We went to Stockton Jan PC because of a referral and were initially pretty happy with the service although it was all paper, physical trips to the office and a bit slow/ uncommunicative.
However, they finally pushed us to really bad situation that deserves a review that is honest:
1. Extremely awful with digital file sharing. Took a long time to even get started and then never worked ok.
Eventually un-encrypted just password protected email attachments were used.
This should not even be considered acceptable when it involves so much sensitive information.
2. A quote was requested, given before the tax prep work was done. But despite requesting clarifications first, the filing was completed.
Then when I identified the mistakes (which should not have been committed in the first place), I was held responsible for paying more more time to fix them – even though no quote for the new mistake-correction was given or agreed upon.
After fixing it she simply sent us a bill by mail after a month. When I asked about it, no response was provided.
3. Without any communication, they sent our account to collections and then never responded to our emails.
She also had someone else in her office send me an email and sent us a letter saying they don’t want to have us as a client anymore. Thankful for that!
Extremely poor service. And what’s worse is that the general outlook is that we need to tell them exactly what to do.
I would rather pay more and get proper advice and someone who takes accountability for mistakes, takes ownership and advises me rather than me advising them!
