Sikorsky Credit Union

Don't Open An Account There

In the United States of America, the elite banks (which were bailed out with our tax dollars after their criminal behavior in 2008) make it a policy to rip off their customers, and generally make life as difficult as possible for everyone, in their quest for profit.

Today, Sikorsky Credit Union, by virtue of an idiotic policy, has followed the lead of the pernicious and gluttonous Bank of America. Allow me to explain.

My son signed over a check made payable to him, asking me to cash it for him.

The check was for $180.00, and drawn on…Bank of America (see photo).

I deposited this check into my savings account at Sikorsky Credit Union in Stratford, CT, where I have been a customer for several years.

The check was “reversed” by SCU, because it was made payable to my son.

I learned this by going to the branch after my son asked me to send him some money via Western Union. (My son is getting treatment for addiction in Stamford, CT).

I went to Sikorsky Credit Union in Stratford and was handed an envelope with the check in it, and told “we don’t accept doubly-endorsed checks”.

I asked to speak to the manager, a young woman who told me the same.

I explained that my son did not have a photo ID and could not cash the check himself.

No matter. “Our policy won’t allow this.” I explained that I’ve been a customer of SCU for years, had the funds in my account to cover the amount of the check, and that it would be helpful cash this check for my son. “Sorry. Try Bank of America.”

I drove to the Bank of America branch on Main Street in Stratford.

When I was granted an audience with the teller, I asked if I could cash the check, since I had ID, and the check was in fact drawn on their bank.

Sorry. Our policy won’t allow us to cash this, but if your son comes in with an ID we can cash it for an $8.00 fee.

” I explained that my son could not come in, which was the reason I was there to begin with, obviously. No matter. “Sorry, we cannot help you.”

Security measures concerning banking are of course necessary.

However, there is a point at which these banks, and now Sikorsky Credit Union simply don’t want to be bothered to help, and if they DO decide to assist, as in the case of BOA, they will gladly do so: for a fee.

Sikorsky Credit Union in Stratford blew off a regular customer today.

Don’t open an account there. Mine will soon be cancelled.

The tellers are generally cold and impersonal, and the manager did her best to get rid of me when I asked for help with a simple issue lie cashing a $180 check.

  1. Stay away from this credit union and close your accounts while you can!

Worst credit union ever, they like to back pedal on what their leading department says. They say your approved and have you come into the branch and then they say they never approved you.

They gave my mother the biggest run around ever and she keeps a good amount of money there. Shame on them and Nancy who is run at the main Stratford location who is rude and I guess doesn’t like to work weekends! Sandra in the leading the department who fails to disclose everything and then made another employee say she didn’t say the things she said.

  2. The customer service is horrible.

have been a member for 20 years. I decided to recently get my mortgage through Sikorsky. I received my first tax bill. I called Sikorsky to confirm that the payment will be made out of my escrow.

I also reviewed my paperwork for confirmation. I was assured that the payment would be made on time. About two months later I received a delinquent letter from my town.

I have called three times to rectify this. I have not received a call back. the individuals on the phone did not know how to review the loan and argued that payment was now due.

  3. the customer service experience is frustrating as the staff is completely uninformed and unhelpful.

Unless you live near a branch and can go inside and do banking the old way, my advice would be to look elsewhere for a bank/credit union. Trying to do banking Online with this place is impossible.

Simple tasks that can be done on other bank’s web sites with a few clicks require forms printed, completed, signed, then faxed or e-mailed. They have not yet progressed into the paperless world, and the customer service experience is frustrating as the staff is completely uninformed and unhelpful.
