Frustrating Providers

Dr. Korah was perhaps one of the most frustrating providers I’ve ever dealt with. Regretfully, because I had a HMO and it was a mid-year provider switch, I was “stuck” with her for the remainder of 2017 once I did switch over to her.

She was very off-putting during my initial appointment with her – I was cut off multiple times and my concerns were dismissed and invalided.

She wanted to talk about what she wanted to talk about, not what was important to me as a patient.

And let me tell you, our interpretations of my “presenting problem” varied dramatically.

Her bedside manner is terrible. I felt no empathy, compassion, or warmth.

I didn’t feel understood or cared for or that even my concerns were valid.

She is also very referral happy and sent me out to see several specialists; it made me wonder why I even went to see her for any of my concerns.

My blood pressure was always through the roof when seeing her.

Whenever I would see another provider (or even my new provider), it’s always been normal, if not described as “excellent”.

I can only deduce its only because of how much she stressed me out.

  1. I had a horrible experience at OneMedical.

I had a horrible experience at OneMedical. For the most basic primary care that requires just a nurse, it is fine. If you any remotely complicated issue – from a persistent cold to a concussion to a gynecological appt – it is terrible. For one, you wait just as long to see as a doctor than at any other practice – sometimes longer because OneMedical doesn’t have many MDs relative to patients.

Even worse, they will always push you to see an RN even when the issue is more complicated and the doctor knows more. And their care model means you don’t talk to one provider consistently. I would write them about issues and get an email back from a different nurse every time. I would have to re-explain everything to them each time, and would get different advice.

They only gave a cursory look at my chart. Also, if you ask for a longer appt with a doctor, they wills till book you for half an hour and force you to make a separate appointment, wasting your time.

  2. Bad Service Provide.

I love the concept of a quick service PCP, and have visited 3 doctors in the Madison location Appointments are on time and the providers are friendly and generally well informed. I like that you can communicate with them through their app and their website – makes it easy to follow up without always going in to the office.

The big problem is the billing office. I visited a doctor in July 2017. My insurance was supposed to pay 100%. I received a bill for $96.99 for my visit. I paid it, but contacted One Medical on August 3rd to tell them that I thought I was overbilled. I got a message back from the admin telling me that I did not understand my insurance and that I had to pay the $96.99.

I received the Explanation of Benefits from my insurance company which indicated that they paid 100% of this visit to One Medical. I forwarded the EOB to One Medical and asked for a refund of the overpayment.

I contacted them again in December that I still had not received the refund for the overpayment. In January 3, 2018 they responded in writing that the now agreed with my assessment that they owe me money and it would take 4-6 additional weeks to cut me a check for $96.99.

I think it is not right that it takes them forever to refund an overpayment – I still don’t have the money despite multiple contacts asking them to expedite this process.

To be honest, their accounting department should have noticed the overpayment without me chasing them and returned the money to me, but I guess their finances are so bad that they needed an interest free loan from me for nearly 6 months.

  3. Worst doctors on the planet.

Worst doctors on the planet. Some hot looking nice doctor told me I had a cold. Next three weeks im out of school with the effing black plague dying. WORST doctors on the planet.

Should be an illegal practice. This is not people who didnt get into medical school, this is people off the black market. Book an appointment at One Medical only if you are trying to die.
