Student Federal Credit Union

The Worst Organization

Student Federal Credit Union is one of the most unprofessional organizations I have ever dealt with.

All of the workers are undergrads. They only hire students, even their CEO.

If you have any problems, you won’t reach an “adult” or someone in charge.

Established banks will have a customer support department and a supervisor for customer service issues.

The further problem is that students are often replaced quickly, so they don’t have much experience, care, or common sense.

They are blind to the larger picture and have funnel vision. Second, their business model is to charge students hidden and arbitrary fees.

They may give you misleading information, knowing that some students might not have any prior knowledge of local banks.w

This can lead to a loss of credit for students early.

Large commercial banks like Citi and PNC know their customers and ensure a customer service team and a manager who provides excellent service.

Third, I want to reiterate their complete lack of professionalism and organization.

They cannot track payments/bills and won’t try to resolve any issues.

Moreover, they have shared their personal and private finances with other students on campus.

Some people will hold grudges against you and act hostile when on campus.

Choose a bank that is real! PNC is located on campus. There are Citi and B of A nearby.

You will know what you are getting into, and customer support and higher authority to assist you with any issues.

  1. I don't have an issue with the fact that they're teenagers.

These children don’t seem familiar with the concept of “good customer service.” they’re still teenagers to me.

The thing that bothers me is their unprofessionalism and grumpiness.

For example, I was recently charged a considerable fee that I disagreed with.

I made the long trek to the far end of campus and was greeted by a worker working on his math homework.

I calmly explained my situation to him as he finished his math homework.

He replied with a very bland “I need to check with my boss” and seemed annoyed that I interrupted his study with my concern.

It’s been three weeks since I received a response from anyone about my fees.

Let me summarize: Child workers, poor customer service, and lack of communication.

It’s hard to believe anyone would want to bank here. I don’t even know how and why this bank exists.

  2. The SFCU is literally the worst bank I've ever encountered.

I don’t have an issue with the fact that they’re teenagers. What really irks me is the fact that everyone is unprofessional and grumpy. Apparently “good customer service” isn’t a concept that these children are acquainted with.

For example, I recently was charged a large fee that I disagreed with. After making the long trek to one of the farthest ends of campus I was greeted with the sight of one of the workers working on his math homework.

As he scrambled to put away his work I calmly and clearly explained my situation to him. His responded with a very blase “I have to check with my boss and get back to you” and seemed to be irritated that I interrupted his study time with my concern. It has been three weeks and I still have not heard back from anyone regarding my fees.

Let me sum it up for you: child workers, bad customer service, lack of communication. I don’t know why anyone would bank here. I also don’t know how this bank was established and how it is still running.

  3. NEVER GET A RETURN CALL

I’ve been a member for almost two years, and the service has been terrible.

Although students do their best, this University of Pennsylvania institution is run by bad actors.

What does that say about the University of Pennsylvania?

It is not easy to lose money at Ivy League schools because students entirely run their CU.

I ask for a manager and never get a return call.

THIS CU TOLD ME I HAD TO JOIN because I was an alumna who bought a house.

What bothers me is that the “adults” responsible for this mess will not act because a connected mommy or daddy will fuss because their baby was hurt.

I will get out of their way as soon as possible to stop them from making a financial mess with my money!

  4. Do not bank here.

SFCU has been a nightmare. They punish you without warning and are completely unresponsive. Don’t bank with them.
