Miltronix Rick Mish Did A Shoddy Rebuild Of My Collins R-390A.

Avoid this shop if you are seeking quality radio repair and an honest repairman. In early October I hired this guy to remanufacture a Collins R-390A for $1,100. The radio arrived on Nov 15 and it came with two problems. The antenna trim was inoperable and reception below 8 megacycles was intermittent. The unit was returned for repair and after paying another $250 I got it back with the trim operative but now the radio had no reception at all when set below 8 megacycles. I sent it back one more time and after waiting almost two months it came back on Feb 25 in the same condition. He never even bothered to fix it both times I sent it back.

I finally sent the receiver to a qualified Collins shop where they found the problem, a bad capacitor. Also the PTO anti backlash spring was missing, tuning gear springs were too tight, the slug rack was binding, and the alignment was off. It cost $280 to straighten out the mess and to get it operating correctly.
