Stallcup & Associates

No sense of customer service here. Not worth the price

I used Stallcup’s services for to prepare my tax returns for 2 years and was quite disappointed. I’m not sure where all the positive reviews came from.First off, I never met my accountants. They pretty much refuse to meet and only deal by email.

I would say that Eric, the accountant that worked with me, was a good guy and responsive by email. I never had interaction with Jason or any of the others. That said, for the price I paid (10x the price of Turbo Tax), I expected more advice.

What really upset me was the fact that Jason made mistakes twice, and refused to apologize for them. 1) One year, he invoiced me for 20% more than he promised before the tax return. I then argued that he changed his pricing.

He said my return was more complicated than expected. I would’ve been fine with it if he had explained to me before he charged me. But no, he just charged me extra on the invoice without any justification. 2) Even worse, they made a mistake with my 2011 filing. They told me that the amount I owed IRS would be electronically withdrawn from my account.

It never was. One year later, I got a letter from the IRS claiming that I owed them money. I would expect Jason to figure out everything for me. But no, he told me to figure it out myself (so I had to call IRS twice, waiting 1 hour each time). I learned that the owed amount from 2011 was never paid, and I was charged fines on top of the principal.

I demanded that Jason pay for the fine. He eventually did, and then send me a letter saying that “you should seek another accountant for next year”. As if it is my fault that I followed his erroneous instructions and then had the audacity to ask him to pay for the fine? No sense of customer service here. Not worth the price.

  1. No attention to details

No attention to details: I stopped by at this location and their office environment didn’t give me the confidence to have them work on my taxes. It took a while to speak to someone and they don’t seem to care about regular folks. If there is no attention on the simple details like good customer service, then how can I trust them to do the important part, such as my taxes?

  2. I highly recommend him and would use his services again.

Jason was referred to me by a friend. He was so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating with the economic woes of. I highly recommend him and would use his services again.

  3. now I get to tell all my friends that I've got an accountant!

YES! Jason replied quickly to my e-mail and answered my questions completely… with good news, to boot! We met so he could look at my finances in detail and I immediately realized what a mistake it was to be doing my own taxes via TurboTax for all those years!

Jason was knowledgeable about my unique circumstances and provided advice designed to save me money. From now on, I’m trusting my taxes to Jason. Besides, now I get to tell all my friends that I’ve got an accountant!

  4. Great Service

I want to say how thrilled I am that my wife found Jason through a mutual friend (who is also delighted), and that we were able to engage his services instead of our former accountant. In all candor, I had initially feared that their close attention to detail and thoroughness in reviewing documents and integrity of character might all add up to be TOO openly transparent (and thus result in revealing warts we overlooked and/or a painful outcome for us); but they have proven that lean, highly competent, skilled and up-to-date professionals can match integrity and honesty and affordability and a financially healthy outcome that could not come to us at a better time for us.
