I must say, as i happened to glance at the reviews in Dr. Castenada’s office – happily my only dentist for at least 15 years, I was shocked to see a negative review – and one that seemed very personal. My response was personal as well; i decided to write a review back.
Thanks to Dr Rebecca, my teeth have been one of the few things in my life I DON’T have to worry about – whether in an emergency, which is how we first met; whether in periodic maintenance; and occasionally, under conditions where I get to see the true artist she is in the realm of cosmetic surgery – and the use of the term art is thoughtfully chosen.
While I am the somewhat atypical male customer, I always walk away with the same sense of perfection, care and bright teeth that her calvacade of other ongoing customers no doubt feel.
And the sense of loyalty and respect that caused me to take the precious time to atypically write such a review. Thank you always, Dr. Rebecca; while is awkward to say this to a dentist, I always look forward to my next visit! Best regards and always, thank you!

Did you see that FAKE REVIEW she posted on Yelp using her own name and photo?
Booked and confirmed appointment. Waited 30 minutes at the reception area while another patient was getting worked on. Nobody said a word to me even though somebody walked by and saw me briefly before disappearing. Huge waste of my time and very unprofessional.
If you are planning to have cosmetic dental work done in San Francisco, you should bear in mind that Dr. Casteneda is the ruthless c-word who hired unsuspecting tree workers to cut down several old, tall trees that were located in a public park, but were blocking her view of the bay from her Marin mcmansion. She has been prosecuted by the Marin DA as well as sued in civil court by the Marin County Board of Supervisors. Is this the kind of person you want to do business with?
I read some of the reviews for Dr. Castaneda and can’t believe how mean spirited they are. Who cares if the office is not “spa perfect”? I was looking for someone who was the best at what they do.
After years of waiting to do a full mouth restoration I chose not to use my regular dentist who was fully competent but I wanted an artist and a specialist.
Dr.Casteneda fulfilled that role. She was personable and caring and did her best to make me comfortable. It was a long and tedious process and I was a little scared but she always managed to calm me down. After long hours in her chair I’m very very happy with my beautiful smile.
Ms Casteneda works very closely with her staff, who also share her high standards for the client’s well being. When I was getting my work done she was training a new assistant. She was firm in making sure that they learned her techniques, but also patient and kind at the same time. I think that they are getting a heck of a great education by working with her. I noticed that the staff treated each other like family.
The cost of her services is high. But I’ve always known that you get what you pay for. The long hours, the discomfort, which was minimal considering the results, and her warm and friendly personality made it much easier to get through what could have been a very painful process.
Amazing work! Just a few words…experience, professionalism, true artistry, if you are looking for amazing dental results here in San Francisco, CA, look no further. It seems to me that Dr, Castaneda looks at each of her patients like a sculptor looking at clay before turning him/her into a work of art. I am a loyal patient of Dr. Castaneda, who has helped transform my life. I was born with only 10 baby teeth. As a child, I had major work done on my teeth, both good and bad. Dr. C has restored my mouth to where, I am able to smile and eat with complete confidence for the first time. This is not an easy feat where most people take this for granted. The fact that Dr. C has changed my life by her caring nature and impeccable talent are the ultimate truth that no one can mare.
I came to know Dr. C after working with her on various projects in her office. After years of working with her, I am convinced of her professional ability as a prostodontist, combined by her artistic mastery that is intuitive at its best. Dr. C has an inherent ability that does not come natural for most dentists (technicians). Believe me, I should know. Dr. C personally designed my dental implants and bridge to optimize every aspects of daily function right down to the aesthetics where it looks and feels natural. I trust her abilities implicitly and would not want anyone else to create my smile makeover.
In majority of cases, the lab that knows nothing about you, is the one who fabricates and dictates what you look like through their cookie cutter system. I’ve been told by numerous dentists, this is the best the dental lab can do for you. That is not a viable nor acceptable option for Dr. C. She is hardest on herself and demands much more for her patients by customizing each smile as her signature piece.

Dr. Castaneda is an artist and a perfectionist. I am SO happy with my smile now. She was a little more expensive than the other cosmetic dentists I consulted with but it was worth it. Everyone on her staff was very kind and helpful. I would recommend Dr. Castaneda to anyone who wants a beautiful, white, natural looking smile.

I have been Dr. Castaneda’s patient for over ten years. It started with my previous dentist telling me that I had too many serious problems with my teeth for him to help me and I needed a specialist to address them. And Dr. Castaneda did just that.
In a series of treatment sessions she reshaped my bite and installed crowns and bridges where they were necessary to save the teeth. Although my goal was medical, not cosmetic, I ended up with teeth looking much better than ever before.
In the follow-ups Dr. Castaneda has been meticulous in foreseeing and detecting any potential problems.
Expert staff and very helpful. I’m an italian student, I’ll be here in San Francisco for some months, so it’s difficult for me to understand everything, but Doctor Castaneda and her staff were very understanding and patient with me and helped me with everything, even to be in contact with a surgery studio to resolve my problem with the wisdom tooth.
So confused by the negative reviews. I went to Rebecca to see about getting some of my front teeth bonded. The consultation was free. I have yet to get the bonding done but I know when I do I will most definitely go back to Rebecca.
However, I did get my teeth whitened. Did they suggest I do this? Yes. That is their job. To make sure your teeth look as good as they can. And mine look absolutely amazing.
I’m giving the reviewer 5 stars b/c of it’s accuracy in stating what a horrible person Castaneda is. A dentist who has been taken to court on a number of occasions is not the dentist I would seek for my dental work.
A four star review means to me that you had a good experience but something could go wrong in the future. I’m happy to report that I have been to see Dr. C, Sonya the hygienist, and Georgette the dental assistant on several occasions and nothing has gone wrong! No aching teeth, stabbed tongue or funny after taste. Everything feels great and I’m happy with the way I was treated.
I have been going to Dr Castaneda for 14 years. Her expertise is unparalleled, she is a true artist; the work she has done for me is nothing short of magical. To be honest, she is pricey but this is SF and she is the best.
Sure you can find less expensive alternatives, but it’s your teeth, it’s your looks. who knows what you’ll get. With Dr Castaneda you will look amazing, she will make sure of it.
Three things I can tell you: 1. I am not a wealthy person. 2. you get what you pay for. 3. In hindsight, after all these years, all the work she’s done on me, all the money I’ve paid: she is worth every penny.
