I have seen Dr. Castaneda for many years now and always feel like I get the most comfortable, professional, beautiful dental work I could imagine. She is kind and attentive, but most of all she has eyes and hands of a sculptor.
When she crafts a tooth, a filling, a bridge , a mouthguard , it is with exquisite attention to detail and the ongoing health of your mouth. Her office is run well and her staff are patient and gentle, like Dr. Castenada. She’s the best.
This dentist is deceitful, writing five star positive reviews on herself on various sites like YELP. On this site 3 out of 7 positive reviews are all named “Adam.” That’s suspect. I also clicked on that link another reviewer mentioned on YELP and saw that fake review Castaneda wrote up on herself giving herself glowing reviews. She should be thoroughly embarrassed and ashamed of herself. She’s the laughing stock of 450 Sutter Street. If she had a successful practice she wouldn’t have to write fake 5 star reviews on herself. Take my advice and find yourself a better dentist.

Rebecca did my dental work many years ago. I know that I am “sensitive” , but she is the most “hardhanded” dentist I have ever had. She simply has zero empathy..
In spite of numerous cards, e-mailings and phone calls I never returned for more dentistry. She got angry when I gagged, would not slow down so that I could catch my breath. I would never recommend her!
Here’s my experience:
1) Most appointments started late. Frequently she was coming in from shopping.
2) One appointment, the dental tech walked out of the office — at the beginning of a procedure
3) The worst dental experience of my adult life — when a mold wouldn’t come out — and she said it was my fault. Due to my mouth, except it had never happened with any other dentist.

it’s a rather bizarre experience being in this office- really unprofessional. staff tries to insist on collecting more than they’re allowed by their contract with my dental insurance, staff speaks badly of another patient to me,
Dr. C speaks badly of a patient to me who is being treated by her assistant 2 stalls down, etc- add in the very obvious ‘it’s all about the $ vibe that permeates all dialogue and…. no thanks.
Expert staff and very helpful. I’m an italian student, I’ll be here in San Francisco for some months, so it’s difficult for me to understand everything, but Doctor Castaneda and her staff were very understanding and patient with me and helped me with everything, even to be in contact with a surgery studio to resolve my problem with the wisdom tooth.
on a positive note (and the reason i went 2 stars and not 1): in her exam she did actually discover a problem that other dentists have missed for the past 20 years (and i’ve since confirmed is a problem)- so i get the feeling that there is a skill level there commensurate with her education.

She did not and refused to cover the costs or help in anyway. And In light of a newly cracked tooth, when I called to request she fix it and talk about the damages, she said I had to pay to come in to see her!! She won’t even talk about the damages she’s caused me without me making an appointment and paying $75. DO NOT GO TO HER!
If there was a 0 star option I would give it. Since getting my implants, 1 has fallen out and I have had 3 chips. Each time, she has charged me for the repairs, even though other doctors have stated they were the result of her faulty work. WORSE YET, when she put the implant in,
she left over 3mm of cement in my gum. The gum got so infected that it actually began rotting the gums around it and the bone. I had to have an additional surgery to fix it and needed a bone transplant for the damaged area.
