Even before the Federal prosecutors announced on Thursday about the filing of additional charges against Lev Parnas, Rudy Giuliani was already facing troubles with finance-related charges against him. The connection of Lev Parnas is all the way to the President of the United States of American. Lev was a one time associate of Rudy Giuliani, who is Donald Trump’s lawyer.
If prosecutors are believed, Lev with David Correia conspired for defrauding investors in an insurance scheme. A fresh campaign finance violation is also included in superseding indictment.
Understanding of Audrey Strauss’s statement tells us how David was one of the three co-defendants charged in an indictment issued in 2019. Strauss is the acting chief federal prosecutor in Manhattan currently. The indictment issued by the prosecutor’s office charged with David and Parnas for conspiring to commit wire fraud in connection with their efforts to raise funds for a business both of them called “Fraud Guarantee.”
Correia and Parnas, according to the prosecutors, setup Fraud Guarantee in the year 2012. The pitching of this company was to potential investors as an entity for protecting them from frauds.
A statement from Strauss says,” Lev Parnas and David Correia conspired in fraud using a company called ‘Fraud Guarantee’ that purported to ensure investors against corporate fraud while in fact, as alleged, they misled investors as to what would be done with their money. ‘Fraud Guarantee’ takes on a different meaning in light of today’s allegations that the company was a vehicle for committing fraud, not insuring against it.”
The lawyer defending Parnas, Joseph brandy said,” Lev Parnas has been on strict home confinement for nearly one year, waiting for this superseding indictment, which contains no surprises. We are pleased that the matter can now move forward, for both Mr. Parnas and the public interest.”
The new indictment charges Igor Fruman for being an associate to Parnas and Guiliani for soliciting a foreign national for making donations and contributions. Apart from this, it also charges Parnas and Andrey Kukushin for aiding and abetting a foreign nation to contribute to the United States’ federal and state elections. The lawyers of Fruman and Kukushin were not keen to comment on the matter.
