Kruze Consulting
Absurd And UnethicaWe are a Series A startup with about 30 employees and moved over to Kruze Consulting in Q3 18 with the story that Vanessa promised “we are entrepreneurs just like you, we are not here to nickel and dime you, we want to help you go public!”.
This just was not true. She did dime us as much as she could. I will not give every gory detail here but I will share this particular story (the straw that broke the camels back) since it was so absurd.
On 1/2, someone I never met before at kruze randomly sent me the following note that I missed because I was on vacation:

Subject: 2018 Kruze Consulting 1099 Reporting Process
Hi Founders and Friends!
My name is XXX and I am overseeing the 1099-MISC reporting process for Kruze Clients.
Hope that everyone had a great New Year! Last year you have most likely already paid many contractors, law firms, consultants, and vendors- but have you collected a W-9 from each of them? You might be required to issue a 1099!
As you are current in the onboarding process at Kruze (or recently completed)- it is important that we get started right away as it is now January. The filing deadline will be coming up fast!
PLEASE RESPOND “OPT OUT” TO THIS EMAIL NO LATER THAN THURSDAY 1/4 AT MIDNIGHT IF YOU DO NOT WANT KRUZE CONSULTING TO HELP YOU WITH FORMS 1099
2018 1099 Pricing:
1-10 Forms W: $1000
11-25 Forms W: $1,500
26-50 Forms W: $2,000
50+ Forms W: Contact for Quote

So we had 2 days to reply to “opt-out” of a process that Gusto already handled for us for free, that Kruze was then going to charge us $2k to complete for us? No thanks.
I got back from vacation and told them that we are not doing that because gusto already handles that for us.
They turned off the setting in gusto for them to do this for us and it was now past the point that gusto could not do it for us anymore, rendering us reliant on Kruze to do the work for us for $2k.
We got another firm to do it for us for $200 and wrote to Vanessa that this was absurd and unethical and that we want an apology for us not to move our business.
She would not apologize, after 10 days after we requested that, so we left.
Just stay away.
Vanessa is amazing.
Vanessa is amazing. I trust her with everything!
Scammer
They started great, but soon became too busy to reply to us. They started dropping the ball, and we got hit with fees by government tax agencies because they filed late.
Never Again
