On August 18 I booked a flight from Tel Aviv to Eilat with Arkia airlines through Gotogate (booking number NATC52). As I arrived to the check-in counter in the airport, I was that there is no reservation under my name (i.e. I do not have a ticket). I immediately called Gotogate’s customer service, and was told that is seems as if my reservation was confirmed by the airline and that there should not be any problem. This was obviously not true, so I had to argue and the representative told me he was “checking with his team” and then left me waiting on hold for more than 20 minutes. Finally, he suggested me to buy a new ticket in order to not miss the flight (which is what I did), and said again that he should “check with his team” whether or not I should get a refund and that they will contact me.

A week has passed and nothing has happened. When I tried to find an email to complain to in Gotogate’s website, I was shocked to discover that the only way presented there to complain is by sending a handfilled(!) form to a post(!) address in Sweden(!) or to call them (which means an expensive international call in addition to a big waste of time waiting on hold as I already experienced).

I was then told that the relevant team is checking the case and later informed, on August 29, that the airline agreed for a refund and that it will be proceeded within 2-4 weeks (which is, by any standard, a ridiculously long period of time to give me back only 60 dollars).

On September 27, after complaining to them again, I was surprisingly informed that “We have raised a refund application to the airline that issued your tickets and awaiting response from them” (but according to the email from August 29 the airline has already agreed for the refund).

Although this seems like a long text, it is actually just a summary of my “adventures” with their customer service, they even asked me to contact the airline myself(!!!!) in order to get a proof I did not appear on the passengers list for the flight, and I did so (the airline’s representative told me herself that this is an odd request to ask from a customer).

Today is October 15, and I have not gotten back my money yet. It is not the case that I payed for something and got something a little different in return. It is also not the case I payed for something and just got bad customer service. The case is that I payed for something and got absloultly n-o-t-h-i-n-g in return, my money was actually stolen. From my experience, I feel that Gotogate is a website that is meant to scam people and hope they will forget about the money if enough time has passed. Their responses contradict one another and sound as if they are made up in order to make the customer feel someone is handling his problem.

    be extremely careful run by a bunch of idiots !!!

    takes them ages to understand what u want , got a full refund from the airline as they cancelled the flight fott 67 euors , they said that their handling charges was 62 euros !

    i have proof from the airline that they credited the gotogate credit card with the full value

    stay clear of them !!!

    It was a very disappointing and pathetic experience today with GotoGate.com. This very bad experience today with GotoGate.com has taught me a good lesson to not to do any online bookings or online shopping.

    I was browsing through various travel booking portals to make a booking for travel (2 passengers) from London to Melbourne and return. I chose a particular itinerary (reaching London at 7-30AM on 28th Apr) and deal (AUD 2602.15) on the travel portal and when I clock View the Deal, the portal re-directed me to Gotogate.com for further processing and payment.

    Entered all the required details on the GotoGate.com website and finally on the payment page, after entering all the credit card details – the payment was not successful. Tried 6 times repeatedly and the payment was successful only in the 6th attempt. I have verified all the details in every single attempt to make sure it is showing correct details before hitting the Payment button.

    Here comes the surprise, after the payment was processed in the 6th attempt – to my big surprise and utter disappointment, I see the travel itinerary has changed (… now reaching London Heathrow at 12-50PM as against the 7-30AM arrival that I had chosen) and also the payment processed is much higher (… which is AUD 2748.27). No where did the portal threw an alert before accepting the payment, if it was changing the itinerary OR payment, for my acceptance. This was very, very utterly disappointing travel booking experience.

    At the end the price this portal has charged me is much more than what it offered as a deal, and this was charged to me without my acceptance. I had better deals than this price from SkyScanner and other local travel agency and I now regret not choosing those options and falling for the trap of GotoGate.com

    I therefore immediately tried to contact the customer service center on the contact number provided on the portal. The customer service agent showed no minimum courteousness, courtesy that one would give to a customer if customers are valued. The tone with which the agent spoke was not polite, non-courteous and lacked empathy. The basic addressing of the customer as Mr XXX was not there.

    Will never ever do travel bookings online. Its better to get it done through travel agencies by paying them few extra bucks and get a proper customer service when there is a system fault such as this – which leaves customer at a disadvantage.

    As a remedial action, I would appreciate if GotoGate,com resolves my concern and address the issue i.e., provide me the itinerary that I chose for a deal and at the price (AUD 2610.15) it was offered before the payment was processed.

  4. No response of refund

    We bought the round trip flight tickets for five people from Hong Kong to Casablanca with Gotogate on 22 Dec., 2018. We will set off received an email from Gotogate dated 12 May 2019 saying that “there is flights changes, if the new schedule is not suitable for you a full refund of the ticket is also possible (less credit card or internet bank fee).” We were informed to reply to their email within two days. Therefore I made the request to cancel the booking on 13 May 2019.

    Since we got no reply, I sent the email to ask for them but in vain. I called the customer service twice, their staff told me they would transfer my call to another person, then my phone got cut off.

    Then we received their another email saying that my original flights are again operating with the minor time change. But we have purchased the round trip flight tickets with other airline. We will set off on 15 June 2019. We sent them emails many times. They ignored my messages. Up till now we haven’t yet received their response. We can’t get our refund.
