If you are in the market for a mortgage, I highly suggest that you look anywhere other than this joke of a Waterstone Mortgage.
I originally went with Jasmine and her team because I was warned against using the major banks and liked the idea of working with someone local.
This was a huge mistake. The level of incompetence that this “team” displayed while working on my mortgage is inexcusable.
Everything started out great, I was pre-approved, gathered all documents, and was on track for a smooth closing – the only complaint I have was that I had to explain the difference between a fiscal year and calendar year when they argued that my documents didn’t match up.
I guess that has to do with the lack of intelligence this team has, though.
The real horror story started less than 24 hours before my scheduled closing.
I received a call from the lady that deals directly with the underwriter.
She disgustingly started the call off in a friendly manner saying, “it’s your favorite person… sorry, but I’ve got to move your closing because we need more documents.”
I can’t wrap my mind around why she thought it was okay to wait until the last moment to tell me that, when I was the one that followed up to make sure everything was still okay after receiving my CD.
She does not know how to do her job, nor does she know how to speak to customers and give them bad news.
I provided the requested documents within an hour of speaking to her and didn’t even receive a response until after 5 pm saying she would still have to delay the closing.
She requested that my agent request a unilateral extension – and, she did.
The seller’s agent called Jasmine and her Team to inquire about the what was happening.
This company told them that it was delayed because I was late on getting requested documents – which voids my ability to get a unilateral extension.
Jasmine and her team blamed me for their mistakes.
To just get past the mistakes and prevent delaying the closing, I offered to come up with a larger down payment to avoid this.
They declined saying it isn’t necessary, it’s just going to take 2 more days and closing will go as planned. That proved they truly were incompetent.
I wasted the entire day before the rescheduled closing providing more documents, waiting, and discussing other options on the phone.
Finally, I was told that the original terms weren’t going to happen and I had to come up with another 50k to make it possible to close.
At this point, I was more than upset and it was almost comical how insane this team is.
I literally offered to do this to prevent delaying closing and they said it wouldn’t be necessary.
Apparently it was necessary. Thankfully, I was barely able to scrape together these funds in less than 24 hours before closing.
If I hadn’t, I would have lost my earnest money because of Jasmine and her team lying to the sellers about the delay being my fault.
All of these stressful errors could have been prevented if this team had done their jobs correctly.
They waited until the last possible moment to do everything.
If you want a stress free mortgage process, look elsewhere – The Jasmine Team is a joke.
It’s scary that this operation is licensed, because it is more than clear that they have no clue what they are doing.
STAY FAR AWAY.
