Sibley Memorial Hospital

Think twice about going to Sibley!

I had one of the worst experiences with the service in the cafeteria. My dining experience was on during the dinner hours. The server/worker at the grill was very rude. There was eggplant on the menu and I selected the slice that I wanted. The person working the area refused to honor my request and gave me what he wanted me to have.

However, when a person behind me made a similar request he gave them the slice without a problem. When I bought this to his attention he said in an abrasive manner ” If you have a problem with it, go tell the manager.” This was far from the stellar customer service I am accustom to receiving.

I did share the experience with the manger. He apologized. However, my concern is that if an employee feels that comfortable with abrasively saying to a customer “Go tell the manager”- he clearly feels that there will be no consequences for his behavior or actions. I personally feel the same way. The manager did not make me feel that he would address the situation. It makes me question who’s in charge the worker or the manager?

  1. because there is no guarantee you will lever make it out alive!!

I will never go back to Sibley Hospital again in my life! The care received was abysmal, and that is putting it mildy. From the below standard care of nurses and the majority of the doctors there, it was the most mismanaged and disoriented motley crew I have ever seen in my entire life.

It was a horrible experience and reminded me of the movie “Ship of Fools” and “A Night at the Opera”-Unfortunately that is how pathetic this hospital is. God help anyone that is ever hospitalized there for even a single day, because there is no guarantee you will lever make it out alive!!

  2. This was OUTRAGEOUS.

ER – lousy! I wondered why in the world it takes so long to get seen and get out of this ER. I f ound out that there is a total disconnect between DOCs and nurses and “med techs”.

It appears to be personality battles between these parties. Nurses were too good to bring a bedpan for my mom and when no one could locate her nurse,

who just suddenly disappeared along with the “charge” nurse and another nurse, I asked another nurse w ho said “she’s not my patient” so mom wet herself. This was OUTRAGEOUS.

There is disorganization in this ER bigtime. Nurses and med techs just walking around, sitting around, and some just cant be found? I think some really dont like others which also plays a role here.

  3. Bad Service Provide

Sibley Hospital is by far the worst hospital I have ever had the misfortune of walking into in my entire life. A surgeon by the name of Dr. Hasan A. Zia nearly killed a close friend of mine by not listening or believing his complaints.

I have heard that he is responsible for at least one awful death in that hospital (some say many more), and I believed it was my moral and civic responsibility to expose this doctor for what at least one person who knows him well has referred to him as-which is a “Psychopath”.

The scariest thing is that he is head of the ICU and from my understanding one former patient has referred to the his ICU where he is in charge as “The Roach Motel”-as in “once you check in you don’t check back out”!

This doctor’s license to practice medicine should be taken from him before he causes more harm and death to other patients at Sibley Hospital!!

  4. Scammer

As a courtesy I informed Sibley’s administration but haven’t had the courtesy of even a form letter response. Am complaining now to the DC Government, Joint Accreditation folks and anyone who will listen; perhaps they can finally persuade Messrs.

Sloan and Price and their staff to treat their patients humanely. I hope Mr. Deming’s ghost is watching. Thanks, Catherine E. Holmes, McLean, VA

  5. Please DO NOT USE this guy.

I drove myself to Sibley Hospital Emergency Room following a spider bite, was admitted and spent the worst six days of my life there. The experience will end up costing me and my insurance company $15 K,

I have a huge ugly scar and am still trying to recover physically and emotionally from that traumatic week with inadequate medication, unacceptable noise levels, being abandoned in a wheel chair for several hours following an MRI and being kicked out of my room when they discovered my roommate had MRSA.

  7. Very Bad

we are better at saving lives than figuring out what’s wrong”. In the end the Dr. stooped down, face to face & told me I was being released & that even with several scans & blood tests, they had no answer for possible causes of my primary or secondary concerns & I should see my primary Dr. if the symptoms persisted. Yet, my insurance claim is well over $5k & I received a .50 cent discount on my copay.

However, Google has since provided in depth medical info that gave me probable cause & paths of medical pursuit. None of those that recommended Sibley believed me until I showed the paperwork. Fortunately my primary took extra steps & I began a successful treatment plan for my condition. In the future I’ll just wait to see my primary when possible.

  8. NO IT IS NOT

At this time the male charge nurse came in and I explained my care from her and he addressed the blood that was pouring from my arm. The nurse supervisor Ms. W, RN, arrived and stood closely to the doorway and I invited her closer into my room #19 to listen in on my complaint. She apologized and agreed that the service I experienced from my nurse was unacceptable.

I have been a healthcare provider for over 9 years and I have never treated a patient in this manner. I take pride in my job no matter how stressful the day is because I always think about what if it was me….Being a patient at Sibley Memorial ER was a horrible experience.

I am so regretful that I will have a payment rendered to your facility. I will be sure with every chance that I have I will educate society (my community in Chevy Chase, Bethesda, Friendship Heights, and more) of my experiences at SMH.

  10. After reading many reviews about Sibley

After reading many reviews about Sibley, I’ve decided to share my experience in the ER. After developing a perplexing & slightly impairing disorder & visiting a MedStar urgent care with disappointing results, co-workers encouraged me to visit Sibley Memorial since my appointment with my primary was a week away. All promised I would receive superb care & my wait time would be shortened compared to other area ER’s. Having been @ Wash.Hosp. Ctr. before, this was great news. LOL..

  11. If I could give Sibley 10 stars I would.

If I could give Sibley 10 stars I would. From the time I entered the ER doubled over in level 10 pain, to the time I left two days later less a gallbladder, the entire staff was amazing!

I felt great about it because they actually listened to me. I wish I could remember every receptionist, caregiver, cleaning person (Ana thanks for the smile and how are you everyday), nurse, and doctor, so I could thank each of you personally.

To Brian, Simonette, Walter, Rose, and Victoria, thank you for the amazing care pre- and post surgery. For the surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, thanks for removing that nasty gallbladder with precision and care.

  12. Don't normally write reviews but this was really bad.

Staff was very inattentive and dismissive in the ER. We requested to speak to the physician before discharge and he never showed to answer our questions. Tech and nursing staff were also rude and didn’t seem to care. My family member who was the patient,

and I are both physicians ourselves and we were frankly shocked by the lack of service and care. No excuse – the place wasn’t busy at all. If they treated us like that must be worse for someone with no medical background who might not understand what was going on. Don’t normally write reviews but this was really bad.

  15. Sibley Memorial Hospital Scammer

Sibley Hospital Physical Therapy was absolutely horrible.. From my experience this hospital only cares about getting their health insurance payment and has no concern for the patient.

The physical therapists came to the scheduled 30 minute session late, spend 10 minutes on paperwork and in the end I was lucky to have 10 – 15 minutes of actual therapy.

Even after complaining to their so called “Director of Patient Care” nothing improved. I can only conclude that this director must only care about her paycheck, certainly not the patient!

Needless to say I did not finish my doctor’s recommended total number of physical therapy sessions. It would have been a waste… and they still submitted to my insurance an inflated bill! Think twice about going to Sibley!
