PrimeWay Federal Credit Union

The Worst Credit Union

PrimeWay Federal Credit Union is the worst. Their mode de operandi is to hold your check, then get you for overdraft.

I deposited a $128 check drawn on a Bank of America account and they held it for 12 days! 12 days!

Only way to get anything done is to talk to a branch manager according to member services.

Oh, but try finding or getting them to connect you to a branch manager! NEVER.

I am stuck here for the moment because of direct deposit and auto-bill pay and such but don’t mess up like I did.

“DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT HERE!” There are plenty of other Credit Unions that actually care about their members.

There customer service rep actually said “If you would have read the fine print in our mobile banking app acceptance form, it says we can hold the check for a long time.”

Don’t give your money to this place.

  2. The rates are equally good!

The convenience and customer service of this location is something I appreciate when it comes to taking care of my financial needs. Always ready to answer my questions, the employees here are quite the source of information! The rates are equally good!

  3. I love this branch.

I love this branch. They are always so nice and remember my name and even my dogs name when I go through the drive thru. Sugar appreciates it.

  4. Either Primeway is going under, has poor regard for its members, or has become greedy.

I have been a member for a little over 2 years. I have 3 loans with them as well as 2 other accounts. Unfortunately, my family and I had to move out of state to take care of an ailing family member. While I have access to a “Shared Branch”, Primeway now wishes to charge me $5 PER TRANSACTION to utilize a shared branch (Starting Mar 2019).

My spouse works in food services and receives cash tips which cannot be deposited any other way than at a branch. I personally find it pointless and expensive to maintain an account there any longer. I use a credit union because they generally don’t toll as many, if any, fees like the big Wells Fargo, US Bank, and BOA’s do. Either Primeway is going under, has poor regard for its members, or has become greedy.

  5. DO NOT rent from this company!

I have been a memeber of Primeway fora long time. I was actually a amemeber when it was Communicators Federal Credit Union. It use to have a reputation of helping everyone.

It was a great place to get away from the big bank branches and have personalble service. I recently when through a rough time after I lost my job, and thisa credit union is acting like they are bank of america.

I have money in my account, I have not bounce checks, but I do have a few slow pays. I receive more help and assistance in rebuilding my life from Wells Fargo. Honesly I am offened and looking for another credit union that remembers that it is managing my money.

  6. Bad Service Provide

I feel that Primeway stole my money, and while it wasn’t a large amount, it was still MY money. What if someone decided to park $1000 in an account just to collect interest? And got popped for inactivity fees?

I think this business practice is complete BS, and I will be instructing my child to close their account and move their business elsewhere. Heck, I’m even going to pay $$ as an incentive.

  7. that the money would just sit there and collect some minimal interest.

I opened a PFCU account because it was a requirement in order for my under-18 year old to have one. They had to be connected. You had to open the savings and checking each with a minimum of $25. I used the checking a few times, and left the savings alone. Since my child is now over 18, I went to close my accounts.

ZERO BALANCE in both accounts, and I was told that I closed it on June 30, 2013! I didn’t close it, clearly because June 30 was a Sunday. Turns out, they charge you $10 a month for inactivity, which no one informed me of when I opened the account. And I asked if there were any fees when we set up the accounts. TEN DOLLARS A MONTH?? For an account that they don’t have to do anything with? Seriously??

I was given the statement that it’s now part of their policy and they send out fee schedules once a year in December. Well, by that time, my account had already been bled dry. I didn’t look at statements because I knew I wasn’t using the accounts and I assumed, wrongly, that the money would just sit there and collect some minimal interest.

  8. Never Again

Watch out , they are trying to charge your account even after your loan is paid off. When you call to ask them why they are still making charges to your bank account for a paid off loan account. The answer is – you open this auto pay account to pay your loan so you have to close it online.

  9. Scammer

When I contacted customer service I was told that was NOT my checking account number and there was nothing they could do about the fees I was charged if it wasn’t a banking error even though they provided me with the wrong information. How are you supposed to pay bills if you are not given the correct information?!

I am waiting for the branch manager to return from vacation to allow them the opportunity to rectify this before I start filing complaints and posting my experience everywhere and sincerely hope that the “member services” rep I spoke with does not represent the bank’s position when they cause their customers to lose money because of their errors.

So far my experience on one short month has been terrible! I’d rather deal with a big bank again at this point.

  10. service is terrible!

We hold an account with an out of state credit union and really wanted a local option. I wish I had read these reviews before signing up. Their banking technology is superior to others in my opinion and I really like the user interface for the internet and app however, service is terrible!

I opened account a little over a month ago and 90% of the payments I scheduled though my vendors for recurring payments have been returned. I finally discovered after hundreds of dollars in late fees and returned payment fees on our accounts that the problem was due to the fact that I was provided the incorrect checking account number which was written on a card I was provided when I opened the account.

I see someone else had the same issue where they were told their account number was their member number plus “000” and one final digit.

  14. I am just about to close my account and be done with them.

I have been banking with this credit union since 1995. Every time I request a loan or anything beneficial to me I get denied. My recent inquiry was to try and get a line of credit for a home remodel. It was explained to me I was denied due to one late payment that was over 2 years old. My credit score is in the high 600’s and I have sufficient income. I am just about to close my account and be done with them.

  15. this location does not treat people of color with no type of respect.

this location does not treat people of color with no type of respect. they lie to you straight in your face. i am not working right now, so i am planning on protesting in front of this location. this credit union should know that black people have money now a days just like the white people and should get treated the same.
