Insurance agent; Cindy Couyoumjian, License # 0719038 sold a Prudential Defined Income Variable annuity to client, Ms. G. on 1-22-2019, purchase payment of $300,000. The sale of a variable annuity to an 81-year-old retiree with a modest net worth was unsuitable.

Client repeatedly stated that she wanted an investment that would preserve her principal of $300,000. Client did not understand the complexity of a variable annuity, nor understand that she was taking the investment risk, since the money was being invested in the stock market. Client does not understand the tax consequences of a variable annuity. This financial product offers an advisor high commission for 7 years. The first two years the commission is 7%. The next two years the commission is 6%, and the final three years the commission is 5%.

Couyoumjian sold client an individual stock (CION Corp) for approximately $16,500, that Couyoumjian ultimately sold two years later, at a $6,000 loss.

Couyoumjian sold client a non-traded REIT (real estate investment trust) for $50,000, at $23.19/share.  This type of investment is not traded on a public exchange (NYSE or NASDAQ). This type of investment has high risk and us unsuitable for most investors. This investment is illiquid. Meaning you cannot sell it when you want. This investment has lost value. In 2020, a company offered to buy these shares for $5.00/share.
