Telcoe Federal Credit Union
Personal loanI’ve been a member of Telcoe Federal Credit Union for years but I’ve never used it for anything but a small savings account.
I had a credit card with credit card style interest and I thought I would give Telcoe a try and see if we could get the interest down.
I applied for a personal loan from them to pay off the card. Here’s how it went down. (Tuesday)
Them: We can loan $X for every year you have been at your job.
Me: Great, I’ve been there X number of years.
Them: Please fill out this application.
Me: Done! How long will it take?
Them: We should get an answer this afternoon or tomorrow and have the money in your account Wednesday. Thursday at the latest. We will call you and let you know.

(Friday)
I call them.
Me: Hello, I’m calling to check on the status of my application.
Them: It is being reviewed and we will call you when it is done.
Listen, when you do business over the phone, your tone means everything.
From this woman’s tone and attitude she might as well just told me to F’ Off and she would get around to my application when she was damn good and ready.
I was shocked at the rudeness.

(Tuesday)
I call again.
Me: I’m calling to check on the status of my loan application.
Them: My computer messed up. I will have to restart it and call you back.
(Two hours later)
They call back.
Them: We need a small bit on information from you.
Me: Why did it take a week and multiple phone calls before you asked for this information?
Them: Uh, I don’t know. I’ll see where we stand and call you back.
Ten minutes later I got a notification from Credit Karma telling me that someone had ran a credit check. AN ENTIRE WEEK AND THEY JUST NOW CHECKED MY CREDIT!!!
(An hour later)
They call back.
Them: The underwriters agreed on the loan but they insist that you cancel the credit card after you pay it off.
Me: No
Them: Uh, OK. Where would you like us to send the check?
I hope these people never play poker because they can’t bluff for squat.
Once that loan is paid, they have lost a customer.
