3 reviews on PNC Bank

  1. High savings interest but terrible mistake.

I had read a few concerning reviews but because of the highest available interest on saving accounts decided to go for it anyway. Terrible mistake.

The approval of the saving account went smoothly but then the ongoing frustration continued to mount.
    1. Even though the account was approved, I couldn’t transfer any money into the account for 5 business days. Now understand, I was trying to put the money in, not take it out.
    2. Once I was able to transfer money in, it had to be done in $75k increments per day.
    3. The maximum amount that can be deposited in 30 days is $250k. I wanted to deposit $375k.

As you can see PNC seems to be doing everything possible to keep me from doing business with them. By the way, I talked with several people with the bank, going all the way to management, and there was no willingness to allow me to move forward in depositing my $375k in their bank.

So if you decide to go with them anyway, make sure you stay under the $75k amount and don’t think PNC will make it easy.

Just so you’ll know, I was able to move my money into another bank just the way I wanted to do it without any of the above problems. Yes, it was a slightly lower interest rate but if there was this much trouble depositing the money in PNC, I can’t imagine what other issues could have arose in trying to get my money out.

  2. When I called they said that I am not eligible.

I’m not going to lie, I signed up with this bank because of there offers. $150 when opening a new account. However Ive been with them for 2 years and never received the money. When I called they said that I am not eligible.

  3. I am shocked at the number of equipment issues in a first tier bank.

I went to the 11 Penn Plaza branch to close an account. The person at the front desk was a trainee and it took a long, long time to enter this simple request.Yesterday,

when she called her telephone number was garbled and I had to piece together a phone number from what I could hear on the voice mail and the web. Today, the message was that their fax machine was down and she could not forward the required papers to compliance. Ugh!
