I joined Reece builders as a marketing professional. They asked me to get appointments for them by meeting clients door to door in St. Petersburg, Florida for windows installation. I was okay with the profile as they promised me to pay well. I have worked for many companies and never had any issue. I joined them on contract basis and they told me that they would be paying me weekly by cheque.
The payment will be according to the appointments made and every week it would be paid after checking the meetings scheduled. It was a good deal and I was allowed to leave anytime I felt uneasy with the profile.
For an entire week, I walked from house to house to fix appointments. Let me make this clear, it is not an easy job and really hectic. Sometimes, you will meet clients, who will rip you apart and will take out their entire day tension on you.
I did my best and was able to schedule 16 meetings. Though, I did not have any target but they told me to get at least 15 meeting every week. For the first week, that was also not a necessity. But, I did my best and was able to get them 16 clients to talk to.
I felt that they would be happy after seeing my dedication and performance. Leave the appreciation that I was expecting, they did not even bother to pay my money for which I worked so hard. After a week, when I did not get my payment, I checked with the HR team to know the update on the cheque. She told me that there was some problem with the machine and many have not received their payment. It would take one more week.
She told me that the payroll system had gone down. It was really scary to know. However, I checked with few old employees. They were not aware of any such case. I called the HR after a week again.
This time she told me that there was some issue and the payment won’t be made until a month. I was surprised to listen to her and it really made me think again of the decision of joining this company.
There were rumours about getting away with salaries of previous staffs, but I ignored those words. Reece builders have huge client base and I thought that no company with such a reputation with its clients would do something like this to its employees.
But, I was proven wrong. I do not think they would pay me after a month as well. Now I know of people who spent months in the hope of getting their salary credited to their account.
Hence, I would better quit and see for other opportunities. They played with my career and time and they would not be able to get away with this. They are liars and not at all a company to work with. They will eat your salary.
