Kessler Rehabilitation Center

The 3 ladies that work there are very professiona

Kessler Rehabilitation Center is a horrible. As much of a front as they put on as being nice and professional, just watch yourself and your loved one. You really do need to be here all day to make sure they are doing what they are supposed to.

Make sure that each department communicates with each other because there is a major breakdown in communication and your loved one will suffer for it. Our family member is here because of a stroke. Their improvement is great, but they are no where close to being able to leave. They dropped them twice while they were here and a bruise on their forehead is the result. What they consider “steps” , example = they walked 40 steps, that means that they were holding / leaning onto the physical therapist while the therapist kicked the foot along. The therapists were awesome, but what the doctors and paper pushers consider progress is not what we witnessed.

Kessler prides themselves on a “speedy” recovery and average 16days for stroke victims and they are on their way! Bullshit. They ask you as a family what your expectations are of progress before the patient’s release all while being silent and not giving you an idea of what is possible or what they consider “progress” or being “ready” to move on to new rehab facility. And when the doctors make their rounds it’s…”your doing great right? , you look much better ? How you feeling? ” they almost feed the patients what they want to hear. Don’t forget that your loved one could be dealing with a brain injury and may think they are “ok”

To top it off it is the eve of Thanksgiving and they are rushing our family member out today. Rumor has it round town that Kessler is notorious for cleaning house of its patients before any holiday SO as to save on staffing costs. All I’ve been hearing is “bye! Have a great Thanksgiving, “see you all Monday! ” I hope they don’t choke on our wishbone.

Fingers crossed you don’t get Mary Ann as your case worker. Matter a fact and very pessimistic that even if you appeal, the discharge date, which was decided in the first few days of being here, will be denied, all the while chewing gum like a cow chewing their grass. How can they decide a discharge date without having the patient go through a session of therapy first? I’m curious.

And what does Mary Ann get from sticking to these dates? Bonus for getting patients out early or “on time”?? Keeping the Kessler average patient stay in-tact? She left early today with a pie and a smile. Hope she enjoys HER pie.

I’m not saying this place will not be the place for you, I’m saying if you are here or a loved one is, keep a watchful eye, ask a lot of questions and don’t expect too much.

  1. Not impressed with Kessler Rehabilitation Center

Not impressed at all. PT was knowledgeable and nice and tried to do what he could but you can tell is limited with the time that can be given to each of the patients. They give you ok care but use aides more then they should. We ended up going to another PT privately owned physical therapy facility and were very impressed.
