Huge mismatch in expectation vs reality. My taxes were high and bit complicated and I was looking for someone who would spend some time on this and maximize my refund.
The tax consultant assured she will find different ways such as filing separate vs joint etc.
I don’t think she spent more than an hour. Her taxes came out to be higher than turbo tax.
Basically she did not do any due diligence.
Finally someone from her office called and said my taxes were ready without any offer to discuss or help improve.
When I heard the tax due from me, I was shocked! It was ~ 20k more than I calculated on TT.
Anyways, I did not want to end up educating her. So I decided to go the TT route.
They argued that I owe her money for the work done. I paid up $300 but I might have as well gone to Vegas.
She may be good for simple quick returns when she does not have to spend a lot of time, but not when you need real help.

George Keck is outstanding. He is both knowledgeable and professional. I will keep going to George because he makes me feel 100% confident that he is getting the details right. Not only that, but he takes his time with his clients and explains things very clearly. George is a tax professional you can trust.
Its a scam.
But her prices are double what I’ve paid with other EAs and CPAs at private firms. I don’t own property or have any investments, just a couple W2s and 1099s. (She did take $150 off without my asking which was still almost twice what I paid last year.)
In an attempt to make it all easy and stress free, there wasn’t much time spent on answering my questions or explaining things. It’s tax season and she’s busy, but I was, though nicely, rushed through not reading what I was signing and caught an important error made mostly because I was brushed off when trying to explain something in the first meeting.
Again she’s very sweet and tried to get what I owed down a lot. As all accountants do. She did a good job and I feel my taxes are solid. But for the cost, I will look elsewhere for an accountant who can financially advise me and provide a clear explanation of rates upfront.

I’ve used Vicki for years for my personal and two corporations. She might be fine for personal taxes but the services are inadequate for corporate. I even recommended my mother at one point but have moved on to a more professional service.
