Ally Auto Finance

Ally Auto Is Probably Not Worth The Hassle

The bad things that you have heard and read about Ally Auto Finance are probably true.

This is the first negative review that I have EVER written about a company but I feel compelled to do so.

I will NEVER EVER use Ally Auto again. And I encourage you to make sure you ask your car salesman which bank they use.

Trust me, Ally Auto is probably not worth the hassle. For me, I purchased a car with the loan through Ally Auto.

Already, their website isn’t very fleshed out, meaning, you cannot download an electronic copy of your title.

You have to contact them and request that they send it to you. After about 5 payments, I paid the rest of the sum off in a large payment, it was an EFT.

According to their website “If you pay with any other method like a personal check or online payment, we’ll mail the title or lien release in accordance with your state’s requirements.”

So, I called them and reached the Philippines (outsourced customer service, never a good sign), all they could tell me is that I would have to wait 10 days for the release and then another 3 to 5 days to receive the Lien Release or Title.

I live in California and the Title is Electronic. I check California’s laws and nowhere is it indicated that a payment holding of 10 days is necessary.

I contact them back, in the Philippines, I tell them that 10 days isn’t law and why aren’t they releasing my title.

After calling and chatting on their website 3 times, I get transferred to their lien release department (also outsourced to a third party holder).

Of course since they’re outsourced they don’t even understand the situation, they just have to wait for Ally to notify them.

I call Ally back, probably a total of 10 times, I speak to a team lead who continues to repeat himself until I tell him that repeating himself and treating me like just some account is not good business practice and does not help the situation.

I finally speak to someone who can help and she tells me that the 10-day holding is not a state required policy but a company wide policy in order to procure the funds “which could be stopped at any moment”.

I respond in kind by stating that an EFT can be sent, secured and paid out within, max 5 business days.

I told her that 10 days is an outdated company policy which needs to be revisited.

She says there’s nothing she can do but overnight me the release after the 10 days.

Their customer service calls me and asks me if everything is alright and I tell them that, if the idea of an electronic title is supposed to be faster, why in God’s name is it slower? I tell her that her company is not transparent enough and that their policies are outdated and they treat their customer like account numbers and are not trained to try and handle each case by case.

Customer’s are human, so listen to them. Train your customer service to be able to answer or obtain answers to difficult questions and perhaps you will pull your company out of the slums.

Your stocks look horrendous and it appears it’s because people are banking against you.

You have horrible reviews internet wide. Get with the program and do better.

The people that work for you are capable so stop giving them a bad name and make them embarrassed to work for you.

your horrible decision to finance a car with ally.

For the love of God don’t use this lender for anything. The harassing phone calls, poor customer service and inability to communicate with the borrower are outright ridiculous. I’ve had my vehicle financed with them for a month and it has been the worst experience I’ve ever had financing a vehicle.

It’s no surprise that the government had to bail out this failing bank. Their business practices are very similar to the government. Inefficient and neglectful to the consumer. Please steer clear, otherwise you’ll find yourself writing a review on trying to make yourself feel better about your horrible decision to finance a car with ally.

    Bad Service

they have me lat and damage my credit and i have every receipt from day one guys so be careful if you want to damage your credit go for it and there interest rate higher than local bank so do not trust the dealer

I would avoid them at all costs if I were you!

I am close to the payoff date of my car and was going to pay it off this week only to find out that I was charged a random fee of $170.00. I called customer service and was told that this was not a fee and she “apologized” but was unable to tell me what the fee was and that it could not be waived.

I asked to speak to a manager and was then placed no hold and the same person got on the phone and told me that this was a daily finance charge at first and then she changed to this was always what was due on my account.

I spent an entire hour on the phone with them for no resolution and when I asked for corporate’s information was told that all she could give me was a PO box address. This company is terrible their customer service is deplorable. I would avoid them at all costs if I were you!

As soon as I can get away from this company I am gone believe me and I'm working on it stat!

After 4 years of paying on both my accounts with this company in a timely matter they decided to without permission take 2 extra payments out of my account! I never authorized it , I was not behind not late with my payments! I called them to complain I have other bills put my money back they told me pretty much it was my fault oh well call ur bank and agreed with me I was screwed!

The operator nor their supervisor cared or was helpful they were coy and arrogant. They told me to call my bank well i did and I placed fraudulent charges it’s against the law to do tht! I will tell everyone I meet and every review I see I will right about this company! They didn’t care tht their mistake took from my other bills my 4 kids my groceries my electric bill my house payment the overdrafts this caused !

I pay all my bills for the month all at once the same day! They basically said oh well ur screwed! Infact thts wht the operator did say when I said so basically I’m screwed he said yes! Then told me his supervisor isn’t gonna do crap for me and he was right ! As soon as I can get away from this company I am gone believe me and I’m working on it stat!

    I would not recommend.

They have terrible outsourced customer service. They returned my auto payment, even tho my bank account shows no records of this, a week later, then say the payment is late. I use the same banking information to make the same payment, but this time it goes through. All around terrible experience thus far which is messing with my credit score. I would not recommend.

I will never, ever, ever, ever accept a loan from Ally Auto Finance.

I will never, ever, ever, ever accept a loan from Ally Auto Finance. I think what disturbs me most about the 6 year loan, which actually ended up looking like 7 years, is that I walked away from the Ford Dealership thinking I signed up for a 6 year loan with SunTrust Bank. My first bill 45 days later came from Ally at what seemed to be a lower interest rate.

Here’s what happened. Somehow Ally had acquired the loan from SunTrust. So Ally offered 5.77% at 6.5 years as opposed to the 6 year at 6% interest rate I thought I got. I didn’t realize it was a 6.5 loan until the month I thought I was due to pay off the loan. I have history with SunTrust. There’s no way I would have left the dealership with an Ally Finance. Ally was too new at the time for me to take them seriously.

Ally Auto Finance put me through pure drama for 6.5 years reporting me to the credit bureaus over 40 times in 6 years, even though I paid them every month and was not 60 days past due like they said I was. Clearly, if I were that much of a problem the car would have been repossessed.

I had been paying them through my Credit Unions Bill Pay and not their website. On the last year of finance, their system listed that I owed them in “previous year due” THE SAME AMOUNT as the “total amount due”, making it very hard to even determine what was really going on. It wasn’t until I started making double payments that I noticed that equal amounts were being applied to two separate accounts.

Each time I called Ally, they were more concerned with gaining access to my checking account so that they could withdraw anytime they choose than helping me determine the problem.

Apparently, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) is in on it with them, as well, because each time I reported them there, the case was quickly closed due to it being considered an “internal matter”. It wasn’t until after I submitted to the BBB, that I received in the mail a breakdown of everything. Logging in to Ally Auto Finance only had my payment history. Nothing more.

They SUCK!!! I hate this finance company.

This is the rudest place I have ever dealt with. Called to get a payment deferred and they asked if the car had been wrecked.. I said no I just need to defer a payment. They said I did not qualify for a deferment.

NO one speaks English. I also called to get my pay off and it took twice to get someone to finally answer my question and she was rude as hell and wanted to know why I needed my pay off. Wished I could give them a zero rating. They SUCK!!! I hate this finance company.

  12. Jessica Garcia

    Don't ever use them

I don’t even want to give them 1 star. Sent a payoff check 4 weeks ago and even tho I have the name of the person who signed for it, they never received it. So they lost it. Re issued another and here we are a week later and nothing.

They always say the same thing when I call..”please give it a few more days”..why? So you can keep adding fees and reporting it to my credit bc I’m late on a payment? You had/have a $20,000 in your possession and you won’t pay off my car! My credit dropped 45 points bc of their negligence yet they don’t care at all.

They call everyday for my past due payment but can’t seem to apply a payoff. Useless company and I have contacted the BBB and turned to social media for some kind of help. Don’t ever use them

Terrible lending company Good luck trying to set up on line account.

Terrible lending company Good luck trying to set up on line account. For more than one vehicle. Second and last time we deal with them. My personal bank wont even deal with them due to so many problems they experience. When we go to get another vehicle and they say ally is financing it we are going else where.

No one should ever use Ally.

Having an Ally auto loan was the worst experience I’ve ever had. Every time I talked to them they did not listen at all. I initially had signed on this loan with my ex.

When I left him he kept the truck but my name was still on it. When I went to sell the truck because my ex had missed the payment I talked Ally them multiple times about the fact that I was selling the truck and they would get paid in full soon but that being a single mom I could not afford to pay the late payment to hold them off until the payment went through. I was transferred three times to higher up managers and all of them said there was no way for them to keep it from going to the credit company.

All they would ever say is “How will you be making a payment today”. They still sent the loan to the credit company even after they had talked to the car dealership about the payoff amount. My credit score which was 810 is now at 679 all because they refused to help me. They do not care one bit about their customers, only about their money. No one should ever use Ally.

    Unbelievably bad

so these idiots double drafted my payment… and then of course could only refund me “within 7-10 days by check” … so while i’m trying to buy a house.. my account is sitting in overdraft status. thanks a heap, morons.

IF YOU CAN, DEAL WITH ANOTHER COMPANY NOT THIS ONE.

ALLY IS HORRIBLE. ALLY IS HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. My senior citizen father who has one reliable vehicle which was wrongfully repossessed because of a mistake one of there customer service rep made because she typed in the wrong card number provided to her.

Ally didn’t even bother calling to say pymt was not made or received and came 2wks later Ally had the car repossessed @ 2am. Long story short, they never went back to listen to the so called ” recorded line” to verify that is was a mistake on their end. They just kept saying WE provided them the wrong card number.

Ally been moving the vehicle from Staten Island (where we live) to Long Island to now some place in Bordentown , New Jersey. How is my 80 yr old father going to go all the way out there (which is 3hrs away) to pick up a car that should not have been repossessed in the first place ?THEY ARE IN NO WAY AT ALL TRYING TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE. AGAIN, ALLY IS HORRIBLE.

IF YOU CAN, DEAL WITH ANOTHER COMPANY NOT THIS ONE. Also, till this day they have not even apologize. I hope they go out of business because they are horrible and treat customers horribly. Save yourself and the ones you love by not dealing with company at all.

If I had time, I post something a couple of times a week to help DECREASE their business… we are starting the process of taking their behinds to court for wrongful repossession… ALLY IS HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE
