Dr. Scott Silverstein

Dr. Scott is a nightmare. Stay away from him

After looking online and asking few of my friends, Dr. Scott Silverstein seemed to be the nearest option from my place and a good one too.

That is what the reviews from few known people explained to me.

I looked every where to find more options and doing a research for two days, I decided to meet Dr. Scott for getting things right with my knee pain.

I straight away went to the clinic to schedule an appointment with him.

However, I was very disappointed to know that the appointments were all packed up for the next 45 days.

I asked if I could meet him for few minutes consultation looking at my condition.

He could have suggested a pain killer or something until before deciding the surgery date.

However, the receptionist did not give any damn about my condition.

I was desperate and decided to wait for next 45 days as I have been waiting for few months now.

On the date of the appointment, I reached 10 minutes earlier.

There were other patients waiting for doctor who were also waiting for more than 2-3 months.

Apart from the scheduled time, the doctor reached 2-3 hours late and straight away went inside his office.

He did not mention anything about the delay and seemed arrogant.

The patients were given way to reach out to him and my number soon arrived.

He was not taking more than 5-10 minutes to talk to each patient.

When I entered the office, I asked for a reason for such a delay and I was very polite.

He answered if I did not like waiting, I should have left.

The answer shocked me. The question was just due to curiosity.

However, I ignored the same. I was in pain and needed quick relief.

He wrote down some medication and asked me to arrive after 15 days for the surgery. I asked if it would be painful or after surgery tips.

As usual, he said it would be fine. He did not provide much information.

On the date of surgery, he was again late.

In between, whenever, I had any questions, I was never connected to the doctor.

Instead, I had to call the reception for updates on dosage and medicine change.

Before surgery, I asked him if it was painful and he said it wont be.

I had heard other patients screaming and was scared. The pain was huge.

He did not use any anesthesia. I was in immense pain.

I even knocked out for few hours because of the pain. According to him, I had knee effusion.

This means that my knee were inflamed. T

he entire surgery was unsuccessful. After bearing so much pain, I had no relief.

I have never met such an arrogant and irresponsible doctor in my entire life.

This person is a monster.

Doctors are polite and empathetic.

But, this doctor is full of crap.

  1. I will not return.

Disinterested, rude and uncaring support staff. Poor electronic and traditional phone systems. Doctors do not follow each other directions and office staff needs to be consistently externally managed by the patient. I will not return.

  2. I will need a hip replacement

I am still trying to sort out my care, but realize that I must do my own research regarding my injury and treatment to verify the diagnosis and treatment. I will need a hip replacement,

but plan to get a second opinion and may choose a different practice for the next phase of treatment. I no longer have the same confidence that my health and well-being are their top priority.

  3. I used to be very impressed and thrilled with the level of care received.

I have been a patient at this practice for 15 years. I used to be very impressed and thrilled with the level of care received. I has several surgeries for different injuries from the same surgeon. In the past 3-4 years, my experiences have not been very satisfying. The practice has lost its focus on patient care and are more like an assembly line.

I was referred by a surgeon to a back specialist in the same practice for a hip/hamstring problem. After several months of regular visits to the back specialist, I found that he and my surgeon had never conferred even once on on my case. Not even an email and both are in the same practice.

  4. I recommend him without reservation.

My wife and I have depended upon the staff at Orthopedic Associates of Central Maryland for many of our needs, and always find the doctors and other staff members to be outstanding.

Having recently had two knee replacement done by Dr. Silverstein, I must say the surgeries, and the follow-on PT, were nothing short of outstanding. Dr. Silverstein has a process and associated hospital staff that are incredibly good, and I recommend him without reservation.

  6. No longer is the patient important.

My husband and I have been patients for 13 years and after the circus I had to deal with regarding my knee replacement surgery, I will never go back to OACM. OACM does assembly line joint replacement surgery. No longer is the patient important. The only thing that matters is the $$. Once the doctor does the surgery, you are on your own.

The administrative staff including the doctor’s secretary are rude and snotty and they screwed up my disability so I could not get paid. In addition, follow up appointments were cancelled several times during post op. This group used to be good, but no more.

  7. It's a he said - she said and of course I have to pay or risk my credit being affected.

This is a review of the Physical Therapy associated with this office in Columbia, Md. While the PT was good a year after the sessions they are now billing me for five copays that I paid in cash but have no receipts for. It’s a he said – she said and of course I have to pay or risk my credit being affected.

  8. Do not waste your time going to this practice!

Do not waste your time going to this practice! They do not follow through with any care promised and are all about charging a high price for not completely providing necessary care. The staff were rude and either don’t pass along messages or else the doctors just don’t care to respond .. either way, it is poor practice!

  9. Disinterested, rude and uncaring support staff.

  10. Worst Experience Ever.

Very insulted by my experience there. Have been seeing different doctors and have had no success. Last doctor seen accused me of being a drug addict and would not listen to what I was saying. Very rude. Would not recommend this practice.

Been in extreme pain and wanted answers. Got prescribed a medication that take 5-7 days to reach therapeutic level, so I am still in extreme pain.
Only good thing that came from this was an MRI appointment. I will be taking the results to another practice.

  11. Not even a minute into my explanation he cut me off and told me it all sounded normal and that I should start physical therapy.

I’ve had chronic neck/back pain for over 6 years, so I was very excited to finally see a specialist about it. When Dr. Blam first walked in the room he had me describe the issues I’ve been having. Not even a minute into my explanation he cut me off and told me it all sounded normal and that I should start physical therapy.

To have a specialist barely listen to you while describing something that has caused you so much pain over the years, and then to just have him say it sounds normal, I was extremely upset. I was really hoping he would be able to give me some answers but it just seemed like he wanted to get my appointment over with.

  12. Horrible experience.

Horrible experience. It seems they probably double and triple book appointments with no concern about their patients schedules or time. Twice, I have walked out before being seen because of the long wait.
The first time was a PM appointment, so while I left, I assumed they were running VERY behind due to the time of day. However,

I returned with an early AM appointment and what was supposed to be the first patient appointment. I sat in the waiting area for 40 minutes before being called back and when I asked how much longer, was told there were two patients ahead of me. So, if I was supposed to be the first, and was not only on time, but early, then how could there be two patients ahead of me unless they double/triple booked? Stay away from this place!

  13. Horribly rude staff.

Horribly rude staff. No Dr. Communication on pain meds for an elderly patient. Left her in pain without med relief.

  14. Bad Service.

My two daughters and I are all patients of OA (with three different doctors). While the doctors and technicians are kind and knowledgeable, and our actual care has been excellent, the FRONT DESK STAFF IS USELESS. They do NOT return phone calls. I have been trying for TWO SOLID MONTHS to get a replacement set of orthotics for my daughter.

    L. has been frequently out sick, and doesn’t call when she gets in. E. is polite, but clueless, referring everything to L, who never returns calls. When you call – regardless of the time of day – you get shunted to the answering service. There you have to repeat everything: name, child’s name, dob, phone numbers, reason you’re calling – multiple times, and have it read back to you FOUR TIMES for accuracy.

  15. Scammer

This morning, at ~7am I received a text message from Orthopaedic Associates telling me I had an appointment at the Columbia office TODAY at 6:46pm. No indication of which of the three of my family members the supposed appointment was for. The Columbia office closes at 4:30pm.

Plus, 6:46pm is a BIZARRE time for an appointment. Moreover: our family has NO appointments scheduled whatsoever. I left two frantic voice mails on the cancellation line, at 7:20am and again at ~9:15am. The recording warns that there is a 24 hour cancellation policy, or one’s account will be charged. Thankfully, at 9:35am, and again at 9:40am, I received two different call backs from the office.

Both appointment agents verified that the 6:46pm “appointment” was visible, but that it had been cancelled. They were both mystified. Their office is closed at that (weird) time. WHEW. Now all I have to do is monitor my account bill to ensure I’m not charged, since this whole fiasco happened within the 24 hour cancellation limit.
