The George Washington University Hospital is Scammer

Took sick at work because of a chest pain DC fire took me to GW Hospital 1: 20pm it took more than 2omins to be triage, after triage they place me in a corner MH5 I was in that corner for more than 45 mins before a doctor came, doctor told me I am going to order chest crazy ect. 2 hrs. Later no chest day ect. Only blood taken.

Ive decided to go the bathroom I almost fell a tech caught me and placed me back into bed. 1 hour later a nurse by the name Bella came and said hi, I will be your nurse today that was it, never saw her again. 2 2/1 hours later I saw her walked by never ask if I was okay or if I needed anything. Within 3 hours and 47mins only blood they took from me nothing else. I asked the doctor for pain medication not even that was given to me, I called my mom she prayed for me the pain went away in a little as no time.

At this hospital no one cares everyone just doing their own thing. Whoever is the medical director needs to take a look into their nursing staff attitude towards caring for patients. The technicians work like a hebrew slaves. This Emergency room should. It be functioning like this. This horrible disgusting and people life is at stake. I am actually writing this from the emergency room. Horrible. 31/2 hours doctor ask
ing if I need some tylenol, please I dont need it. Horrible

  1. They sent him home with six perscriptions and never discussed them with him.

I had a bad experience with GW hospital. They barely fed my husband while he was at the hospital for eight days. They would schedule a procedure in the morning and keep postponing it until he had gone all day without eating.

He was already under weight when he entered the hospital. They sent him home with six perscriptions and never discussed them with him.

  2. A clinic sent me to the ER because they believed I had appendicitis.

A clinic sent me to the ER because they believed I had appendicitis. I was in the ER waiting room for 5 hours, and was told that there were sicker people waiting, so my wait would be extended. Once taken back into the ER a nurse told me I had a sky high white blood cell count, then walked away. I remained in the ER for 10+ hours as multiple doctors tried to figure out what was wrong.

There seemed to be little communication between doctors, as I had to keep explaining my symptoms. Finally I was admitted to the hospital and brought to a room. Despite having a fever of over 100 degrees the nurses only checked on me every 3 hours or so, and the doctor only came by once.

  3. If I could give a negative rating I definitely would. Stay away!!!!!

My brother went to the emergency room at GW on 11/6, he spent 43 hours in the emergency room even though he had been admitted to the hospital within 24 hours of his arrival. To my surprise this was the nastiest and most disgusting ER I have ever seen. He was in a bed that had blood and poop on it. It looked like it had never been cleaned. During his stay in the ER he was bounce around from hallways to closet size rooms.

There was blood on the floors and other disgusting stuff and no one bothered to clean it. I took plenty of pictures and threaten to go to the media. They finally gave him a descent bed but he was still in the ER for 43 hours. He was released on 11/10 with no answers to why he became ill. If I could give a negative rating I definitely would. Stay away!!!!!

  4. This is not an ER that I would ever return to.

While I understand that at GWU ER there are true emergencies coming in, it was obvious the that ER was used as a walk-in clinic for even the slightest issues, i.e. cold.

Consequently, I waited in the waiting room for well over two hours with a nosebleed that had persisted for 5 hours. Being on two blood thinners from a recent Angioplasty, any other hospital would have seen that as a bigger issue than a cold.

When I was finally taken back, I was on a stretcher in the middle of the ER and sat there for 45 minutes before even being acknowledged.

  5. This place is seriously understaffed.

This place is seriously understaffed. It is a Thursday night, I have been waiting in the ER for 3 hour and they will not give me a time frame. I am urinating blood and considering going home, that is how hopeless I feel.

Also, they make sure to have you sign legal forms and verify your insurance, they are efficient with that, but care is hard to come by. There has to be a better option in an emergency. This ER is not it.

  6. This hospital is terrible.

This hospital is terrible. I’ve only been in the ER, so I can’t speak for the rest of it, but it is a nightmare. I went for a kidney issue and came out with pneumonia. The doctors do the absolute bare minimum to make sure you don’t die, and then they send you home. Pretty sure my blood is still on the floor of room 18.

  7. This is beyond unprofessional.

I’m currently here, in the Emergency Dept, been sitting here for over 45 mins with a fever of 101.2 and I still have NOT been seen, yet people who came in after me are being seen!

I have flu-like/Strep symptoms and a high fever and yet I am still waiting to be seen?! What kind of care is that? I’m sitting here in immense pain and crying and running a high fever, why haven’t I been seen? This is beyond unprofessional.

  8. This is typical of my experience here. Dr Michael Irwig should try harder to be on time

I’m in the waiting room at GW University Hospital waiting for a doctor’s appointment I made three months ago. It’s an appointment, not the emergency room. So far I’ve been waiting for 50 minutes.

This is typical of my experience here. Dr Michael Irwig should try harder to be on time, or call me so I can do something useful instead of sitting here for at least one hour for every appointment. My time is valuable also. Is a phone call so difficult?

  9. My daughter was taken to the ER last night by two chaperones.

My daughter was taken to the ER last night by two chaperones. She is on her 8th grade Washington DC field trip. She arrived a little before 11:00 pm and was not in a room for over 3 hours. She was seen by 3 people( 10 minutes total)and given the medicine I had said she needed for an issue she had had last summer.

I could tell by a picture she sent me what the problem was since she had it before. I was told by the chaperone the wait may be long, but never imagined over 3 hours. Then she had to wait over an hour for medicine to take before leaving.

I recently visited a local hospital (central Illinois) and took another daughter for a fractured wrist. In and out x rays and all with a dx in an 1 hr. and 15 minutes. Next day took same daughter to a prompt care facility in Springfield, IL for a cast and another review of her xrays.

  10. DANGEROUSLY UNSANITARY - DO NOT COME HERE

I was recently diagnosed with a vaginal infection of Enterobactor aerogenes. This is a hospital-acquired antibiotic-resistant species.

Just days before going to GW, I got a clean bill of health from my gynecologist. Then I went to GW several times after I was bitten by an animal for preventative rabies vaccine injections. The treatment included a week-long course of antibiotics,

which wreaked havoc throughout my otherwise perfectly healthy body. On one of my visits, I had a pelvic exam to look into some of these problems. Several days later, I went back to my normal gynecologist and she diagnosed me with this infection.

  11. Spent half a day in the ER - and was misdiagnosed and sent home with the wrong meds. Sad.

Spent half a day in the ER – and was misdiagnosed and sent home with the wrong meds. Sad.

Ended up going to Holy Cross ER the next morning. They sent me up one floor to “Urgent Care.” Fast, efficient, and cheaper.

  12. The urology team rocks!!

I recently underwent a Laparoscopic Robotic Assisted Prostatectomy. In the past I’ve never thought to or had any reason to comment on a person or place, however, my overall experience drove me to comment. I was blown away by the professionalism of the hospital staff and doctors.

It was clear they are out to be the best of the best! The bottom line – This institution should be a model for everyone to follow. The urology team rocks!!

  13. dont trust doctors they steal, kill and destroy

this is the worst hospital i ever went to… obgyn james benson told me i was NOT pregnant gave me a very painful sonogram and i end up having a miscarriage at 4 months ! i request my records from his office and he states that he confirmed my pregnancy and that i went to see him for irregular periods which is all a lie !

i was feeling the baby move up until the day i seen him. he had a student follow him in the process of becoming a doctor and all she could do was look at me amd cry smh i didnt know why until i started bleeding 4 days later .

i bled for 3 whole weeks and my hcg level was still 72 ! no way my urine was negative like he told me and he took 2 sonogram pictures and left out the room ! what are you taking pictures of and the screen was so dark we couod barely see anything ao i dint understand how he could . dont trust doctors they steal, kill and destroy

  14. Dont use this company.

I have a bill for almost $5,000 that I feel is not justified considering the circumstances. I believe GWMC failed me twice: 1. Said I didn’t have any fractures or broken ribs (I had three) and 2. Sending me home, with shortness of breath for the Weekend, without taking another X-ray. I was hospitalize for three days, lost income and suffered severe pain while receiving treatment.

  15. The George Washington University Hospital is Bad Services.
