OnPoint Community Credit Union

Lack Of Income And Poor Credit

I was an OnPoint Community Credit Union member for 10yrs.

The last 2-3yrs have been a strain as I was treated very poorly by all avenues of the bank.

They are becoming more and more like a big bank mindset.

I raised my limit on my card to pay for a trip to Europe, miscalculated so went to branch to have it reincreased and they refused “for my safety” Called cs and got it done in 2min.

They repeatedly sent me offers for their credit card and asked whenever I went in a branch.

I finally looked it over and decided to apply because they had an attractive rewards card.

I was instantly approved for $20k! Then they wanted some more info which I provided.

Then they demanded my tax returns. Really? For a credit card? Then when I refused they sent my letter saying I was not approved for $250 in credit due to lack of income and poor credit.

Funny considering the same day they demanded my taxes I applied for another rewards card and was instantly approved online for $20k credit line and just received the card in the mail.

No first born required. Then I had an issue with a vendor I made a purchase from.

I wanted to make a return because the product was not as advertised.

I tried for two weeks to get a response from vendor so you would think I could turn to my bank to get the refund. Nope. They refused.

They would rather lose the hundreds of thousands of dollars I would put through their bank in income and investments and so on than to reverse a charge for $45.

  1. I'M TOLD I'M ENTERING IT INCORRECTLY AGAIN.

YEARS and YEARS of no problems with banking online, but now I’m locked out of my accounts EVERY time I log in with this new system. This cannot keep happening! I am entering my password 100% correctly just to be told it’s incorrect.

So after calling to have my account unlocked and having to change it once again I do so, using a pretty easy to enter/remember password. I get logged in. Log off, then back on to test it. It works. Then I go to my laptop and to my phone app and guess what… I’M TOLD I’M ENTERING IT INCORRECTLY AGAIN.

I can tell you, I’M NOT! I went back to my office computer and the same password works. So it’s somehow picking and choosing where it will accept the correct password???? FIX THIS MESS ASAP!!!! I need access to my business and personal accounts everytime I request.

This is a giant nightmare and I am very close to changing banks just because of this.

  2. Your digital banking has me looking for other credit unions!

Same here…locked out of my account even though I entered the correct password, as I have been doing every other week for the last 5 years. Your digital banking has me looking for other credit unions!

  3. I don't have loyalty for them!

Like many others, I lost my job and fell on hard times from 2010-2015. I was unemployed for 5 years and am still trying to get back on my feet. I have been a member of Onpoint since it was PTCU in 1978.

Matters not! I ask for help to reduce my monthly payments and get caught up sooner, and they refuse. (“Continue having trouble,” is what they are saying to me.) So much for loyalty. If they don’t have loyalty for me, I don’t have loyalty for them!

  4. uncompromising

i am a member of this credit union and i gotta say, “trying” to get an auto loan through them was some of the worst experience of my life. the loan closer Eduardo Gomez favorite phrase had to be “we can’t do that”. they were so obstructionist, unhelpful,

uncompromising and not willing to negotiate or work with you. i was first pre-approved. so i thought hey, i got the pre-approval, let’s do this. little did i know that ever step of the way, that it was just gonna be one hassle after another.

  5. Bad Banking. Go somewhere else.

Onpoint practices in the reorganization of debit transactions to obtain higher fees. The big banks got into trouble for this and soon Onpoint your Karma will come.

Also they hold onto automatic deposited monies at least 3 days longer than they should. Their cashing actual checks is awful. Bad Banking. Go somewhere else.

  6. OnPoint pays its CEO about four times as much as America pays President Obama.

OnPoint pays its CEO about four times as much as America pays President Obama. It seems excessive–but then, the bank has screwed up its internet banking process four times worse than the Afforable Care Act–so maybe it’s about right.

  8. the experience has been horrible.

Onpoint used to be very customer service oriented but have gone downhill lately. As noted before- excessive waiting to talk to someone. My biggest gripe is that even some corporate banks don’t charge additional ATM fees.

Onpoint charges $1.50 on top of the fee you pay directly at the ATM. And if you want to check your balance before you withdraw funds, be prepared to get hit with another $1.50. I got stuck paying a total of $6.00 in fees for one trip to the ATM!

  9. DO not go here

This bank is awesome overall. They don’t give ridiculous charges when I’m overdrawn, which is nice because I went overdrawn twice.
However, I had a horrible experience at this particular bank /once/ It was not the bank itself, but this horrific teller.

There is no doubt in my mind that she treated me like shit because of my appearance (I had an unconventional hair color.) Anyhow. My bank account is mine, but in my mothers name. Every month I go to the bank to deposit my social security benefit into my account, and I’ve never had any problems. But this woman treated me as if I’d stolen the check from my mother and was trying to put it in my account without her permission.

She insisted I had to put it in my mothers account, because the check also had my moms name on it. I kept repeating myself “my moms name is on my bank account.”

But she wouldn’t listen to me, she just completely refused to help me. Another teller which I had regularly looked over at us, but didn’t say anything. It seemed she was upset with her coworkers behavior as well.

I had never had a problem depositing my check before or since then. But because of that horrific experience I have to give this bank a low rating.

  10. Oregon Medical Cannabis Patients BEWARE.

Oregon Medical Cannabis Patients BEWARE. Get a money order and do not write a personal check to renew your card! They look for the words OHA and OMMP on the checks you issue.

Then they will cancel your accounts and leave you out on the street with no disability payments and a canceled credit card.
Avoid the Hillsboro branch by Winco. The manager there is out to getchaaa

  11. For god's sake HIRE somebody!!

Took time out of my morning and a couple of hours off work to go down to my branch to discuss mortgages vs home equity loans as I am getting ready to buy a home next month.

Walked in and the lady at the membership desk tells me they only have ONE mortgage officer and she is not taking walk-ins and besides she is handling the mortgages for three OnPoint branches. I guess this is what being a credit union is about…..not quite a bank yet.

I also suppose that the people on up the ladder at OnPoint either don’t care or don’t listen to their people in the trenches when it comes to providing decent customer care. For god’s sake HIRE somebody!!
