Dr. Chu Paul Tiat Fat
WTF Experience Going HereI just had the most WTF experience going here. I picked Dr. Chu Paul Tiat Fat out of a list of doctors who took my insurance, because it was the closest to me.
I called and made an appointment for the same day, which I was pretty excited about since I feel terrible.
The girl on the phone told me to bring $70 cash “just in case”. I should have noticed that as a red flag.
I walk over there and it’s in a little plaza of stores that sell little Hello Kitty trinkets, boba tea, a pharmacy, and a medical supply store.
It was hard to find, and the elevator button for the floor he’s on was broken, so I had to go to another floor and take the stairs.
I found the office, and the door was locked. I was 15 minutes early for my appointment, and noticed they are out to lunch until the exact time my appointment was supposed to be.
I waited in the hallway until someone came and unlocked the door.
I was let in and sat down to do some paperwork, they took my insurance and ID, seemed pretty normal.
I noticed that they had a big CASH ONLY sign which I thought was pretty strange.
After a short wait the nurse/receptionist(?) led me to the scale and ruler.
I asked if I should take off my shoes since they added a few inches to my height and pointed that out, and she said no. Ok…
She then led me to a room full of medical records and a big desk.
I waited while she filed folders around me. She informed me that they didn’t give prescriptions on the first visit.
Eventually Dr. Chu came in and asked me some basic questions, took my blood pressure, listened to my heart, etc.
After a bit he led me to a room that looked more like a medical office rather than someone’s personal office.
He checked my ears, looked in my mouth for about half a second before declaring that I had a throat infection.
I didn’t know whether to be impressed that he could see that so quickly or worried that he didn’t really look.
He wrote me a few prescriptions and asked if I was single or married.
Then he asked when my last LMP was. I repeated “LMP?” and he said yes. I asked what that meant.
He said “when you last bleed from vagina?” Errrr … don’t know what that has to do with a throat infection, but I answered the crudely phrased question.
I thanked him and went on my way with my prescription.
I went downstairs to the aforementioned pharmacy (Wellman’s Pharmacy), they were very nice and filled my prescriptions quickly.
It wasn’t until I got home that I realized the cough medicine they gave me was OPEN and leaked all over the other medications.
I wish I had looked him up on here before going … I do not recommend this place at all!
