourced customer service, never a good sign). All they could tell me was that I would have to wait 10 days for the release and then another 3 to 5 days to receive the Lien Release or Title.

I live in California, and the Title is Electronic. I checked California’s laws, and nowhere is it indicated that a payment holding of 10 days is necessary.

I contact them back in the Philippines, and II tell them that 10 days isn’t law and why aren’t they releasing my title.

After calling and chatting on their website 3 times, I got transferred to their lien release department (also outsourced to a third party holder).

Of course, since they’re outsourced, they don’t even understand the situation; they just have to wait for Ally to notify them.

I call Ally back, probably a total of 10 times. I speak to a team lead who continues to repeat himself until I tell him that repeating himself and treating me like some account is not good business practice and does not help the situation.

I finally speak to someone who can help, and she tells me that the 10-day holding is not a state-required policy but a company-wide policy to procure the funds, “which could be stopped at any moment.”

I respond in kind by stating that an EFT can be sent, secured, and paid out within, max 5 business days.

I told her that 10 days is an outdated company policy that needs to be revisited.

She says there’s nothing she can do but overnight me the release after the 10 days.

Their customer service calls me and asks me if everything is alright, and I tell them that if the idea of an electronic title is supposed to be faster, why in God’s name is it slower? I tell her that her company is not transparent enough and that their policies are outdated, and they treat their customer like account numbers and are not trained to try and handle each case by case.

Customers are human, so listen to them. Train your customer service to answer or obtain answers to difficult questions, and perhaps you will pull your company out of the slums.

Your stocks look horrendous, and it appears it’s because people are banking against you.

You have horrible reviews internet-wide. Get with the program and do better.

The people that work for you are capable, so stop giving them a bad name and make them embarrassed to work for you.

  1. The customer service is poor.

The customer service is poor. The website is not user friendly.

  2. I will never, ever, ever, ever accept a loan from Ally Auto Finance.

I will never, ever, ever, ever accept a loan from Ally Auto Finance. I think what disturbs me most about the 6 year loan, which actually ended up looking like 7 years, is that I walked away from the Ford Dealership thinking I signed up for a 6 year loan with SunTrust Bank. My first bill 45 days later came from Ally at what seemed to be a lower interest rate.

Here’s what happened. Somehow Ally had acquired the loan from SunTrust. So Ally offered 5.77% at 6.5 years as opposed to the 6 year at 6% interest rate I thought I got. I didn’t realize it was a 6.5 loan until the month I thought I was due to pay off the loan. I have history with SunTrust. There’s no way I would have left the dealership with an Ally Finance. Ally was too new at the time for me to take them seriously.

Ally Auto Finance put me through pure drama for 6.5 years reporting me to the credit bureaus over 40 times in 6 years, even though I paid them every month and was not 60 days past due like they said I was. Clearly, if I were that much of a problem the car would have been repossessed.

I had been paying them through my Credit Unions Bill Pay and not their website. On the last year of finance, their system listed that I owed them in “previous year due” THE SAME AMOUNT as the “total amount due”, making it very hard to even determine what was really going on. It wasn’t until I started making double payments that I noticed that equal amounts were being applied to two separate accounts.

Each time I called Ally, they were more concerned with gaining access to my checking account so that they could withdraw anytime they choose than helping me determine the problem.

Apparently, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) is in on it with them, as well, because each time I reported them there, the case was quickly closed due to it being considered an “internal matter”. It wasn’t until after I submitted to the BBB, that I received in the mail a breakdown of everything. Logging in to Ally Auto Finance only had my payment history. Nothing more.

  3. I would not recommend.

They have terrible outsourced customer service. They returned my auto payment, even tho my bank account shows no records of this, a week later, then say the payment is late. I use the same banking information to make the same payment, but this time it goes through. All around terrible experience thus far which is messing with my credit score. I would not recommend.

  4. RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

This company is nothing but liars and thieves! Run Away! RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

  5. As soon as I can get away from this company I am gone believe me and I'm working on it stat!

After 4 years of paying on both my accounts with this company in a timely matter they decided to without permission take 2 extra payments out of my account! I never authorized it , I was not behind not late with my payments! I called them to complain I have other bills put my money back they told me pretty much it was my fault oh well call ur bank and agreed with me I was screwed!

The operator nor their supervisor cared or was helpful they were coy and arrogant. They told me to call my bank well i did and I placed fraudulent charges it’s against the law to do tht! I will tell everyone I meet and every review I see I will right about this company! They didn’t care tht their mistake took from my other bills my 4 kids my groceries my electric bill my house payment the overdrafts this caused !

I pay all my bills for the month all at once the same day! They basically said oh well ur screwed! Infact thts wht the operator did say when I said so basically I’m screwed he said yes! Then told me his supervisor isn’t gonna do crap for me and he was right ! As soon as I can get away from this company I am gone believe me and I’m working on it stat!

  6. I would avoid them at all costs if I were you!

I am close to the payoff date of my car and was going to pay it off this week only to find out that I was charged a random fee of $170.00. I called customer service and was told that this was not a fee and she “apologized” but was unable to tell me what the fee was and that it could not be waived.

I asked to speak to a manager and was then placed no hold and the same person got on the phone and told me that this was a daily finance charge at first and then she changed to this was always what was due on my account.

I spent an entire hour on the phone with them for no resolution and when I asked for corporate’s information was told that all she could give me was a PO box address. This company is terrible their customer service is deplorable. I would avoid them at all costs if I were you!

  10. your horrible decision to finance a car with ally.

For the love of God don’t use this lender for anything. The harassing phone calls, poor customer service and inability to communicate with the borrower are outright ridiculous. I’ve had my vehicle financed with them for a month and it has been the worst experience I’ve ever had financing a vehicle.

It’s no surprise that the government had to bail out this failing bank. Their business practices are very similar to the government. Inefficient and neglectful to the consumer. Please steer clear, otherwise you’ll find yourself writing a review on trying to make yourself feel better about your horrible decision to finance a car with ally.

  11. Scammer

My brother, who passed away earlier this year had a vehicle financed through Ally. I was in negotiation with them to purchase the vehicle. I offered them a cash payout. My last offer was never responded to. Then they came out to my brother’s and repossessed the vehicle without even responding to my last offer.

On top of that I paid them $1000 to stop repossession until his estate went to probate. Unbelievable. Afterwards, I requested a payment reconstruction dated back to the date of my brothers death. The lady said she would over night it to me. Instead of a payment reconstruction, they took the truck, and night has fallen several times and I have yet to received the information.

  12. Wish I didn't have to give them a rating at all.

This company is full of it..that’s all I have to say. I will never ever ever ever get auto finance through this company again. Wish I didn’t have to give them a rating at all.

  13. unbelievably bad

so these idiots double drafted my payment… and then of course could only refund me “within 7-10 days by check” … so while i’m trying to buy a house.. my account is sitting in overdraft status. thanks a heap, morons.

  14. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY ALLY

Worst experience did not receive any paperwork from bank for my auto loan. No one is helping all they say is so sorry but problem still exist . I have car for 3 months made payments on time but still don’t have letter of permission to register auto in NY.

3 months have received tickets on car n also was told today if car is still on street with no plates that will tow me. Can’t get nowhere with company gonna contact lawyer n banking security on matter.

Stay away from this company all the calls r sent over seas foreign country n hard to understand them n I’m sure it’s hard for them to understand me. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY ALLY
