The Worst Excuse

This is the worst excuse for a mortgage holder I have ever encountered. We refinanced our loan and ended up with RoundPoint Mortgage Servicing.

The first year, they doubled our tax amount in error, and we’re just going to increase our house payment by $500 s month.

It took several phone calls and taxes to get them to correct their error.

Each year, they paid our homeowners policy late, to the point that we received a cancellation notice.

This year was a nightmare, apparently they moved their servicing office without notifying insurance companies, or having mail forwarded.

They also failed to update phone numbers, so along with our cancellation notice we got a notice from Round point threatening to force their property insurance on our loan.

They had the escrow…We had invalid phone numbers at the old servicing address, and the 800 numbers were overloaded with calls. Can’t imagine why…

The only way we got this fixed was calling the Ombudsmen.

It was miraculously taken care of immediately, but for good measure, they sold our loan, which suits me fine.

If you have problems, call the Ombudsmen, they seem to be able to get things resolved.

    The worst FKING mortgage company ever! They will call you day and night for their crap services, I’m currently trying to get back $2000 that was taken from my escrow for homeowners insurance they claim I don’t have, my wife and the insurance company have called and sent them proof! WTF, I’m so PISSED OFF with this company already! F U ROUNDPOINT!

    Frustrating…I usually log in on their website to make loan payment and NOW I can not and they have no IT to figure out why!!!….I tried on several computers and same message…”We’re sorry, but an unexpected system error has occurred. We are unable to process your request.”

    Unfortunately, my loan was sold to this sham of a company. They incorrectly assessed my escrow, incorrectly force placed insurance on my account, and have wasted hours and hours of my time rehashing each issue with a different customer service rep.

    I just received a voicemail from them asking me to return their call and when I called back they have no idea why someone reached out to me in the first place. It surely wasn’t to solve any of the ongoing problems. It has been over 1 year and I’m still trying to fix the issues they have created. If you have a choice, DO NOT choose this company.

  5. Sketchy management.

    This company does not review documents submitted for proof of insurance through and sends notices that you will be charged $31,000+ annually for their insurance. You will still have to call to complete the insurance process after receiving an email that states “We will review them and take the appropriate action”.

    RPM will not provide an email or letter, for record keeping purposes, to confirm what has transpired or been processed over the phone . They do not follow through with statements made over the phone, so you will have to watch all notices and statements to confirm that RPM is doing it’s job.

  6. Bad Service Provides.

    They took over my loan after a refinance and the first 2 months they escrowed for property taxes then suddenly they only did so for one of the 2 lots- the one that is empty. I called and told them they have made a mistake and I need them to escrow for the taxes on the lot where the house is located.

    They told me they could not do that. Pathetic. Why cant they do it. Now I have to pay the property taxes separately every 6 months. This company is as bad as all these reviews say. What is really surprising is how no one from the company even bothers to respond to any of the huge number of bad reviews.

  8. Sad our laws don't protect consumers from this kind of abuse.

    Our mortgage loan was sold to them, they increased our escrow payment by 40% even though our loan is fixed and we’ve paid off more than 20%. Clearly they are just trying to gain some interest on money that isn’t theirs.

    Refinancing straight away with a better and more upfront company. Not criminal, but certainly unethical. Sad our laws don’t protect consumers from this kind of abuse.

    Terrible company, look elsewhere if you are thinking of financing. We actually re-fi’d just to get away from this company since our experience with them was so bad.

    I too was in the hey we bought your mortgage. Thanks RUOFF (NOT). This company is awful. I have yet to speak to a mortgage “expert” as they claim. I sent them all the insurance information they requested and called them and verbally gave it to them and I a month after that received a letter my insurance had lapped. Um no it hasn’t.

    After a couple more calls they may or may not have it in their system now. I don’t really care either I know it’s insured. Then I got the big escrow refund which if there were really a mortgage expert they would know the first year taxes were just on land, and clearly states this, but now a big ole house sits there and the taxes will go up 1000%.

    They have lowered my payment by so much they will barely have enough money in escrow to cover the insurance. So I suspect when the tax bill comes in May I will get another notification of we need to raise your payment way up.

    I too would give this TERRIBLE company zero stars if that were an option. I’m looking at refinancing from a local credit union when I get done here, but I’m sure the rates have risen so much it would be financially stupid to do it. We shall see.

    If you get sold to this awful company I feel sorry for you, but don’t be stupid and actually make your initial mortgage with this company. They are terrible.

    DO NOT USE this company if you can’t help it! Our house flooded 15 months ago & roundpoint has had our money for the past 9 months! It seems they are doing everything in their power not to give us our money! Every time you call it’s someone different, who also doesn’t care about your situation.

    No one ever calls you back to let you know they’re in need of something missing, we were supposedly sent only a partial of the money (which by the way no one notified us, out of the several people we had talked to that we were only getting a partial payment) 7 days ago because they didn’t have the decency to get it to us quickly since they’ve only had it 9 months!

    I’ve called several times & they just say wait 7-10 days, the post office told me it should’ve taken 3-5 days. To have it shipped quicker you have to buy the postage label & send it to them to use. I’m just so fed up with this company & the lack of communication, lack of help, lack of compassion & lack of promptness!

    I would give them 0 stars if possible. I didn’t chose this company, my mortgage was sold to Roundpoint. Extremely difficult to deal with, they are uninformed, do not communicate and they want you to believe they care about their customers.

    I couldn’t dislike a company anymore than this one. Having to contact an attorney after months of frustration with them. Pray you don’t ever have to deal with them.

    RoundPoint bought out my sisters mortgage. They call her DAILY sometimes twice a day!! Literally Dec 6th 2 calls, back to back. Seriously, stop calling!! You have the mortgage, she is not refinancing her 3.6% mortage – that by the way you already have!! Wow! What a way to keep future clientele away.

    I am APPALLED that this company has not had a class action lawsuit against them. They need to be shut down. Completely incompetent and incapable of properly managing ANYTHING! Home owners insurance?…oops! , Escrow? … “here’s your $2000 overage from your escrow account”… 4 months later… “oops, you have a $2000 shortage in your escrow”, “so we need you to pay that now”.

    I split it into payments per month and should have been up to date in several payments… 3 YEARS later…STILL SHORT ON ESCROW! Finally I asked how much TOTAL we owe to escrow to be caught up. They say $300. So I pay them…IN FULL…RIGHT THEN (this was in september by the way), just to be done with the mess.

    Instead of lowering our monthly payment by $100, our payment INCREASED by over $100. By the time we realized this 2 month later and called, they said because of taxes increasing in August we are now short on our Escrow by $5000!!! WHAT?!?!?!

    I just paid the “$300” that I was told I owed to be caught up a month AFTER August! This company is pulling some shady stuff, and I FULLY plan on going as far as I need to to expose them!

    If I could use negative numbers, I would. Roundpoint not only lost my October mortgage payment, but lost November as well!!!! EVEN AFTER I SENT THEM COPIES OF THE CANCELLED CHECKS!!!! Been fighting with them since October 16th.

    They still haven’t found the money. If your mortgage broker sells your mortgage to Roundpoint, run. Refinance. The customer service folks are clueless and the supervisors are always at lunch. Horrible company.

    A ridiculously incompetent mortgage company in my opinion. Avoid at all cost!!!! Impossible to get issues resolved and will rob you blind IMO! They will charge you significantly more for insurance coverage that you already have!!!!

    And when you send them info proving that you already have coverage they will claim over and over again that they didn’t receive it! This company needs to be put out of business! I guess that litigation is the only way to resolve anything with these crooks!

    This is by far the worst company you’ll ever work with. If your goal is to miss milestone dates on closing your loan because they forgot a document or needed something that wasn’t originally stated then this is the company for you. After you close your think that it would be smooth sailing, WRONG.

    I nearly had my insurance canceled because they never submitted payment to them via my escrow account (I had to pay it out of pocket).. It’s always nice when someone is taking money from you but not doing their job.

    I called to get reimbursement and sure enough they had all the correct information to pay my insurance but they just don’t do their part or care (this is the second time they didn’t pay)

    Lousiest customer service. Their portal is glitchy and does not store information. And, their customer service people don’t read notes. The illiteracy factor is huge. Because their portal does not work and they insist on trying to charge a phone fee (certainly is not going to help their service) I sent in three money orders in one envelope.

    They opened the envelope, selected one and cashed it, and conveniently lost the others and now are claiming my mortgage is late. Lazy and full of fraud. I have contacted a lawyer. This place is a scam. I would never have chosen such a firm with lack of responsibility and accountability. They were assigned to us.

    Horrible. I was hounded by Christopher Aldridge for several days back in July and August to refinance. Finally started the process because they were paying for the appraisal.

    Appraisal came back just fine. All of my documents were submitted. Loan conditionally approved It’s and I’m still getting the runaround. Horrible accounting mistakes regarding layoffs of credit cards and which ones.

    Once Christopher hooked me in…he’s been in the witness protection program, no where to be found. Starr Duke, the processor…very poor customer service

    Then the sales manager Braden got involved in October, assured me all was going to be good now…he’s also in the witness protection program.

    Horrible company, after 1st of the year, I’ll be refinancing with Compass Mortage and be rid of RoundPoint.

    Wait…wait…wait. 30 days before they will REISSUE a claims check! Ridiculous… Funny thing is, I got a $.02 interest check just days AFTER they supposedly mailed the claim check they told me.

    Crappy company. We the homeowner should have a say in home takes over our mortgage loan…any company shouldn’t have the ability to just “buy out” the loan from whom you financed through! JOKE!!

    Would give zero stars if possible. I don’t think anyone chooses to be a roundpoint customer. They buy up other companies mortgages and then provide non-existent customer service.

    They bought my mortgage and during the process, messed up my payment processing. They charged me for several bounced check fees, which was a mistake on their end. They refused to waive the fees. Horrible company.

  32. Customer service is a joke, especially if you sell your house.

    Been waiting two months from the sale of our house for a refund for our taxes, which were paid late. The AUDACITY to tell me it “maybe resolved” in another MONTH.

    They also use a third party company to send your money to the assessor… Never was told this. When asked if I could have their information was DENIED. I’ve had good experiences in the past but this has been a joke for TWO MONTHS.

    This is the worst mortgage servicing company I have ever dealt with, and I have had several mortgages. I have requested they sell my mortgage several times, and hope they do. I would refinance just to get away from them, but rates are way up since I purchased.

    Just pray your mortgage does not get sold to them, like mine did. They force place when you have provided proof with them listed as lienholder, they change payments, they have no idea what they are doing or how to do it professionally. I have had nothing but problems with them, and my payments are automatically drafted.

    Not payment issues, but other issues, as they just do not know what they are doing and every person you talk to has a different answer. Apparently they do not care either as I see mostly negative comments. Sad, the client/customer used to matter, but they know we cannot move our mortgage, so they don’t care.
