Pacific Tax Service
Tax ServiceMy husband works for BNSF railroad and we are temporarily living in Washington for his job.
I put together a folder with all of our tax information, as I have done previous years, since there are special deductions for railroad expenses and we own a rental house along with our primary residence.
We met with Bill Romischer and immediately had some reservations.
1. When I first talked to him on the phone and I asked what his rate was he refused to give a price range and just told me he was comparable in price
2. He did not keep the folder I had with all the important paper work instead just jotted down numbers on a separate piece of paper. Which led to him having to call us for information he would have had if he kept all the papers I had for him
3. He told us it would be $250 for him to do our taxes, instead we received a bill for $425!
Not only did he charge almost double what he said it would be he missed a number of things on our taxes!
When we questioned him about the missed deductions he commented that he got us X amount back so what was the problem?! When we refused to back down about the missed deductions he said he would file an amendment after April 17.
In May I emailed him asking if he had done the amendment since it had been a month since he said he would do it, no response.
I waited a week and then I called, left a message and didn’t receive a call back.
Couple days later husband called, left a message but Bill finally called back.
Bill said he would get to it by the end of the week. A month goes by no deposit in bank account and no contact from Bill.
Call again and Bill impressively answers and trys to tell me that he still had a couple more extensions to do before he gets to ours again.
When I told him this was getting ridiculous he tried to then tell me he wasn’t going to charge me for the work since we hadn’t paid him.
I told him that we had paid him and the check had been deposited.
He then said he didn’t feel comfortable putting his name on our amendment and so we would have to find someone else to fix our taxes.
While we would not have been repeat clients since we don’t permanently live here you just blew getting any new railroad clients.
