Upright Law is SCAM! They are overcharging by 1500.00. I found out that I could have done the exact same bankruptcy by hiring a paralegal for 350$.

Yep, the person I spoke with was very pleasant, helpful and also encouraging. toward the end of last year (2019) my household was feeling the pinch of me not working and all our bills were just getting too high to even try to bring the balances down, not that I did not try. but after looking online and reading some reviews, I called Upright Law, spoke with a rep, even went as far as setting up auto payments with them of $400 every month, and when the total amount ($1975) was paid in full THEN they will file my paperwork, the rep even said to me that if I needed to stop the bankruptcy and cancel I can do so, but do so within at least 2 weeks before the first payment is taken out, I said ok. But that little voice inside told me too keep on looking for a lawyer, and when I found and WHO is WLLING to allow me to pay in payments for the remaining costs of the bankruptcy, I called Upright Law, left a message with the rep to whom I spoke with and told him that I am going to cancel our arrangement because I just could not afford their payment arrangements, and do you know that rep that so easily got me to go with the company NEVER gave me and call back to find out why I was cancelling. Now, the total cost if Upright DID do my bankruptcy would have costed my family $1975.00, and I know that’s about the going rate for this service. But what really pissed me off is that they STILL took my money OUT of my bank account and did not even say thank you !!! I was so upset that the other firm I decided to go with told me that they will do everything to help my family, all I needed to do was to make the first down payment of $375 and then they will file all the paperwork needed for my bankruptcy to start, then with a monthly payment between $100 and $200 a month they will represent my bankruptcy to the courts. Upright Law NEVER gave me that kind of opportunity what so EVER !!! So now, since they took my money out, they sent a ripple effect through my bank account which has left my family so behind in our other bills and when I called and spoke with a ” “, about them taking out my money, she tried so hard to get me to stay she even asked what made me decide to cancel, I told her that I can not do any business with a company that will take my money knowingly after I left several messages about cancelling, NEVER getting a call back asking WHY. And what really set me a fire was the fact that to get my money back, it will take 30 to 45 days for a paper check !!! When she heard my discontent with that, she reassured me they will get it out to me ASAP. I KNOW that a company, any company can return any amount of funds back to an account within 48 to 72 hours, she said that her company is not set up for any type of return payments the only type of return is by paper check only.I now that if a company has the means to withdrawal from another’s bank account, they HAVE the means on how to return said money back into that parties account. And now I have read some of the other complaints by people, I doubt that I will EVER see that paper check. So if you are a hard working person with a family to support and you need a bankruptcy lawyer, PLEASE SO NOT CALL UPRIGHT LAW, especially if you work hard for your money and don’t want anyone to just rip you off !!!
They tried that shit with me. I gave the $100 to start. They moved quick and had an attorney call me that evening. Before I signed up I asked Dakota the “sales rep” would I be charged anything more than the $2260 he said no, the $2260 covers fee covers everything , the filing, and attorneys and I would not be charged anymore. AFTER I sign up ,I look through the contact and it goes to say they will charge me 3,040!!! for a total of $5,000 so I called and cancelled , They told me it has to be reviewed by whoever and would get back which I didn’t they would since they had already lied to me. They sent the cancellation email but never responded back to me. I had the $2060 scheduled to be taken out the following week but I didn’t trust them so I called my bank told them the deal with Downright and had the card cancelled so good luck to Downright if they try to run my card cause they got played!!!!! LOL
Poor lawyer's
Their Lawyer’s are Incompetent. They don’t tell you it cost you extra to reaffirm you’re home. It cost me an extra 125. 00 dollars for my mortgage company use their lawyer’s to reaffirm my home. This lawyer didn’t have all my paperwork before going to court. Didn’t reaffirm my home until Jan 16th of this year. When I was discharged Dec.24th. This lawyer didn’t tell me that my utility company would charge me 350 dollars for new service, when I’ve been in my home for 21 years. I urge everyone to not go threw these lawyer’s. It cost me 1836 dollars plus 700 dollars for new utility hook up and 125.00 dollars for my mortgage company to reaffirm my home. So it cost me more and I could have gone threw a better lawyer that would have cost me the same with better service.
After calling many times to Up right law. For my refund always another story. Do not trust this so called law firm bad. Law firm . How can they operate like this.

Upright law is a scam haven’t received refund in moths now
They called me and gave me two attorneys names. They gave me first attorney and changed it to a second Dennis Carey, who accepted me as client and set up plan for $2oo monthly starting on Feb 3,2020.
Now I find out it’s a scam.

I spent Way to much money ! When I thought About it more and more that I did Not want to follow through with filing bankruptcy and I asked For a refund they said Ok but would have to talk with someone about it then was told that if I canceled I would Not see my money back because most to all of my money was to pay for a couple calls and emails such bull shit !! Stay far away people it’s a huge scam

Upright law is a great company to filee your bankruptcy with. It’s as simple as riding a bike. Only, I said only if your getting your documents that your attorney needs to do his or her part for your petition. If you want to be stress free you got to have patience because it’s a working progress. Im statisfied with the work my attorney has done for my case. I filed a chapter 7 and it’s well with my case. I go to court this month ????????
Scam
I canceled a bankruptcy case in October and after being charged for absolutely no work I’ve yet to receive my 548 dollar refund as well as having been told numerous lies about the status of my money. If anyone is thinking of using this firm please don’t as it is a scam. All you will get are automated phone calls and LIES. I would give them a less than zero rating.
Downright liars
They asked for an account to ‘hold’ a spot for my charge. They promised my charge account would not be charged until I had agreed and sent them an email confirming the charge if I decided to use them. I saw the $2000 charge on my card and disputed it. They then called me and asked what the problem was, I told them they never had permission to charge it, and they were very polite but charged my card anyway. They should be arrested. They are criminal, not just overzealous.
These people are the biggest RIP OFFS I have ever come across. They are predators of the poor and people looking for relief from predators like them. I am warning and alerting ever one I can about these horrible takers. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SO CALLED COMPANY THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN!!! Greedy slick weasel salesman took my money.As soon as are phone conversation ended he canceled my account and referred me else where and refused to refund my money for 40 days. Iv called every other day trying to communicating with them still no money and getting the same run around.stay away come this scam!!
Where’s my money
Had to pay in full to get started. Changed my mind. Then was told I still would be charged fees occurred (I hadn’t even seen the attorney yet) around 600.00. Then was told it would take 45 days for refund. (900). After 45 days I called and they said oh I don’t know why they told you 45, should be 90. After 90 days I called and was told they are cutting checks the end of the month. The end of the month came and went. I called, then they are backlogged. I’ll make another call tomorrow. I believe I can kiss my money goodbye. Do NOT use this company!!!!Go ti a local bankruptcy lawyer!!!!
Totally A Scam
Still haven’t received my refund from 2018 and it’s now almost 2020.???? These people are getting payed and F****** over SO many people. They charge you to call them basically. I NEVER heard from a lawyer. They even blocked my number from calling. Because I was calling asking about my refund. I REGRET DEALING WITH THESE PEOPLE. I found other help elsewhere for little to nothing to file bankruptcy and it was discharged within 3-4 months. I paid upright 700 total and got NO help.

I got taken
1989.00 dollars lost . I paid these people and got a lawyer , because of my tax issue she couldn’t help . She informed me that I needed to contact up right for a refund , so I called and they told me 30 to 45 business days . 74 days and endless calls and all get sorry we have back logs of refunds . Maybe a class action lawsuit is in order
