Liberty Tax Service

Tax Services

I had my taxes done last year at Liberty Tax Service on Ritchie Highway in Glen Bernie after a rousing recc from my partners’ grandmother.

Liberty all over aims to get people in by giving away hot dogs, free soda, having folks spinning signs on the corner.

They have $50 day-of cash incentives (at cost of your return) and $50 refer-a-friend bonuses.

The afternoon my fiancé and I went in the woman who greeted us had to put her shoes on and pull her dress down.

We were interrupted early into our review by social plans and left the woman to work on our returns.

We didn’t even get to open our off-brand mountain dew and strawberry soda.

The preparer was kind enough to do our work as we were down on the Avenue.

We came back 90 minutes later to find we both had fair returns.

Another preparer was there, Mike, and the manager had left, A pair of Baltimore City’s finest came in pointing out that the store needed a permit to give away hot dogs on the sidewalk and the manager was called, afterwards Mike whined about the permit and the cops and the neighbors.

Our preparer had to correct multiple errors on my fiancé’s return but was quick about it, Mike seemed to have nothing to do and spent the time wearing a floppy winter hat, talking about customers in their absence, singing, pulling up anime on a computer and trying to photograph my fiancé’s social security card since their copier was out of ink.

He was a prime example of how I constantly tell my high school students they can’t act in a professional environment and it’s a wonder the man is there at all.

While the woman’s look was a little unusual she was much more professional (though she seemed to have some sniffles, I wish there had been some hand sanitizer with all the bugs going around).

Our returns were fairly thorough but didn’t seem to be impressive.

Neither or us owed for working out of state so we hope there are no errors since that’s not usually how it works out.

They did have toys for small children and the sodas are a nice kindness.

They have deals for teachers, police, etc. depending on the week so that’s nice (my return preparation was free, fiancé’s was $99 with $50 cash back.)

The woman wearing the liberty costume on this day engaged in some negative chat about the neighbors who were sore about the hot dogs with Mike.

Their manager needs to clearly get a better handle on setting high standards for behavior.

We will be heading either back to Liberty in Glen Burnie or one of the three other preparers within a 5 minute walk for our first joint return next year, refer a friend incentive or not.

  2. Scammers post their Tax Classes in Craigslist job ads section.

Scammers post their Tax Classes in Craigslist job ads section. This is a known scam where they make money off students with no intention of hiring you. The post clearly states it is not a job offer.

So why is it posted in the “Job offered” section? Are you taking advantage of those looking for work? Seems clear to me. Boycott scammers with bogus business practices preying on the needy.
