I love cars, and these are my passion. I have purchased four cars till date and find myself equipped with smallest details of these cars. I was dealing with a company which was fine, but they did not have much options. I was looking for 2006 Maserati Gran Sport Spyder which was not available with my dealer. So, I tried to check for other options. I found about privateautotrader.com which is owned by Nick Garulay.
For many, he is an inspiration for making a fortune out of these cars. But, for me, he is nothing more than a fraud. I contacted his company for this car which was on their website. I spoke to a guy there and he said that the car was available and will be mailing the complete details over mail. In between, he suggested me to take a tour of other cars as well and asked me to consider a different model as well.
I knew what I wanted. At first, I though he was just suggesting. But, after the deal, I understood that he wasn’t suggesting, but wanted me to drop the deal and still stay with them. The car was already in talks. What they were trying was choosing the one with better pricing. I had the internet price for the car. But, the guy said that the prices differ, and they would be providing concessions as well.
The mail reached me on the second day after my call. I checked the details and it looked fine to me. I had also spoken to one more dealer and he was ready to sell me the car at a higher side of what Nick was selling. He gave me a week to decide. Or, he said that he would be selling it to someone else. I said the same thing to the guy from privateautotrader.com. He said that he would be finalizing things in cheaper rate. So, I dropped the deal with the other dealer.
I got a call from Nick the other day. He asked if I had read the mail and said that he had sent another email for a different car with better features, still cheaper. I told him that I wont be interested in either ways. He understood that I won’t change my mind. So, he informed that the car was already in talks with someone else. If he rejects the deal, he would be finalizing it with me. This was insane. I cancelled the deal with someone else after that guy from his office promised for a better deal and now the car was not available at all.
After a week, I received a call from the same guy and he said that I can make the payment and book the car as the other deal was cancelled. So, I did as he said. The car was delivered to my address. I was at my office and my wife received the car. She informed that the car had a dent and the wheel balancing was not in place. When I got back, I checked that for myself and found few more problems with the car.
I called Nick right away and told him about the issues. I said him to cancel the deal or get the car fixed at his cost with additional benefits. But, Nick denied. He was not ready to get me my money back. He said, either I make the remaining payment or if I cancel the deal, I will lose the car as well as the advance amount.
He told me that the problems that I was referring to was not notified when the car was delivered and after 5 hours, if anything happens, it becomes our responsibility. I believe this was a scam. If they had anything like that, they should have delivered the car while I was at my place. They did it intentionally.
Nick is unprofessional. He likes to trick people with beautiful photos and false information. He got me a trash and I have to spend extra dollars to fix this thing up. If you at all want to find a good car, do not contact Nick Garulay. He is a jerk.
