Mickey Cogliandro – Citibank

Loan Service

Mickey Cogliandro – Citibank has a schmoozy personality that I’m sure has helped him be successful in this business and when we talked to him initially, we were convinced he was going to really be helpful.

He told us that he had dozens of products that would work for us, but at the 11th hour we were forced to come up with tens of thousands of dollars (yes, really) to not breach the contract we had signed (which would have potentially put us on the hook for more even more money – not at all a good situation to be in!) because not a single one of his “dozens” of options worked.

In addition, when we finally sat down to the closing table to sign the paperwork for our loan (after Mickey missed our closing date multiple times, each time putting us at risk of losing the house and the earnest money), Mickey had grossly miscalculated our payments in his Good Faith Estimate, to the tune of multiple hundreds of dollars per month.

He and his team also seemed very in over their heads: disorganized with paperwork (kept asking and asking for the same items) and at times were not available when every second mattered with trying to meet closing deadlines.

I cannot explain how incredibly stressful this entire process was due to Mickey’s unethical over-promising and sloppy paperwork that put us in one terrible situation after another and ultimately left us stuck paying way more for a house than what he estimated.

  1. Never Again

As a senior couple trying to preserve living in San Francisco we did not have much hope. Trying to get a mortgage as retirees seemed impossible until we were referred to Mickey. He was able to not only get us a mortgage but it was at a great rate.

Additionally, his support team was very patient and helpful walking us through the arduous processes of submitting documentations for the loan. He even helped after we were approved with related financial advise and services. He is our 5 star guy. Harriet and Howard.

  2. They always returned my call fast, and they got the job done in a tough situation.

I have only great things to say about 7×7 and Mickey Cogliandro. They were all over my loan/purchase from day 1, and the process was neither easy nor straightforward. They always returned my call fast, and they got the job done in a tough situation.

  3. We were about a week from closing escrow on our new condo/loft in San Francisco

We were about a week from closing escrow on our new condo/loft in San Francisco, when our original mortgage bank (BofA) pulled the plug on the loan due to what they called a ‘software glitch’ that no one at the bank had the stones to override as they seem to all be scared every since the threat that they might actually be held accountable for loans they underwrote was placed on them.

We had no idea what to do and thought we were going to lose our opportunity to buy the place when our real estate agent, Faye Dibachi (who I would highly recommend) referred us to Mickey Cogliandro at Guarantee Mortgage. We literally called him in a panic and he told us to grab our file from BofA and drop it off at his office and he would check on it when he got in later that day.

It was about 3pm when we dropped off the file. By about 6:30pm that night he said that he had put our info through his own underwriting software and that he should be able to get us the loan. He asked for a few more pieces of information (not the mountains that BofA asked for), put up with a few changes that we made last minute (as we increased our offer by $5,000 to make sure the sellers didn’t back out when our first loan fell through) and within a week our loan was guaranteed and within about 15 days from when we first contacted Mickey, we closed escrow on our new home.
