Mountain States Title Corporation
I Have Never Worked With A Mountain States Title CorporationOn August 29, Michelle Romero compromised my SSN and other personal identifying information by emailing me this information unencrypted from one domain to another.
I immediately replied asking her to not send any more documents in that manner.
She replied stating “We have a strong firewall here and it is encrypted”.
Whether or not it was encrypted at her site, it was most certainly sent unencrypted, and a firewall can’t prevent anybody from intercepting an email sent out of your network and firewall.
I explained this to her and offered to discuss further with her to provide options for properly securing this data for future clients that other companies practice (I have been working in IT and data security for a very long time).
There was no desire to change their negligent practices wrt security. No apology. Nothing.
Eventually (and possibly already), one or possibly many of their clients will fall victim to identity theft.
I have never worked with a Mountain States Title Corporation that was so adverse to the idea of taking basic precautions to protect client data.
