Spa Noir

Few sore muscle spots after a massage

My sister and I decided to have a spa day to celebrate the start of her maternity leave (she’s due just before Thanksgiving) and Spa Noir came recommended to us by a friend. My sister had a fine time and enjoyed her massage, but I gotta say I’m never coming back.

I tend to prefer a deep-tissue massage, since I’m at my computer or an art desk most of my day and I generally build up a wealth of knots in my neck and shoulders. But there’s a difference between having a few sore muscle spots after a massage and having actual bruises.

I have an actual goose egg on the right side of the base of my skull, from the scalp massage. I’ve been having trouble sleeping because it hurts, and this is five days later; my neck is now super stiff from sleeping oddly to avoid that spot on my head. I feel like I need a massage to get over my massage.

I hate to leave a review like this, because everyone was super nice and friendly there (my facial, for example, was great). But this is beyond “not what I expected” and into “do you even know how massages work.” I’ve had many many many massages before, since I used to work in a warehouse and had health insurance that covered it, and next time I think I’ll go somewhere that won’t leave me worse off than when I arrived.
