Pacific Vision Institute

Spent a Lot of Money

Dr. Faktorovich was very attentive to me throughout my procedure and all the staff was alway friendly. I had the PRK surgery and was somewhat pleased with the result of my vision. My left eye did not come out as sharp as my right, so I have to squent to have 20/20 vision. About a month after surgery, I started having dry eye syndrom which would cause me to wake up having extremly painful scratches across one or the other eye.

I would have to go into the office to have a contact put on the eye and use antibiotics for about 4 days to heal. This started happening more and more often until now it happens most days of the week. I have spent a lot of money on expensive eye drops and gels to use at night with no changes.
After a year of going into the office with these painful scratches, they told me I could no longer come back in since my contract is over. They didn’t even tell me anything to do for my problems or where to go.
They told me that they knew beforehand that I had dry eye syndrom, but didn’t tell me the consequences I could face. I feel if they were honest, they should have reccommended me not to have the surgery! Now I have to go to a cornea specialist to see if they can help me somehow. I never knew this would leave me in such pain the rest of my life!

  1. Pacific Vision Institute Dont use company.

They were very quick about getting this and other other accurately critical reviews whisked off into the Yelp review wastelands……but it should be read.

  2. she responded and requested that I contact her by phone.

I contacted Pacific Vision Institute by email on Monday of this week. I got a response back that day from a Sabrina Meyer that asked me to contact her through email or by phone. So far so good. I should note that Sabrina Meyer’s first email ended with the following statement, “Congratulations on taking this big step toward getting your Life in Focus!.”

I thought this was a cheesy and lame marketing slogan that came across to me as rather insincere and impersonal. I responded to her email that same day. I didn’t get a response for two days. I emailed her back two days later, and she responded and requested that I contact her by phone.

  3. Not really satisfied.

If you like high pressure sales techniques and an expectation that you’ll join in a cult of personality for your eye surgeon, this is the place for you. (You also have to want to pay thousands more for LASIK than you’ll pay elsewhere…and to be willing to pay before they show you the informed consent forms…). I did not end up having my LASIK done here,

so I can’t speak to the quality of results, but why would you want to be treated this way? I was willing to pay more than most surgeons charge for LASIK and I narrowed my search down to two high profile LASIK surgeons in San Francisco. One was Dr. Faktorovich.

  4. It's your eyes, not a used car purchase.

  5. I was told I had to fill them out every hour over the weekend.

I went to PVI for my surgery because I was told it was the best place to have corrective eye surgery. Considering the cost of the procedure $7300 w/out VSP and 5900 with a VSP discount) my expectations were high. My main complaint about the experience is that at my initial consulation they told me I was a candidate for PRK. I had some trepidation about the procedure b/c of the pain and longer healing time. Then at my pre-op, after conducting all the tests, I was told I was going to get lasik instead.

  6. Plus his office never called me back.

I also considered Dr. Goodman in SF but decided not to go with him because he was the most extreme in cost as well as hardest to schedule a consultation. A colleague had her eyes done by a Dr. Newman who has offices in Hercules and Sacramento. He was significantly cheaper at ~$2000 but my research on him also indicated he was the least experienced and least qualified in terms of Board certifications, etc. Plus his office never called me back.

  7. I would recommend this to anyone......

I was so nervous about getting my eyes done but it the best thing I ever did Thank you Dr Faktorwitch. I would recommend this to anyone……

  8. I was able to drive after just one week.

I received the PRK surgery about a week ago, and have experienced amazing results! While the PRK has a longer recovery time than the LASIK procedure (my eyes were a better candidate for the PRK rather than the LASIK), the staff prepped me well on what to expect,

and the results were absolutely worth the recovery time! I am on week 2, and while my vision is not completely at the desired goal yet, it is getting clearer by the day. I was able to drive after just one week.
