The Galvin Group

Level Of Professionalism

I was the tenant currently residing in a one bedroom in Dorchester that the Galvin Group was selling.

The whole process started off very dicey, as my landlord never confirmed with me that he was working with the Galvin Group.

I just started getting random texts from them about showing my apartment.

It was around Christmas time when they started to ramp up their showings.

For the week of Christmas and the weekend of New Years, they were relentless about showing my place.

I understand business is business, but you’d think they might lay off during the week of Christmas, especially since I was living there.

But what I am truly upset about is when my identity got stolen.

My place was shown on February 19th – 4 days later a fraudulent credit card account was opened in my name.

I didn’t find out until about a month later when I received the bill. After filing a police report, I called Craig to express my concerns.

He made it into a joke asking “did they buy anything good at least?” My identity just got stolen (possibly from a stranger that came into my apartment) and this is a joke to you? He then proceeded to let me know he was always available in case I needed a realtor in the future.

I was not calling him to joke around, nor was I calling to do business.

I am truly disappointed in their level of professionalism and their lack of regard for tenants.

To be honest, I am not too surprised in how this all went down considering my former landlord, Mike had absolutely no respect for his tenants nor his fellow condo-owners – and like attracts like….

  1. To make a long story short we did not get the apartment.

I wish I had the option to not give them a star at all. On two separate occasions I’ve had a bad experience with this business. The first was when my agent and I were shown an apartment, we were met by one of the agents from The Galvin Group.

The agent did not introduce himself, when we asked questions about the unit he’s only answer was ‘I don’t know.’ Fast forward to a few days later, we found an apartment via trulia and my agent contacted Kim Ryan. She was very allusive and took forever to answer any of the questions my agent asked of her.

To make a long story short we did not get the apartment. I have a slight suspension that we were being discriminated against either by the landlords in the area who are look for a “specific” type of tenant, and The Galvin Group who are aiding and perpetuating these discriminatory practices.

  2. Wouldn't let me talk, talked over me, just plain RUDE.

First of all, I’ve never taken the time to review anyone online, that should tell you something. I called this office today and a very loud woman answered the phone, this company must work with hard of hearing folks because I was holding my phone away from my ear for the first 30 seconds while she quickly made me hold and then someone else picked up….

went from loud and abrupt straight to rude. Who starts a conversation out by asking someone about their credit? I’m looking for an apartment, I’d like to tell you more about ME and what I NEED and then talk about what you want to talk about. Wouldn’t let me talk, talked over me, just plain RUDE.

All of these bad reviews can’t be wrong. If you want to be spoken to like a human being, don’t call this office-even if they’re at the top of a Google search, people skills lacking from one rude call to the next. Enough said.

  3. I have never dealt with worse people in my life.

I have never dealt with worse people in my life. Aileen Buckley is nothing but disrespectful and truly doesn’t care about the tenants at all. Our fridge broke within the first few months of living there. We contacted The Galvin Group and got no response.

Not until we decided to not pay the rent did they decide to do something about our broken fridge. We had no fridge for about a week or 2 and they didn’t reimburse us for the spoiled food. Actually upon asking for a reimbursement, they never replied to the email, shocking!

We never had an agreement to drop off the rent to their office, not in the lease. The Galvin Group “required” it be dropped off, so we followed their garbage orders. Multiple times upon dropping off the rent, the very large women at the front desk would give me attitude, lovely.

All you have to do is walk into this office and you will understand what a joke this place is, I can’t believe landlords let these people treat their tenants the way they do.

Lastly, the security deposit. My roommate and I moved out and cleaned the entire apartment top to bottom. Not only did it take them a month to get back to us about the security deposit, they charged us $400 cleaning charge on a Microsoft Word Document as the receipt, cool receipt guys.

Leave it up to The Galvin Group to send you a MS Word Document saying “Cleaning $400”. The company “Fantastic Cleaners” that was responsible for this $400 charge is not a real company and they gave us no way to contact this company.
