Dr. Joanne Hom
I Was Always FrustratedI was a patient of Dr. Joanne Hom’s for nearly 20 years. All three of my kids were delivered by her practice, but not all three by her.
As others have mentioned in their reviews, I was always frustrated by her lack of time to spend answering questions.
You waited forever to see her and she’d spend 2 minutes with you and I left always feeling rushed.
Her pleasant chatter always struck me as disingenuous. My sister saw Dr. Greene in her practice and had a much more thorough exam every year and I always wondered why.
Last year, I had a suspicious mammogram (ordered by Dr. Hom), which turned out to be cancer.
Dr. Hom did not call me for a WEEK after the results were available. I was on the phone to the lab daily until the pathology was completed.
I did not hear from Dr. Hom for a week after that.
Yeah, I knew the results because of my own efforts, but is she really that busy and uncaring that she can’t call one of her patients to communicate the most devastating news of their life? A patient of 20 years? Really? That’s the best she can do? Needless to say, I was livid when she finally called.
I wasn’t rude, kept it together, but was boiling inside. She offered to refer me to her list of surgeons, but because I was already a week ahead of her, I had already set up several appointments.
What’s more is after my cancer diagnosis, I never received my “it’s time for your annual exam” card.
I guess now that I have cancer, I don’t fit the profile of a patient she’d like to have.
There are many other doctors out there who are better at their craft than Dr. Hom and who have a much better bedside manner.
Doctors who actually care about healing people and less about how much money you’re making them.
I’d encourage you to seek them out. You’ll be a lot happier in the long run.
