The worst tax experience
If I could give a negative zero review I would but I have to settle for a 1. Upon calling Al, I explained my tax situation thoroughly and United Tax Returns gave me a quote.
Being a smart consumer I asked him what his credentials are for preparing taxes.
He then set me an appt. and was ready to hang up and I asked him “how do you know that you’re getting everything onto my taxes??” He says, “oh, I can send you an organizer”.
What??? You mean this didn’t occur to you without the customer having to ask for it?
I then asked him if he makes a mistake does he charge to fix it? His answer was not a straight yes but “we will work with you”.
At the appt. he says he does the taxes on his own and I am supposed to leave, and leave my documents with him.
He says I need to put my physical address on the taxes, not my po box because IRS only takes the physical address.
This is not true. I left and sent him an email with the remainder of my deductions later in the week and he didn’t even acknowledge my email.
He would not return my calls to set up my next appt. He then said that Saturday was booked from “8 am to 7 pm” and avoided rescheduling.
I then called him again early the next week and we rescheduled for Wed.
On Mon. he calls me and tells me he cannot do my taxes unless he charges me an additional up to $200 for research on my tax situation because he had not reviewed my info the week before when I left him my folder of info.
I tell him the software will figure out the tax penalty owed and he said it doesn’t work that way, which is highly questionable.
I canceled my Wed. appointment with him and arranged to pick up all my tax documents. He would not face me to give me my docs.
Left all my personal information with the receptionist up front which contained my address, CDL #, social security number and so on.
I was very unhappy about this due to identity theft possibilities. He should have handed it to me personally.
In his business bio he says he is a “tenacious professional” who wants you to have the “best tax experience possible”.
My experience with Al was the worst tax experience I’ve ever had and he is entirely unprofessional, not to mention
he wasted my time and gas causing me to drive over 6 miles on two separate occasions to his office, in addition to the multiple emails, unanswered phone calls, and the time it took to put together my deductions by poring over my past medical bills and continuing education expenses.
He gave me the runaround from the start.
