Magnolia Plumbing Heating & Cooling

I was not only charged for an incompetent service call but my card

Incompetent, horrific and cheating. Just several words that come to mind when I want to describe my experience with this company.
Magnolia Plumbing has been servicing my water heater for many years and since I live out of state and rent out my unit I haven’t had a chance to replace them as a service company. No more!!!

I called Magnolia to to determine the reason for water pooling in a water heater pan. My credit card number was requested by the scheduling department and I was assured that no charges will be placed on it without my authorization. The technician did come on time and called me to tell me that the water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced. The water heater that Magnolia installed 4 years ago. But wait, now they claim they didn’t have a record of every replacing my water heater
so they didn’t want to take responsibility for the replacement and warranty. Well, 4 years is way too soon for a water heater to be replaced so I did bother this time to call another company to get a second opinion. Surprise, surprise, the water heater was not leaking. It was a pipe above the water heater that was dripping water into the pan. Fixed in 10 minutes, done.

Now the interesting part. I was not only charged for an incompetent service call but my card was charged additional $421 for no reason. After I placed a call to Magnolia I was told that, they had no record of it. How convenient. Why don’t we cheat our customers into buying a new water heater, charge their credit cards and then claim we don’t have a record of it. Great way to get some money out of our customers hoping they are not going to review their credit card statements.

Save yourself time, energy and money and go somewhere else. The bombastic statements about quality of work the company puts out and the “I regret you were disappointed” messages from the owner obviously do not do any good to the customers.

  1. they DON'T actually do that.

This business states on their website that they do radiant heating, tied into boiler systems. I called, made it very clear what I wanted, was told yes, they could do that, and set up a date and time to get an estimate.

I took the morning off work. They arrived (very promptly) only to tell me that, no, they DON’T actually do that. A for courtesy, F for everything else.

  2. They were incredibly dedicated to trying to get other professionals into my house to review other systems.

Their estimate was $840 for adding a cut off valve to a gas pipe. The next plumber I had come out estimated $300. The only reasonable conclusion to Magnolia’s incredible price is that they did not really want to do the work that I was asking for – they wanted to pocket a $75 fee for 5 minutes of work and be on their way. They were incredibly dedicated to trying to get other professionals into my house to review other systems.

  3. but once again would only benefit me if I used them for the job.

I never thought I could get so much frustration out of just trying to replace a standard hot water heater. The rep I dealt with was Jason Shade.

Literally all I wanted was a quote for the replacement of a 50 gallon electric hot water heater, the kind that literally everyone has in their home. I sent over photos and the full scope of work that I needed done.

When sent Jason insisted that a tech still needed to come out to look at it before they could provide a quote. I made it very clear that that would be fine, but I was not going to pay the $75 charge simply for someone to come out and look as that money is gone if I don’t use them for the job.

Jason then tried to sell me on a $150 protection plan which would waive the fee and have extra coverage, but once again would only benefit me if I used them for the job.

  4. Careful this company allows their technicians to price the job.

Careful this company allows their technicians to price the job. The amounts I have been quoted have been SKY HIGH. First of all I do a lot of contracting so I know when prices are high or not.

In January I needed an HVAC company to go to a tenant’s house to see why the heat was off. A breaker needed to be switched to the “on” position on the HVAC unit – that was it. I was charged $678.65. The bill should have been closer to $250 maybe 300 because it was after a hours.

Then in February a toilet backed up. The technician came and stated it would cost over $1,000.00 to snake the toilet. Knowing that was a rip-off I declined. The situation turned into an after-hours emergency and I still had the work done for $350.00 at 3:00 a.m.!

  5. I highly recommend Magnolia Plumbing.

I highly recommend Magnolia Plumbing because they came out very quickly when I had a leak which flooded my bathroom and threatened to flood into the kitchen. I called them and their emergency response came out with in 40 minutes which was impressive as it was after 9 on a Saturday evening.

The two guys who came were highly professional and the pricing was simple and easy to understand. When I got the final bill there were no sudden surprises or incidental extras. The work was finished within 2 hours and I was able to clean up the mess from the leak before going to bed so Sunday morning was waking up to normality.

  6. Their work is top notch - just be prepared to pay.

I have used Magnolia for several years now, and their technicians/plumbers are top notch. Every single one has been professional, neat, thorough, and helpful. I’ve seen a couple of them go way beyond to get a problem solved.

They maintain and replaced my HVAC. The price was competitive and the work done really well. I like their annual maintenance plans and the price seems fair.

Most recently, I had Felix S. out for some plumbing items. He was great. He listened, gave me options and then did the work fast, cleanly and really checked it all out one final time before he left to check for leaks, etc. Really liked him.

My reason for only 3 stars is the pricing on plumbing work. I’ve regretted paying what I paid. It was absurd and I will not use them again for plumbing without getting other prices. Their work is top notch – just be prepared to pay.

  7. Great people, amazing service at affordable prices.

Great people, amazing service at affordable prices. I have never experienced such good customer service before. Really trustworthy guys. I’ll definitely be using your services again.

  8. We highly recommend them.

We love knowing we can request Reggie, who has been our technician since we installed the furnace/ac, for all our service calls. Magnolia service is exceptional. We love having a service contract and being contacted when it time for the summer and fall maintenance. We highly recommend them.
