Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM

Service here was terrible.

I made an appointment at the Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of this week to come see a specific car. They called me no less than 5 times throughout the week checking in and confirming my appointment; they said the car would be pulled up and ready for me along with similar vehicles.

So far, so good, although I thought the amount of calls was a little excessive.

I get there on time for my appointment. I wait and it turns out the salesman I have the appointment with isn’t available so I get another guy, Brandon.

I’m taken into an office, asked some questions, and then he goes to get the keys. 10 minutes later he comes back and says it’s out on a test drive.

Why is the car I have an appointment to see at that very moment on a test drive? It’s now 5:30.

Brandon disappears and says he will wait for it to be back. He never returns.

Meanwhile the door is open and I’m sitting there staring at the wall so I finally go outside with my boyfriend and his dad, who have since shown up to be with me, and look at cars with them.

Despite Brandon having my number, he never calls/texts me to find out where I went in order to update me on the test drive situation.

Turns out the guest who had it on a test drive was hemming and hawing over whether to buy it; I know this because we came across him at the front of the dealership.

I eventually found Brandon outside around 30 minutes later and he says the guest is now inside “talking numbers” and “in the next few minutes” he should know whether they were buying or not and whether I could have my test drive.

We also wanted to test drive a truck for my boyfriend who is in the market for a vehicle, and told Brandon to call or text me as soon as he knew because we were test driving something else, which he agreed to do.

Needless to say, Brandon never contacted me. When we got back from test driving the truck with another salesman, Ben (who is great by the way).

I talked to an employee and turns out the man bought the car I was set to test drive, essentially buying the car out from under me.

Brandon never let me know anything and never offered to show me other vehicles– though Ben, the guy who we test drove the truck with, did take the time to show me other cars they had online.

I never got any type of apology or notice on what happened, such as a simple “sorry but the car has sold.”

I only found out through some other random salesman I was able to grab who went in and found out for me.

No one reached out to me about my appointment, and apparently Brandon thinks I vaporized into thin air and ceased to exist after the car was sold to someone else.

Additionally, when I was shown similar cars online at their dealership.

I felt pressured and when I told them my max budget, they continued to show me cars over $2000 above my budget, going on about how I can just finance for more months or make bigger payments each month (yeah right! Exactly what I’m trying to avoid).

I especially enjoyed how a manager tried to explain how interest works to me like I’m stupid.

The thing is, I understand interest perfectly fine– that’s exactly why I’m trying to avoid paying more of it.

I insisted on my max budget for an hour and a half while they refused to come down on the price at all and kept “going to talk to the manager” about the price I wanted and coming back with the same original number.

Mind you it is the end of the month.

If they can’t meet the price I want, that’s perfectly fine, but I wish they would just say that up front and save all of our time.

I should’ve just left when they sold the first car out from under me, which was downright rude.

Bottom line: I was prepared to purchase a car today, but their subpar service has ensured that I will be making that purchase elsewhere.

Update on 5/7 to say that a new salesman called me and asked if I’m still in the market, then proceeded to tell me that my file notes that.

I am underage and thus could not buy a vehicle– was there anyone who could sign for me– and that it said I never showed up for my appointment.

What? I corrected him that I’m well over 18 years old (no one could mistake me for being underage) and that I did in fact come to my appointment and told him what happened there.

In my opinion, sounds like someone was trying to cover their butt after the fact so that if I complained it would seem unfounded.

I told the salesman I had bad service and he offered to send me the general manager’s info.

I didn’t think this crappy service situation could get any worse but it just did.

Save your time and buy a car somewhere else where you can actually enjoy the process without being ignored and insulted.

  1. I have emailed Joel Smith the GM and have gotten no response.

I call the service dept and I was put on hold for 5 minutes before someone just hung up the phone.

Then I call for the general but got his assistant who assured me that the sales manager would take care of me as soon as he came in. He wasn’t even scheduled that day.

Aug. 8th I pick up my car from having new windows installed. Clip from door panel was sitting in my cup holder. Rear window had the defroster unplugged and the glass was aftermarket glass. I expected OEM glass, that is what they ruined that is what I should get put on my car.

  2. Had such a great experience at this dealership.

Had such a great experience at this dealership. Nick was amazing and very helpful every step of the way. Will definitely recommend to a friend!

  3. Never Again

A deal was trying to be made to piggy back a deal on my husband’s car from Chevy, and the bank only said 1 car, 1 loan, and they were trying to weasel it in, and not telling us any of this other than “you are approved for $xx amount!”

Such a waste of time, and my sanity and my kids. Frustrating experience non-the-less, but hopeful my mistake will help another avoid it!

  5. Service Dept is TERRIBLE!

Service Dept is TERRIBLE! Went to get a small adjustment 2 days after buying a new Dodge. They said it was normal to have that problem, no fix. It got worse. Even dangerous.

  6. I will NOT be buying a car of any kind from Hendrick!!!

It was our FIRST and LAST time dealing with them and it was not a great experience… I know lots of people in the line of work I am in and well make sure to tell them the experience I had dealing with Hendricks!!!! And steer then in a different direction away from Hendricks when buying a car…… they are CRAP!!!!

  7. I will definitely never return.

This was our ONLY complaint from the start and to now find out these tires were in terrible shape leaves me extremely upset that your dealership would even let someone leave with that being a safety issue.

NOW we are spending $740 on all new tires when this expense could have been included in our deal at the dealership and just affected our monthly payment which we were COMPLETELY okay with. I will NEVER recommend anyone here, and I will definitely never return.

  8. When I asked him for a tracking number he stalled.

Piazza only sent one set of paperwork and promised to overnight the paperwork the next day. It took eight days for us to receive our paperwork which caused a delay in our abilities to go forward with our company needs. Every time we called, he lied and said that the paperwork had been sent. When I asked him for a tracking number he stalled.

  9. EVER, they are rude and don't have it together at all...

  10. non existent and they really don't care about changing is my opinion

I have purchased two used trucks and 1 new Jeep from Hendricks in Hoover since Nov. 2014. The sales side is fine but had to deal with the service side twice. Both times were the worst experiences that I have ever had in the automotive business.

I made it clear to them after the last time that I would do my best to warn the public to stay away. The service is terrible, non existent and they really don’t care about changing is my opinion

  11. never again doing business here.

world’s worst service department. people were rude and I had to call 13 times for someone to answer finally 15 minutes before they were going to close to find out my car was done 2 hours prior and no one called me to let me know it was done. they had my car for 2 days for a 45 minute fix. so now I am carless for another day because I can’t make it there by 6pm… never again doing business here.

  12. I wish I would have waited.

Can you give less than 1 star ? I felt like I was pushed into purchasing an oil change service package when I got the car . The main issue with that is their service department is awful. The people that work there are rude and not helpful, and it should not take 2 1/2 hours to get an oil change.
It took me over 30 minutes to get anyone to even acknowledge that I needed assistance.

This was my first and very last purchase of a new car at Hendrick. Once I get the 4 oil changes that I paid for I will take my car to Benchmark for service. I have always had wonderful experience with them, the only reason I did not purchase from them is that they would have had to order the car I wanted and I did not want to wait. I wish I would have waited.

  13. The bottom line is DO NOT purchase a vehicle fro these people.

I recently purchased a Jeep Wrangler from Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep. But I can honestly say I regret it. If you enjoy dealing with slick car salesman, this is the place. But they seem to develop amnesia once the sale has been made. I’ve never written a review on anything and this will hopefully be my last one. The bottom line is DO NOT purchase a vehicle fro these people.

I could list several details and include names but I’m not. I wish I had just gone with a Chevrolet Tahoe from another dealer so I wouldn’t have had to spend more $$ to make the Jeep look normal even though it was brand new model.

  14. We received very poor service at this dealership.

We received very poor service at this dealership. Charles Piazza, the commercial manager was rude and unprofessional from the start. He hung up on me during the first call. When he called back, he told me I would have to speak louder if I wanted his help. He exchanged no pleasantries whatsoever, and was rude and curt during the entire call.

It almost felt like he did not want us to buy the truck. The finance manager was not much better. He talked to my business partner and me in a very condescending tone and manner. The only reason I went forward with the purchase is because they had the exact truck we needed for business and we needed it right away.

  15. I should have towed it to a mom and pop shop that would at least act like they care.

My jeep stopped running Friday morning – I had it towed to the dealership because there is a recall on it. The dealership got back to me (Jimmy) on 09/21/18 to tell me the oil cooler was broken and my engine was rattling – the bottom.

I asked how they determined this and how that part fails. I was told they weren’t sure. They quoted me $6500 plus labor to put a new engine in $5500 plus labor for a used engine.

I asked them to please look at it and determine how it failed – as I was hit in a hit and run (Jeep was parked and in first with ebrake) a month prior and was it damaged and just missed because I’m not leaking oil/have no oil spots in the driveway or where I park at work.
