Eight years from time of installation, we’ve had to remove the window and replace all the framing, supports and casements of our bay window. The contractor did not seal the outside framing causing extensive dry rot damage to the entire installation. We were alerted to the dry rot problem when our bay window began to sag making it impossible for us to close and lock the windows which are at street level. When we removed the window we also found the window lacked any support from below the extended frame making it a safety hazard as well.
Since the contractor claims to have included all fees for the necessary building permits in the cost of the installation we do not see how this shoddy level of work could have or should have passed any kind of legitimate inspection.
