please beware buying from this location, if you can visit another retailer please do. worst experience in my 31 years of living. poor customer service, poor management. unable to ever reach customer relations or corporate im not sure how these people are even still in business!!!!!!! if i could give no stars i would but for some reason Dirty Scam wont allow it.

  1. FAKE LEATHER!

    FAKE LEATHER! Purchase a set of high end leather sofa and love seat including additional warranty. Within a year leather was losing color i.e. going from dark brown to white (real leather doesn’t lose color). Marlo would not stand behind their product. The warranty sold through Marlo is based in FLA they also would not look into issue.

  2. This is unacceptable!

    BUYER BEWARE!!! I went into the store on May 25th and purchased three bedroom sets. The sales person handed me my receipt and told me someone would call to schedule a delivery with in 2 to 6 weeks. I never looked at my receipt, I just put it in my purse and left. I called June 21st and asked when would someone be calling me about delivering my furniture. The costumer rep said, “Ma’am furniture won’t be delivered until the end of August beginning of September.

    You have a special order.” The sales rep or the cashier NEVER said that. Well, here we are September 20th and still no furniture. I called and another costumer rep said that they still don’t have the furniture in stock and their policy states you can’t get a refund. This is unacceptable!

  3. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!

    BUYER BEWARE! They are deceptive in their sales, the furniture is junk and their service is non-existent! BUYER BEWARE! They are deceptive with their “extended warranty” which is not a warranty at all and they assure “we will take care of it”. We purchased a $2,000 sofa (and that was 1/2 of list price!). It was delivered 3 weeks later. We immediately had problems with the recliner portion that just flops back at varying times. I called service for a warranty issue – they took almost 4 weeks to respond and then said they could only service if I sent them pictures of the problem.

    I sent the pictures of the recliner back – I tried to explain that the problem was in the recliner not holding an upright position. They never responded. I called several times to get update. Always told “someone will get back to you within 5-7 days” that went on for months. Then within a week of 1 year from purchase I filed a new claim with the same problem, because the problem continued and the poor quality of this furniture is now fully evident.

  4. I will not shop at this location again.

    If there was an option for no stars I would have selected it. My Marlo’s experience was horrible. Not only was I miss lead by the sales person when I purchased the high dollar items, but I was also offended by my perception of the lack of professional of several of the employees.

    For four weeks straight I was told that my furniture would be in the following week, but each week I was disappointed and told something wrong/damaged in my order. After way too many calls and visits to the store I had to speak to, two managers to finally cancel my order.

    It took almost 40 minutes to get a refund because the front desk attendant didn’t know how to work the system. The phones were out of order and there was a lot of confusion on what to do or who could “ok” the cancellation. I will not shop at this location again.

  5. I will never buy furniture from Marlo's again.

    I will never buy furniture from Marlo’s again. I paid $2000 cash for furniture back in September of this year. My furniture was delivered on Dec. 1 and it was damaged.

    This was new furniture that was ordered and was not in the store. The furniture was returned to the warehouse. This has been a bad experience all around. This was the Alexandria, VA located where I made the purchase. This was my first and last purchase.

  6. Very Bad

    I am a new home owner and was very excited to get new furniture. Carl was an excellent Sales Person. The day after i made my purchase i happen to see the identical sectional in the window of a discount store less that 2 blocks from Marlo Furniture. I aksed for my refund and was denied it.

    On the day that my furniture was delivered it happened to be the wrong items(God does not like ugly) so they took the furniture back told me to wait 3 days for the furniture to be placed back in inventory until i could be refunded, next they told me that i had to take my credit card to Marlos to be refunded.

  7. To make a long story short Don't Do It

    When i got to Marlos they told me that they would have to keep 30% of my purchase amount due to me returning the item that never got delivered in the first place. To make a long story short Don’t Do It!!!

    Let these bogus professional be. My Credit Card company is currently fighting for my full return on furniture i never received.

  8. Never Again

    I was very displeased and didn’t mind I made payments already. I was told by the manager that I should have known better that my bed was special order. Why should I know better if I was told my bed was in stock. I was also told I was called but I was never called.

    To find out they called the wrong number. After explaing everything over and over why I was upset. And I too work in customer service, then the tone changed. I decided fine, Ill keep the bed. I picked it up and made two more payments after this. The first one for some reason the member ship was added back on my account.

  9. Bad experience from start to finish.

    Bad experience from start to finish. Purchased a bedroom set at Marlo. Was told to get the warranty because it covered everything and if we didn’t use, “you’ll get your money back.” Only after we paid for it, were we informed that we will never get our money back, we’ll get store credit.

    Then they called to say that they simply wouldn’t be delivering on the day we agreed to and would reschedule for later. Then, after less than a year, the bed broke. The warranty company won’t cover it, an Marlo basically told us we’re on our own.

    Took weeks to get in touch with the warranty company (Guardian) and now we have no bed and no refund and are simply out the money. This place is horrible. Should have know when sales people literally stalked us through the store the entire time.

  10. I had a great experience with Q at the Forestville location.

    I had a great experience with Q at the Forestville location. He greeted my family with a warm welcome when we entered the store. He was very attentive and personable. He wasn’t pushy but was very patient. I ended up purchasing a buffet and will come back to Q for future purchases.

    After fixing this I made my last payment and honestly would never recommend any one purchasing anything from them ever again. I was called a couple weeks later by a woman who apologized for my inconvenience and admitted to by bed being three weeks late.

    It was a weird message that was left but I let it go. I was called again by them to speak to someone whose name is not even close to mine. I am very displeased and will not be returning as a customer. Everyone there needs to be retrained. The left hand doesn’t know what the right is doing. It really was a horrible and stressful experience.

    I should of looked through it so I too take blame but I too work in customer service, this should have been explained to me better as an uniformed customer. So now I find out I’m paying for a membership I didn’t need and asked if it could be taken off. This same day I complained about the time it was taking for my bed to get here and why it was taking so long.

    The young lady at the front desk checked to see if she could find my bed set any where else and I was told they had it at another warehouse close by. It had been over a month since I made the purchase. Why wasn’t this found out or checked on when I asked the first time.

    I was told that my bed wuld take another week to arrive and they would call me that following Wednesday. I changed my number so I gave them my new number.

    Very friendly people and they always have a great sale every time I go.
    Also, I love how they stage their furniture. KeAuna was very nice. I will surely be back

I had one payment left and during the last payment they still had my account info wrong. Membership was added back on again and it was a different balance I was told over the phone by the manger.

    I went to Marlo Furniture to purchase a new sofa and loveseat. The salesman was Carl, he was awesome! He went out of his way to assist me with all my questions and make sure that I was completely happy with the selections I had made. I also purchased a curio,

    not only did Carl walk around the store to help me find the one I wanted, even when I wasn’t quite sure if it would match the sofa and loveseat, Carl asked for assistance from another employee and actually move the curio next to the loveseat so I could know for sure if the furniture would match and it did.

    At that point I knew that Carl had to be a top salesman because of his desire to please the customer. He confirmed that he was and then he told me, I want to make sure you are happy with what you are about to purchase. If you go to Marlo Furniture in Forestville/District Heights be sure to ask for Carl!

    I went to Marlo’s on a mission! I was looking around not finding what I was looking for and David asked what I was looking for and then said follow me! Discounts and free set-up delivery! I have been happy every since!! His spirit is amazing and customer care 5 stars!

  19. I would not recommend them and would not buy from them again.

    Don’t be deceived by their ads. They don’t honor them. Their free delivery is not free. If they don’t have your items in stock expect it to take at least six weeks and don’t be fooled by their salespeople. I would not recommend them and would not buy from them again.

  20. Completely unacceptable.

    This store is awful. They do not inform you of their policies up front, they keep telling you that everything will be delivered in 2 weeks and refuse to make multiple deliveries when things take over 8 weeks to come in. We purchased a dining room set, bedroom set and living room chair and paid in full.

    8 weeks later we were waiting on 2 items and asked the remaining items be delivered free of charge while we waited another 6 weeks for the last 2 items (our purchase qualified for free delivery).

    We were told no, we could not speak to a supervisor, and we would need to go into a store to cancel. I will never shop here again. We were clear when we bought we needed everything in 6 weeks. Completely unacceptable.

    I wish if there is less than one star for this company , because today they delivered to me a couch and chair that cost me ABOUT 1500$ , and it was too big for my living room ,

    i want to return it and get refund, they told me if i do that it will be 30% cut from the price (450$), i told them if i know this the policy i would not buy from them , I ADVICE NO TO DEAL WITH THEM , SHAME FOR THIS COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS IN UNITED STATE

    This 3star review is SOLELY and ONLY RELATED to one employee, Ms. TAMEKA who exhibits superior professionalism that has a lasting impression of positivity, so I write to encourage her to continue in her contagious uplifting spirit with sincerest hopes that it will carryover to the other staff or perhaps the Executives with place her at another location so that she’ll flourish even more.

    This Forestville store needs an overhaul and intense training on respect and professional self-control as this lacks in its management and several other staff as it’s environment is truly unprofessional and lacks true customer service skills with so much disrespect,

    literally conduct that’s offensive in a customer service work environment as its allowed in conversations that are argumentative directly and openly towards customers. I didn’t put the names as I’ve complained directly to the corporate office and await a call from the District Manager and Board of Directives!!!

    I have been shopping at the Forestville Marlo furniture for years and I love their furniture. It was nice to see a respectful and knowledgeable young man (Lynell Alston) representing Marlo to the fullness. He was very professional and knew the furniture items very well and it is always nice when you have a pleasant shopping experience. Lynell is truly a positive addition to your store.

    Admittedly, I was apprehensive about visiting the store after reading some of the reviews and having a less than satisfactory experience at the Alexandria store, but decided to go in and find out for myself. I must say that the customer service rendered to me at the Forestville store by Carl Brown was exemplary.

    I pretty much knew what I was looking for, but was interested in a different color and fabric than was available in the store’s inventory. He took the time to explain the options and offered opinions and very useful suggestions on the selections made, at my request.

    I took quite a long time to make a decision, but Carl never once pressured me or exhibited any displeasure about my indecision. He answered all of my questions at the time of purchase, in addition to questions that I had afterwards. His sales manager was also helpful in explaining specifics of my order.

    Carl made the experience a pleasant one and I’m glad that he was the salesperson that I encountered at the store. My order is a special order, so I’m hopeful that delivery of my new purchase will go smoothly, as well.

    I Love Marlo Furniture Warehouse. I have been buying all of my home furniture from Marlo since 1979. Simply the best. Customer Representatives are AWESOME and always going above and beyond with helping me choose the right furniture that fits my home decor. Whenever I am in need of furniture Marlo Furniture Warehouse is my number 1 store.
