Thrifty Propane kept us waiting

I saw the advertisement from Thrifty Propane about the lower prices for the refurbished tank and fill.

I was happy about the purchase as the advertised price was quite common, and I thought I would spend the entire winter with my order.

So, I ordered both from Thrifty Propane in Aug 2015.

When I tried to order, they asked me to pay in advance to make the delivery fastest as there were many orders pending the ones with advance payment would be given priority.

I made the payment.

However, they also added that the delivery was not possible before September.

I was ready to wait by then. But, the tank and fill never came, and September was about to finish. So, I called the customer center of Thrifty Propane.

With a lot of struggle and long queues, I reached someone live. I told him about the issue and wanted an explanation.

I live with my sister, and we both are senior citizens.

That guy told me that they are facing problems with the shortage of drivers and the latest delivery they can schedule was for 22nd October 2015.

He hung up and did not care to know what I had to say. We did not know what to do and decided to wait until then.

In the meantime, we started using an electric heater. I was waiting for 22nd October, and it was getting difficult to stay in that cold weather.

We also were sick and had to consult a doctor for antibiotics. 22nd October came and went, and there was no delivery sign.

I was distraught and felt helpless. I again started trying to contact the customer care number, but I was not able to reach a live person this time.

However, I was able to get a representative from the online chat option on their website.

This person informed me that the delivery guy had some personal emergency and was not available, and he did not give any date as well. I was frustrated and discussed it with my sister.

We decided to contact Better Business Bureau.

Maybe they could pressurize Thrifty Propane into making arrangements for our tank and fill delivery. I was not so sure about that decision, but we had no other option.

It was getting difficult every other day to survive in that weather, but Thrifty Propane was not ready to deliver the reimbursement. I wanted my order delivered to my door.

Otherwise, I wanted my money. We have few savings and nothing much to get another tank and fill somewhere else. And we wanted the money badly.

They got us with the false advertisement, and they never wanted to deliver our order.

I am going to try until I get the solution for this. I have spent $1000 to date on demand and my medical expenses, which seem nothing to Thrifty Propane.

Thrifty Propane is the worst company I have done business with, and I will never repeat this mistake.

I wish I had googled about their bad reviews and lawsuits ????

  1. VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER

    I spoke to someone at thrifty propane on March 16th, explaining that I was down to 5% and pre-bought 1,000 gallons and needed it delivered as soon as possible. I ran out of propane on March 23rd after keeping my thermostat set at 58 degrees.

    After multiple calls, still no propane!!! They informed me they would bring it sooner if I Paid $300 for propane I already own!!! What a bunch of dirtbags!!!

  2. Horrible company. Can’t get gas that we pre-bought

    So we called on March 4th and had 280 gallons in our pre-buy left but opted to pre-buy another 1000. I told them we were at 20% and needed a fill. No problem….right…we are within the two-week window.

    It went down to 5% last week started calling them up every day multiple times.

    No one answers. Finally, I Spoke to 2 individuals, and they said they would call the driver and ask for a return call. I never got it.

    We got a partial fill from a competitor after running out of propane yesterday.

    At this point still, no propane and We want our money back. We will never deal with this company again. We are going to contact the attorney general and BBB. My concern is we will not get our gas or propane from them before they go under.

  3. Worst company I have ever dealt with, I tried calling them, but all I get is to leave a message saying their mailbox is full.

    I tried at least five times trying to order a fill. Now by gauge is at 5%, I went out and bought an electric heater just in case I needed it.

    I am a prebuy customer, so they already have my money, so they probable deliver to all the pay now customer, and if there is any left, I might get it, So BEWARE you might get the same service that I got.

  4. Left without heat

    Placed an order for propane on Feb 19th at 20% in tank. Today, you were left without heat and promised that it would be delivered by the end of the workday. Guess what a no-show! You can get them to answer the phone, several hang-ups, and rude customer service.

    My husband is 73 years old with lung cancer, and they have no care whatsoever.

    I’m so afraid he will get sick because of the stupidity and lies. Do not order from these scam artists!

  5. Worst Ever

    I bought a tank from Thrifty & I was a loyal customer for a few years despite lousy service. I placed an order for a fill on September 17 & after a couple of weeks without hearing anything, I started calling and having online “chats” with “Christine.”

    Every time I communicated with them, they promised to call back or e-mail back — but never did.

    Finally, over a month had passed since I placed the order – so I canceled & will buy propane elsewhere from now on. If I could give zero stars, I would. This outfit is genuinely terrible.

    Deliveries never come and no answering phone calls, voice messages, or emails, but they sure know how to send emails.

  7. Best deal.

    I cant give them such low ratings as most i read about. We bought a few reconditioned tanks and gas around 2013 to 2016 for new gas heating systems installed…tanks are well finished plumbing is a bit sloppy but up to code.

    Their prices were much lower than competition in Poconos Pa.There were a few hidden fees and delays but nothing critical.

  8. Out of propane even after numerous calls for a fill

    I called Thrifty Propane starting on February 15,2019 explaining our tank was at 20% and we needed a fill. I was instructed per a automated system to leave my name etc which I did. I placed at least 15+ calls since then and have only been able to talk to a real person once which heMatk at ext 807, explained to me that even though we are instructed to leave a message with our info for the fill, they DO NOT listen to these messages. I tried to file a complaint on their site which not to my surprise I was instructed AGAIN to leave a message which I was unable to do because the voicemail was FULL. This is on the complaint line. It is now March 3rd and during these days with temperatures in the teens and now headed to single digits we are out of propane and have been for days. I was able to tell customer service Mark, ext 807 that we were out. That means NO HEAT NO COOKING. He told me he would talk to his supervisor about a fill and would call me back, that was four days ago and still NO DELIVERY. I have been with company for several years and this is the second time they have put us in this position within a care on their part. I have turned them into the Attorney General and getting ready to file a complaint with Ohio BBB.

  9. Avoid them unless you only pay for product on delivery

    Generally low prices but avoid like the plague “pre-paying” for anything. Their delivery responsiveness is horrendous and you cannot get anyware when you attempt to call them. Pay only when the product is delivered (or just use a more reputable company)!!!!

  10. Bait and Swich Company

    THIS IS A BAIT AND SWITCH COMPANY…. They are lowest price for a reason, they get your money and then don’t deliver or say they delivered and create bogus delivery tickets. We started buying from them in 2015 prepaid in the summer. We keep all tickets and excellent records. In the past year we have had problems with getting them to deliver and if they do deliver, they don’t fill, only give us a partial fill when we have prepaid credit. We have let our credit reduce and did not prepay this summer because of this. We called over a month ago to get a fill and was informed that our balance was 173.6 gallons less than what we had on record. They are stating they delivered that amount in Spring of 2018, but we have no ticket or record of receiving. We requested a copy of the ticket and it is obvious that someone had just made the ticket up, as the writing is that of a females and ticket is not filled out like any of the 20 other tickets we have that were prepaid deliveries. We have requested multiple times for a gsp tracking receipt and they are unable to supply one. They refuse to credit us the 173.6, nor deliver that last amount. We have called multiple times for Tiffany, she does not return any calls. We were told to call the Ombudsman, tried that and they do not return calls. We have asked for owner and the refuse to supply that information. We are submitting reviews to each and every review site as well as contacting the Attorney Generals Office.

    hands down the worst business experience of my 68 year old lifetime. do yourself a favor. run away. find another company and avoid the nightmare. how they are allowed to stay in business is beyond me.

  12. Order placed one month ago , guage well into red zone, no propane ever delivered.

    I placed an order about one month ago . My tank was @28%. No delivery has been made despite numerous phone calls, messages left and some assurances that a delivery would come. Tank guage is now 14% with no delivery but more promises from customer service to contact their “dispatch” This company is impossible to deal with. I have no confidence that a delivery will be made before I run out of propane. More contacts with this company results in more lies and run around. I do not recommend this company!

  13. Are you kidding me ?

    Most unprofessional staff I have ever had to deal with, need to order from another supplier since the delivery never came, after full payment. Almost out of fuel, cannot reach anyone, they really do not care ? How can these people sleep at night? Wishing a very painful, terminal, untreatable illness on the entire company.

  14. RUN FROM THIS COMPANY

    OMG If I could give no to negative stars to this company and they way they do business I would. Before ordering, no matter how good a deal that they present, run run run. I am a first time home owner and customer of theirs would ordered for the first time on AUGUST 21st. Yes that is AUG 21st. As of yesterday here is the response from the company was Good Morning Mr. Braccio,

    The delivery has not been made yet. I will contact Dispatch and request a delivery date for you and let you know as soon as I hear back from them. I apologize for any inconvenience.

  15. DO NOT CALL THEM! WORST COMPANY EVER!

    PLEASE READ BEFORE EVEN CALLING THEM. THE WORST COMPANY TO DEAL WITH! I AM GLAD I WAS NEVER A CUSTOMER. I JUST CALLED IN TO GET A QUOTE THE GUY ON THE PHONE WAS SOOOOO RUDE AND VERY UNHELPFUL. WE ENDED UP EXCHANGE WORDS AND JUST HUNG UP THE PHONE!! THIS SHOULD NOT BE AN EXISTING COMPANY BECAUSE THEY CLEARLY DO NOT HAVE CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS!
