University Family Physicians

A Complete Rip Off

On last Friday, I visited for my annual exam, and while there addressed a sinus infection that I’ve had.

I specifically asked the doctor for a Z-pack because I’ve had good results with using University Family Physicians before.

Instead she suggested and wrote a prescription for an antibiotic.

She also suggested 2 nasal pumps, both of which I’ve tried before and did not work, so I advised her of that as well.

It’s now been 7 days (of a 10 day prescription) and my symptoms haven’t gotten any better.

After day 4 I called the office leaving a voicemail on the nurse line, the call was never returned.

On days 5 & 6 I left messages with the appointment desk, still no return call.

As a last resort, I sent a message through MyChart and was advised that I would need to make a new appointment, either through the regular process or visit them in Urgent Care (a way to bill me another copay and get more money for something that should have been treated the first time).

I finally received a call back on the 7th day, and a return message.

After going back and forth, they still stood firm that I’d have to make a new appointment to be seen, they would not call in a prescription for me.

A complete rip off. I should not be penalized and have to pay twice because of their failure to listen.

I will not return to this office and before I pay them another dime, I will find a new doctor!

  1. I don't think it's that hard to book appointments.

You might as well schedule your medical appointments somewhere else since they don’t keep them here.

Go somewhere that actually sees you when the schedule you for routine care rather than telling you they need you to come back later since the physicians are busy/unavailable.

Their receptionists need to be replaced. I don’t think it’s that hard to book appointments.

  2. Scammer

I typically do not leave poor reviews, even when justified, but when I feel as if I’m being cheated, I’m compelled to do so. I specifically asked the doctor for a Z-pack because I’ve had good results with using them before.

  3. I will find a new doctor!

  4. I will no longer use this practice.

I will no longer use this practice. What a run around. My doctor wasn’t available (happened many times before) so I saw another. After a week of steroids, two strep tests (although I was told they would also do a test for mononucleosis but did not,) a week of a codeine cough medicine at bedtime, and pills to stop coughing–After all this, the doctor I saw messaged me that I would need to get a referral from my regular doctor.

  5. I will drive to our old PLEASANT and PERSONABLE clinic in Huntersville

Made appts. for my whole family as we are new to the University area. Right off the start got our insurance information wrong even when I pointed out the mistake. The lady up front was cold and had the personality of a wet mop.

She was not helpful and shrugged off my attempt to point out that my family had a policy number change. got a call today that I tried to use an old cancelled policy… DUH LADY I told you and put the new card in front of your face! I guess that wasn’t important info to you.

If I can’t trust you with billing, and the atmosphere is BLAH, why would I bring my family here? I cancelled all 3 appointments and will never be back. I will drive to our old PLEASANT and PERSONABLE clinic in Huntersville

  6. they make it so difficult to even set an appointment

they make it so difficult to even set an appointment, then the visit is very brief and god forbid you ever need to reach them afterwards, you have to leave a message from the doc’s assistant and hope they’ll call back. They won’t. Save your time and stress, go elsewhere.

  7. I can't say enough about the staff and facility.

I have been a patient of Dr. Bartee-Allen for 9 years. Very professional, clean facility. Most of all their service is one of the best I have experienced. I have never waited for more than 10 minutes to be seen – with or without an appointment. I can’t say enough about the staff and facility.
