I echo that Student Federal Credit Union is the worst organization to ever deal with.
First, ALL the workers are teenage undergrad students. Their policy is that they only hire students, even their “CEO”.
Therefore, if you have any issues, you will not be able to reach an “adult” or someone in charge.
In established banks, you would have a customer service dept and a supervisor to resolve issues.
Additionally, since there is quick turnover with students they obviously do not have much experience, care or common sense.
They have funnel vision and cannot see the bigger picture Second, their business model is to charge “hidden” and “arbitrary” fees to students.
They tell you misleading information knowing that students might not have prior knowledge with local banks.
This will ruin students credit at a young age. The large commercial banks (PNC, Citi) know that customers are their business and make sure that a manager and customer service team will provide service and either not charge fees, or grant grace periods/reversals.
Third, I reiterate that they are completely unprofessional and unorganized.
They have lost track of payments/bills and will not try to resolve anything after.
Furthermore, some of them have discussed students personal/private finances to other students on campus.
If you complain, some have held grudges and acted hostile when they randomly see you on campus.
Go with a real bank! On campus, there is PNC. Nearby there is B of A and Citi.
At least you will know what you will be getting into, and that there is customer service and a higher authority for any issues.
