Manchester High Court SheriffsSay they are High Court Sheriffs collecting money owed from a company that you dealt with in the past and they are coming to your house to collect money (a few thousand) and they will be putting their £1000 fee on top and if you do not pay it they will come in your house and take goods to the value of what is owed.
Obviously I said I did not owe anything as I had paid all monies owing and finished the contract, to which they reply they have a voice recording of yourself and the person agreeing to end the contract via a recorded letter ( which you have no memory of). Also when you insist that you have had no paperwork or letters from the company or court they say, “It says here that you are a non respondent”
They then say to hold the line and they will talk to their client. After a few minutes they come back and say that you have a good case for a counter claim but that the client will accept a reduced payment. They advise you strongly to pay this and that once it is done they will take the money from their client after they have informed them of a counter claim and put it in a holding account until it goes back to court.
They give you a name, sort code, account number and reference you to pay the money into.
Once you have done this its bye bye money!
At the time they rang me I had been out of hospital for an hour after having major surgery and was under the influence of general anaesthetic, morphine and other pain killer, so I couldn’t even think straight. I was also on my own as my husband had popped to the shop to get some milk.
If it had been another day I wouldn’t have fallen for it.
