One Medical

They routed my insurance without checking with me

I have been a member for a couple years now. I recently signed up my children as well and what a nightmare! There has been continual miscommunication over the past few months. Most recently, I tried to get immunizations through their travel service. I was quoted $75 for a typhoid vaccination (not covered by insurance). I agreed to get this for each of my children. Today, I received a bill of $240 for each of my children for this vaccination! When I spoke to a representative about the bill, they told me that they billed this through my insurance and my insurance is charging me $240 because it’s not covered. I assumed they would bill me directly for the out-of-pocket expense, instead they routed it through my insurance without checking with me. So, I am now sitting with a $500 bill. Ridiculous. This is only one example (of many). This practice has caused me so much time and energy. I am done.

  1. One Medical Is Scammer.

One Medical was recommended to me by a very good MD. My experience is that the care is sub-standard and I have initiated closing my account. I find the storefront to be a glorified referral source providing a combination of mis-information and mis-diagnosis and referrals to other offices where there is a long wait to get an appointment.

  2. I had a horrible experience at OneMedical.

I had a horrible experience at OneMedical. For the most basic primary care that requires just a nurse, it is fine. If you any remotely complicated issue – from a persistent cold to a concussion to a gynecological appt – it is terrible. For one,

you wait just as long to see as a doctor than at any other practice – sometimes longer because OneMedical doesn’t have many MDs relative to patients. Even worse, they will always push you to see an RN even when the issue is more complicated and the doctor knows more.

  3. Not so much.

I followed my amazing primary physician when she moved to this practice, despite the fact that the location is inconvenient for me. I was prepared to love One Medical Group and didn’t balk at the membership fee as they extolled the virtues of all the services I would receive. I was excited at the prospect of receiving VIP treatment as promised…. Not so much.

  4. Echoing the sentiments of ridiculous charges.

Echoing the sentiments of ridiculous charges. Thankfully the cost was on my employer but still, unbelievable! We were charged $485 for a 20 minute visit and a simple test!

  5. I'm a german journalist and lived in SF up until a year ago when I visited One Medical Group for an issue with my heart.

I’m a german journalist and lived in SF up until a year ago when I visited One Medical Group for an issue with my heart. The doctor was alright. The usual check up. He gave me a referral to another doctor. A 15 min visit. I wasn’t impressed really impressed. I already had trouble with them back then when I got a hefty bill for my visit, besides the money they already got from my insurance.

But here it comes: I’m extremely outraged about these guys. Their prices are not affordable at all. But this takes the cake. When you go there and sign a paper you better watch out – as I had to find out this morning. I got an notice in my email, telling me I was reneweing my anual membership (and may I mention, it’s an auto-renewal).

  6. I'm amazed at the service I got at One Medical.

I’m amazed at the service I got at One Medical. Dr Milo is the kind of guy you can easily put your trust. Membership is well worth the price and their referrals to specialists in the area can’t be beat.

  7. I've been going here for a while and have had some good experiences.

I’ve been going here for a while and have had some good experiences. No one is ever perfect all the time. Over the past couple of years they have evolved their business practices and have evolved into what I consider and very professional group.

One interesting fact is that every time I go in for a visit at either of their locations there’s a different receptionist each time. I don’t understand if they just don’t want to hire someone full time or if they have a high turnover for help here.
