Serra Toyota

The quality of service

The quality of Toyota vehicles is unquestionably high. The quality of service from Serra Toyota is unquestionably terrible. Let me count the ways:

When getting a new car, I understandably visited numerous dealers to check out different makes/models, do a little comparison shopping.

This was less than understandable to the thick-heads at Serra.

I told them up front I was not making a decision that day, was not going to purchase a car that day.

They insisted on wasting vast amounts of my time by having one salesman, manager et al after another enter to repeat giving me the hard sell, asking what it would take to get me to buy a car right then and there, have me repeat “nothing, I’m not going to buy one today” and them ignoring my answer.

In retrospect, I should have just walked out, but I knew I might eventually settle on getting a Prius, so I didn’t want to be rude.

When I did eventually decide to buy one, my return visit was “I don’t know if we can give you any sort of deal.” after the previous “we’ll do anything! how low do you want us to go?!?” sales pitch.

Then they told me the paperwork would be super quick to fill out, by which they meant over an hour, but in fairness they botched said paperwork by putting the wrong address on it.

Then they botched putting the license plate on my new car. Then when I encountered an issue with my new car and called to ask about it, they had no clue.

And don’t forget that they set you up with Southeast Toyota Finance.

Also just terrible – when calling to see why my payment hasn’t been processed, they said it may have been forwarded to a different office but goodness, they had no way to find out.

Or get me any information of any kind. Or have any way to talk to anyone who can find it out.

Or register a complaint about anything, either on the phone or the website they told us to go to while on hold (the hold where they told me every 30 seconds how important customer satisfaction is to them).

Seriously: avoid Serra Toyota.

  1. He then tried to sell her an overpriced base model with no options.

I asked for her keys, and they convinced my mother to “let them make it right” by showing her a used car. It was dirty and had body damage…After her test drive, we were again put in a waiting area while they hunted more cars. I asked for her keys again. Another half hour later,

I demanded her keys and finally got them. To salvage the trip, I stopped at a used car dealership a block away. They had a car that she liked, but after driving it, the salesman told us he couldn’t sell it because it was spoken for. He then tried to sell her an overpriced base model with no options.

  6. Another scam artist.

To salvage the trip, I stopped at a used car dealership a block away. They had a car that she liked, but after driving it, the salesman told us he couldn’t sell it because it was spoken for.

He then tried to sell her an overpriced base model with no options. I told her we needed to think about it and would come back the next day. When he gave us his business card, I realized this was another Serra owned lot. Another scam artist.

  7. That is just BAD AND UNEXCEPTABLE!

I saw him spend at least 45 minutes talking to others or at the desk area, that he should have spent fixing my car! I think I will find another place for my service. One – I still think my damage (3 scratches) are there – maybe not, 2 Service Tech just plays and jokes around and not working on the vehicle he has in his bay!

That is just BAD AND UNEXCEPTABLE!! The so called Maint Director watched the tape with me and never said anything to me or said “I am sorry that he was not paying attention to the vehicle” instead just made excuses for why no one said anything about the damages.

  8. Scammer

Three times I have taken my car to this dealership after recieving a recall notice from Toyota. Each of those times they told me the recall was free but I still managed to walk out of there with a $500 bill as they found ” other things wrong” with my Corolla.

This last time they charged me $125 for a part that retails online for $80. I will never take my business to the Serra family of car dealerships again and I hope this review keeps others away as well. They are RIP OFF ARTISTS!

  9. In dealing with Serra Toyota in Birmingham, Al., the salesman(Tommie Dill), came to a price that I found promising.

In dealing with Serra Toyota in Birmingham, Al., the salesman(Tommie Dill), came to a price that I found promising. I asked the usual question,”Can you help me any more?” He went to the sales manager, came
back and told me the sales manager had agreed to ‘Comp’ the Premium HDD nav. system on the car. I had told Mr.

Dill previously in an email, that I was not willing to pay the $2000+ for the Prem.HDD sys. He told
me they couldn’t come down on the price, but they could ‘Comp’ equipment. The offer for the Premium HDD nav. system of course made a better deal and I asked what I needed to do to see if Toyota would build
the car. Mr. Dill had told me earlier, he wasn’t sure if Toyota would build a car with my preferences. Then Mr. Dill asked for a $1000 deposit, which I gave, no mention was made or indicated that the deposit would
    be non-refundable.

After the offer for the Premium HDD nav. system was offered as a ‘Comp’, the deal seemed like a winner. Now the car is on his lot but without the Premium HDD system. After lengthy discussion
with Mr. Dill and a sales manager, I declined to purchase the car because it wasn’t what we agreed on.

  10. I am have tried to get my Scion repaired here under warranty.

I am have tried to get my Scion repaired here under warranty. I have called 6 times got 6 different people at the service center. I have been put on hold and dropped 6 times. These people cant work a phone . I went to the dealership and one of the guys could not help me because ” he had 14 other things to do” whatever that means. I finally got someone to help me and he did not understand the warranty I have thru a second party. This has been a nightmare . I bought a used car ( with low miles ) and it broke down with less than a week of owning it.

  11. Scammer

My 70 year old mother finally decided to trade her Nissan Altima (20 years old with only 109,000 miles). To avoid having her go to multiple dealerships, I researched cars online. I finally found a Toyota Yaris here. I called to verify price and availability, as this place is an hour from our home (and it was listed below market value).

The salesperson told me she would verify it and call me back. She called and told me she had put her eyes on it and that it would be waiting for us. The next morning, we arrived, they took her keys to value her trade and then sent us to an office waiting area – and then left us for half an hour. I began to suspect a scam, and I was right.

The salesperson finally returned to tell us the manager needed to talk to us before we could test drive the car. After another 15 minutes, he came over to tell us that the car had been priced incorrectly by a “third party” and they had a disclaimer that explained they weren’t responsible. I asked for her keys, and they convinced my mother to “let them make it right” by showing her a used car.

  12. I just do not have the good feeling about Serra that I used to!

I write this as for what has happened with my Camry that I have been taking to this dealership for all my service. I had to have the car towed last week for when driving was hearing a God Awful knocking sound. Ended up being a Bunjee Cord Strap was hitting and ended up around wheel wheal and hocked into the tire.

No one ever told me of the damage done to the bumper or the damage I found on the other side of the bumper. I was only told that the bunjee cord punctured tire and was $25.00 to patch. No one said “Also we have found some body damage that you need to look at”.

I came to the dealership for I felt that they caused the damage on the other side, or tell me that the cord could have caused all damage. Just tell me what caused all the damage I had. Ended up looking at Camera of the car arrival and of the repair.

  13. Took the car to the dealership thinking they could change a lightbulb.

Took the car to the dealership thinking they could change a lightbulb. After 5 hours and charging us for being fixed, not only did they not fix the back lightbulb, somehow now both back lights are out. And they can’t attempt to fix it again for 2 days.

  14. Had a terrible experience

Had a terrible experience, was told they would close my loan and pay off my outstanding balance. Said i needed 500 down. Told them i had a payment i was paying that would be 30 days late by the 11 of august. If you pay off my car my the 10 th i could put that payment down instead, was told by the financial mnager handling the loan and the sales men that that would be no problem.

I put the money down. Aug 10th comes my lein holder says no payment received, in order for me to avoid 30 day late fee i have to pay. So now i have to give up another 500 which i didnt have. Then the manager says well the check wasnt sent because u didnt complete your interview with the loan holder.

  15. Poor salesmen.

Steer clear of Serra Toyota. They are liars. Kwame and Ron Brice(Bice) will do nothing but waste your time. I’ve bought two cars when Allen Burns was there with no issues. I guess Kwame and Ron get money for just having people show up. Poor salesmen.
